Tang Jie-Ee Wei reunite in style with Singapore Open win

KUALA LUMPUR: Mixed doubles Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei made a triumphant return to the World Tour after reuniting, storming into the second round of the Singapore Open on Tuesday. The world No. 4 overcame Presley Smith-Jennie Gai of the United States 21-18, 21-15, capping a memorable day where they also reclaimed the national No. 1 ranking. Their rise comes as compatriots Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai slipped two spots from world No. 3 in the latest rankings. Tang Jie-Ee Wei, who briefly parted ways after the All England, patched up and reunited for the Sudirman Cup last month, where Malaysia reached the quarter-finals. However, they tried out with different partners again at recent Thailand Open and Malaysia Masters. Meanwhile, Wong Tien Ci-Lim Chiew Sien came agonisingly close to a major upset before narrowly going down 19-21, 21-19, 22-20 to Thai world No. 8 Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Supissara Paewsampran - the same opponents who ousted them at the Malaysia Masters last week.
