Led by Principality's Chief Customer Officer, and Executive Sponsor of the building society's internal Pride Network, Vicky Wales, the breakfast celebration attracted more than 100 attendees. Paul Pogba 'agrees two-year deal with Champions League club' as former Man United star nears return to football after 18-month doping ban
Paul Pogba has taken a major step towards securing his return to professional football by agreeing to a two-year deal with a new club, a report has claimed. The former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder was handed a four-year doping ban after returning an adverse drugs test, however that suspension was later slashed to just 18 months. In the Court of Arbitration for Sport's final judgement it was confirmed that Pogba did inadvertently take DHEA, a substance that boosts testosterone that is on WADA's banned list. The ruling stated however that DHEA only has an effect on females. However, after his ban officially ended earlier this year, he has been linked to a return to the game this summer, and according to French outlet Le Parisien, he has agreed a deal with Monaco. The report claims that he took 'significant financial sacrifices' in order to pen terms with the Ligue 1 side, in order to secure his return. The two parties are thought to have been in discussions for several days before at last agreeing to the financials on Sunday. The report also adds that the player traveled to the Principality earlier in June to meet with chiefs at the club and had begun the process of planning out his life and the logisitics of a move, including details such as a new driver, where he would live, and what sort of security he would put in place. Though he has not actually played a game since September 2023, he has at least been sharing progress of his training regime on social media in order to reignite his football career. Joining Monaco would see Pogba return to club football's greatest competition, too, in the Champions League, after the Ligue 1 side finished third in the league behind Marseille and champions PSG. Despite representing France 91 times and winning the World Cup with Les Bleus in 2018, he has never actually played in the country's top-flight. Having come through the ranks at Manchester United, he joined Juventus before a then-record return to Old Trafford in 2016. From United, he once again joined Juventus on a free transfer in 2022.

Natasha Asghar MS visits Newport Principality branch
The visit was part of celebrations marking the society's 165th anniversary. The Principality Building Society, with its largest branch presence across Wales, declared in April its commitment to maintaining high street and community presence until 2030. This decision stems from consistent member feedback and research that indicates more than 70 per cent of people consider branch presence crucial when choosing a financial provider. Kelly Young, head of savings customer services, said: "Cash remains a vital part of daily life for many—not just as a payment method, but as a pillar of financial stability, especially for small businesses, residents, and rural communities." She added that the society is committed to investing in its network and ensuring access to cash for the communities it serves. Natasha Asghar, member of the Senedd for South Wales East, commended the society's dedication to maintaining its local branches and services across Welsh communities. She said: "With over 160 years of service, the Principality remains a cornerstone of Welsh town centres and has the strongest high street presence of any financial services provider in the country." The society was first established in Cardiff in 1860.

Yachting: in Monaco, the Sea Index sets the course for ecological transition
MONACO, June 10, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In the heart of the Mediterranean, where luxury yachting meets the pressing demands of environmental responsibility, Monaco is positioning itself as a frontrunner in sustainable maritime innovation. This week, the Principality hosted the 'Blue Economy and Finance Forum (BEFF)' - an official event of the United Nations Ocean Conference - bringing together global leaders, investors, policymakers, and scientists to shape the future of blue finance and ocean-related innovation. Held under the High Patronage of HSH Prince Albert II and in partnership with the Principality, the forum served as a platform for unveiling impactful tools such as the Sea Index, a pioneering initiative by the Yacht Club de Monaco developed with Credit Suisse (a Ubs Group company). Presented during the session titled 'Setting Sail to Blue Ports and Shipping', which focused on decarbonizing maritime transport and port infrastructure, the SEA Index was highlighted as a key enabler of the ecological transition within the yachting industry. Rachel Ercole Ribes, Development Manager of Sea Index, emphasized the critical role yacht owners can play in leading this transition: "Yacht owners are often also captains of industry. They possess both the means and the influence to unlock technological barriers. Decarbonization is not just a regulatory obligation, it is a shared responsibility. With the Sea Index, we provide a reliable, transparent, and scalable tool and, above all, we assert pioneering leadership in the sector, to anticipate future regulations and foster innovation starting today". The high-level panel included key industry figures: Christine Cabau (EVP Assets and Operations, CMA CGM Group), Paul Taylor (Global Head of Maritime Industries at Société Générale and Vice Chair of the Poseidon Principles), Christophe Castaner (Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Grand Port Maritime de Marseille), and Stefano Sommadossi (President, NatPower). The discussion was moderated by Nick Brown, Corporate Affairs Director at Bureau Veritas. The Sea Index offers an independent, certified methodology - validated by Lloyd's Register and labeled by Capenergies - that enables yachts over 24 meters to assess and reduce their carbon footprint. It includes a lifecycle emissions calculator based on fuel choice and is designed to integrate future metrics such as air and noise pollution, as well as emerging technologies like fuel cells. The tool is already seeing growing adoption across the Mediterranean, with around twenty ports in France's Southern Region involved, and is now expanding globally, with initial deployment in the Seychelles in partnership with local authorities. Beyond this, the Yacht Club de Monaco continues to promote sustainable innovation through the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge (July 1–5, 2025), an open innovation platform that brings together engineering schools and industry stakeholders to test future energy solutions at sea. As the blue economy already generates $2.5 trillion annually and is expected to exceed $3 trillion by 2030 (OECD), Monaco is not drifting with the tide, it is anchoring its vision firmly in the future. Norris wins ‘dream' maiden Monaco Grand Prix
McLaren driver Lando Norris celebrates after winning the Monaco Grand Prix today. (AP pic) MONACO : Lando Norris won his maiden Monaco Grand Prix today to close the gap on his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri in the battle for the 2025 drivers' world title. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc took second with Piastri completing the podium in the eighth race of the season. Norris closed to within three points of Piastri after adding the jewel in the F1 calendar to his season-opening win in Australia. Four-time reigning world champion Max Verstappen took fourth with Lewis Hamilton in the other Ferrari rounding out the top five. 'Monaco, baby! It's a dream' Norris exclaimed over the team radio, after becoming the first McLaren driver to win on the sinuous streets of the Principality since Hamilton in 2008. 'It feels amazing, it's a long gruelling race. An amazing weekend with pole, with today. This is what we dream of, this is what I did dream of as a kid,' beamed the 25-year-old. He was pushed hard to the end of the gruelling and at times chaotic afternoon in the Monaco sunshine by Leclerc, who took second, 3.131s behind. 'Lando did a better job and he deserves to win. It is above our expectations here, I thought we would struggle to be in the top 10 so it has been a good weekend, but I wish I'd won,' said the Monaco-born Leclerc. Piastri rued a tricky time in qualifying yesterday. 'I got close but not close enough, and you run around here where you started,' said the Australian.
