Oregon Ducks 4-star Prince Tavizon receives ratings update following reclassification
The Oregon Ducks got an update on the recruiting trail earlier this week when 2027 4-star EDGE Prince Tavizon announced that he would be reclassifying and joining the 2026 class instead. With the move, Tavizon now joins Oregon's 2026 class, which moved up to No. 9 in the national rankings. He is the second edge-rusher in the Ducks' class, joining 4-star Dutch Horsik. As a member of the 2027 class, Tavizon was rated by 247Sports as the No. 76 overall player and No. 13 EDGE in the nation. However, with the reclassification to 2026, his ratings were updated by 247Sports. Now, as a member of the 2026 class, Tavizon moved down a bit, according to the 247Sports Composite, rated as the No. 261 player in the nation and No. 22 EDGE. It will be interesting to see how that stands over the next few months as scouts gather more footage on the Lincoln High School prospect. With Tavizon now going into his senior year, more attention will be on him, and more film will be dissected. Despite Tavizon's reclassification, Oregon is still after additional talent at the EDGE in the 2026 class, mainly targeting 5-star Anthony 'Tank' Jones, who is expected to announce his commitment between the Ducks, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Texas A&M Aggies over the next few weeks. 4-star Oregon Ducks commit Prince Tavizon reclassifies to 2026 class
The Oregon Ducks received some major recruiting news on Tuesday afternoon, which involved a player who was already committed to them. 4-star edge rusher Prince Tavizon announced that he would be reclassifying from the 2027 class to the 2026 class. As a member of the 2027 class, Tavizon was rated by 247Sports as the No. 76 overall player and No. 13 EDGE in the nation. Of course, those rankings will change when he's re-ranked as a member of the 2026 class, but it's clear that he's a highly rated recruit with some real upside. Tavizon, who stands at 6-foot-3, 245 pounds, chose the Ducks over the likes of the USC Trojans, Texas A&M Aggies, and California Golden Bears. Tavizon is the latest prospect that Oregon has plucked from Lincoln, creating a nice pipeline with the high-profile San Diego school. Last year, they got a commitment from 4-star QB Akili Smith Jr. from Lincoln, and they also got former 4-star CB Jahlil Florence from there in the 2023 class as well. Before the addition of Tavizon, Oregon's 2026 class ranked as the 12th best in the nation, but it will likely rise with the reclassification. As for Oregon's 2027 class, the lone commit is 4-star EDGE Cameron Pritchett with Tavizon's reclassification. Notre Dame four-star target Prince Tavizon reclassifies from Class of 2027 to 2026 class
In the world of recruiting, nothing can ever be for certain. Class of 2027 Oregon commit Prince Tavizon has reclassified to the 2026 class, which is potentially good news for Notre Dame. The four-star edge rusher from Lincoln (San Diego, CA) is rated by the 247Sports Composite Rankings as the 12th-best player in the state, a number that will now change when he gets re-ranked as a member of the 2026 class. But obviously he is highly regarded. Could the Fighting Irish now be in play for the 6-foot-3, 245-pounder, who chose the Ducks over programs such as USC, Texas A&M and Cal? Oregon may still have the edge, as it has a history with Lincoln. Last year, the Ducks received a commitment from four-star QB Akili Smith Jr., and four-star CB Jahlil Florence from the 2023 class attended the school as well. But with the success the Irish have had comprising a phenomenal 2026 class, could Tavizon be intrigued by being another strong piece to what's becoming an epic haul? 2027 Oregon commit takes dig at USC with ‘cannonball' reference
The post 2027 Oregon commit takes dig at USC with 'cannonball' reference appeared first on ClutchPoints. Oregon football delivered a new splash Sunday. One 2027 recruit dropped a 'cannonball' counter at USC. Advertisement The Trojans took a dig at their Big Ten rival with a clip from 'Anchorman' in helping announce the Mark Bowman commitment. But Oregon's newest verbal commit countered and took his swipe at USC. Edge rusher Prince Tavizon revealed his commitment to the Ducks Sunday evening. But he told Hayes Fawcett of On3 this reaction after Tavizon turned down USC. 'Cannonballlll,' the San Diego native Tavizon said to the recruiting insider. The 'cannonball' reference started via Dan Lanning. Oregon landed five-star edge rusher for 2026 Richard Wesley on May 10. Lanning proceeded to jump into a pool with Wesley to celebrate the Ducks commitment. However, the Sierra Canyon of Chatsworth star Wesley decommitted 17 days later and is back on the open recruiting market. Oregon, USC battling for top recruiting class Kirby Lee-Imagn Images The Ducks and Trojans have stretched their rivalry into the Big Ten. Both battled for Pac-12 supremacy before moving out of the conference for the 2024 season. Advertisement Now their bitterness has spilled over to the college football recruiting trail. USC has put together the nation's top-ranked recruiting class for 2026. But that was a title Oregon held at the start of the year. The Trojans and head coach Lincoln Riley began to siphon away Oregon commits. USC poached four-star quarterback Jonas Williams from the Ducks in February. But the Trojans weren't through raiding the Ducks' '26 class. Prized offensive lineman Tomuhini Topui flipped to USC after originally choosing the Big Ten champs. Topui revealed his change of heart on April 1. The Bowman commitment further increases USC's lead in the national recruiting rankings. Oregon has fallen to 27th nationally with just seven verbal pledges for '26. Oregon, however, just dove into the '27 cycle to grab the Lincoln High star Tavizon. The edge defender reeled in 21 scholarship offers ahead of his junior season before dropping his 'cannonball.'
