'Pretty Little Baby' singer Connie Francis, 87, hospitalised for 'extreme' pain
Connie Francis recently had her music go viral on TikTok as users use her 'Pretty Little Baby' for videos. Photo: TNS Recording star Connie Francis says she is on the mend after a recent trip to the hospital to address some "extreme pain." The Stupid Cupid singer, who rose to fame in the late 1950s and early '60s, informed fans on Facebook that she is receiving care after undergoing tests and exams. "Thank you all for your kind thoughts, words and prayers," she wrote Wednesday. Earlier Wednesday, the 87-year-old Pretty Little Baby singer wrote on Facebook that she went to the hospital to learn more about the cause of her pain, which she said prompted her to call off an upcoming Fourth of July performance, her latest cancellation in recent weeks. Francis' posts this week did not disclose much information about her condition, but a previous Facebook update provided some insight. A week prior to her hospitalisation, Francis announced on Facebook that she had been dealing with "pelvic pain on the right side" and underwent tests to determine "that this is due to a fracture." "It looks like I may have to rely on my wheelchair a little longer than anticipated," she wrote, adding that she had to pull out of a then-upcoming performance. Francis gave followers more information about her health in March, telling them in another Facebook post that she uses a wheelchair to avoid putting "undue pressure on a troublesome painful hip" and that she was awaiting stem cell therapy at the time. Francis has spoken openly about her personal afflictions over the course of her career. She told the Village Voice in 2011 that she had been committed to several mental institutions in the 1980s. She said she was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder after she was misdiagnosed with other mental health conditions, including bipolar disorder, ADD and ADHD. The singer recently had her music go viral on TikTok as users use her Pretty Little Baby for videos. "I'm still astounded by the popularity of Pretty Little Baby ," she said last week, thanking the A-listers who have used her hit in their social media videos. – Los Angeles Times/Tribune News Service

The annual food truck gathering has food trucks lined up around downtown Hopkins on Main Street between 11th Avenue N and 8th Avenue S. However, it alights with more than access to a surplus of food trucks. It also offers a beer garden, family-friendly games, and live music from Jezebelle, Whiskey Stone, and Jacuzzi Puma. Lebo M ‘shocked' by second-hand price for his grand piano
Internationally acclaimed composer Lebo M is said to be devastated at the second-hand price for his grand piano. It is alleged Lebo M was shocked to discover his estranged wife Pretty Samuels sold his multimillion-rand piano for R15,000 to a second-hand buyer. Lebo M has been in a battle over the missing piano, and accused Pretty of misleading the public about a supposed divorce settlement. A source close to the creator of The Lion King said the price for his piano left him brokenhearted. 'The big man (Lebo M) is devastated Pretty sold the piano for R15,000. She agreed to R15,000, which is ridiculous,' said the source. Another source said Lebo M became aware the piano was no longer in storage facilities when he was preparing for a concert with Grammy award-winner Hans Zimmer. ' Pretty is playing victim. She must take accountability for her actions', said the source. Pretty wasn't available to comment on the matter.

Kingdom Business initiative unites Christian entrepreneurs through prayer hike
A group of Christian business leaders gathered for a fulfilling and transforming session of prayer through a hike. In April, residents from eMalahleni embarked on a prayer hike organised by Pretty Mathabela, founder of Kingdom Business initiative, at Ribbokkloof Resort, in an attempt to encourage unity and collaboration among Christian business leaders. 'I have committed myself to creating a community of Christian businessmen and women where we can learn from each other and support each other through this journey,' Pretty said. The hike aimed to provide a platform for Christians in business to come together, pray, network, and learn from each other's experiences. Among the hikers were esteemed speakers such as Apostle Calvin Mabedle and Prophetess Tsakani Mabedle, who are founders and pastors of Bread at the Well Bethel, as well as Nonkululeko Shabangu and Shanice Zwane. Shanice shared her inspiring journey of building her hair salon from scratch, while Nonkululeko spoke about the importance of investing in Kingdom Businesses and the concept of tithes unlocking generational wealth. Apostle Calvin, on the other hand, emphasised the need to seek God's wisdom in business partnerships. The hike took participants on a scenic route at the resort, where they experienced a range of emotions, from the frustration and exhaustion of climbing steep mountains to the joy of being victorious enough to make it to the end. All the participants agreed that the experience was refreshing and rejuvenating, and they are already looking forward to the next gathering. 'Thanks for this experience, I enjoyed it and it was really worth it. I am looking forward to more of this kind of hike,' said Tshebeletso Meselane, one of the hikers who attended.
