Pride in the Park is back in CdA on Saturday
Jun. 6—The North Idaho Pride Alliance is hosting the ninth annual Pride in the Park Saturday at Coeur d'Alene City Park — and is expecting a bigger turnout than last year. The organization's signature event takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will feature live performances, local vendors, dancing, booths with LGBTQ+ resources and a kid and family zone. "We are definitely expecting another record turnout of LGBTQ folks and their families and allies and community members to celebrate inclusion, joy and unity," Executive Director Sarah Lynch said. The number of vendors has increased by 20% since 2024, and twice as many volunteers will be helping run the event. Lynch attributes the growth to the community recognizing the need to publicly support the queer community. "The message that we want to send is that you're seen, you belong and you deserve to thrive," she said. In addition to Saturday's event, the alliance is also hosting a Queer Blood Drive June 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Human Rights Education Institute.

Popular Pride event will not return this year as funding dips
A popular Pride event will not return this year after a "massive dip" in funding. Pride In The Park has been brightening up Southampton every June since 2022. But organisers People's Pride said the annual event is on hiatus this year as the charity faces a 'massive dip' in funding. Last year, the charity had to use £20,000 of its own money to ensure the event went ahead, an option that is not viable this year. Announcing the news on social media, a spokesperson said: 'With the lack of funding again for 2025, and with our friends at Portsmouth Pride having won the bid for UK Pride 2025, we have taken the decision to put Pride In The Park on a small hiatus for now. 'This is so we can help them celebrate their win and put on what we all know will be an amazing event. 'We hope to bring Pride In The Park back in 2026, subject to funding. 'We are still very much focused on supporting the community, and we are hosting weekly stalls, as well as delivering other community stalls in other events. 'We also have a string of other events which you can see on our linked page off our website. 'Thank you for your continued support, and we are still as ever here for the community all year round.'
