Magewell launches Pro Convert IP to USB
The Pro Convert IP to USB is now available for shipping. Video interface and IP workflow innovator Magewell has announced the release of its latest device in the Pro Convert series: the Pro Convert IP to USB. This compact new tool seamlessly bridges IP-based video sources such as NDI, NDI HX, and streaming protocols with software applications via a standard USB connection, offering a simplified solution for AV professionals and content creators. The Pro Convert IP to USB combines the robust decoding power of Magewell's Pro Convert line with the user-friendly plug-and-play functionality of its widely used USB Capture devices. It is specifically designed to address a growing challenge in the industry—many software applications, particularly those used for video conferencing or live production, do not natively support NDI, and IT restrictions often prevent the installation of supplementary tools like NDI Tools. This new device solves that problem by presenting IP video sources as standard USB webcam inputs, removing the need for additional software. Beyond NDI High Bandwidth, NDI HX2 and HX3, the Pro Convert IP to USB also supports a broad range of other streaming formats including H.264 and H.265 encoded video over protocols such as SRT, RTMP, RTSP, RTP, UDP and HTTP. This versatility allows users to bring virtually any live IP source into platforms that support USB video input. The device supports resolutions up to 1920×1080 and delivers video to software either as full uncompressed 60fps video or MJPEG-compressed at 30fps, depending on application requirements. It also captures two channels of high-quality 16-bit, 48kHz audio. While 30fps suffices for many video conferencing needs, the full 1080p60 capability makes it suitable for higher-performance applications such as telepresence, virtual events, or live video production. Designed for broad compatibility, the Pro Convert IP to USB works with Windows, Mac, and Linux systems and complies with the UVC (USB Video Class) standard, ensuring seamless, driver-free operation. It draws power directly from the host computer via USB, eliminating the need for external power sources. Users can configure and control the device through a browser-based interface, which includes functionality for selecting video inputs and managing settings. The interface also supports control of remotely connected PTZ cameras via NDI or Visca over UDP. For larger deployments, multiple units can be centrally managed using Magewell's optional Control Hub software. Nick Ma, CEO and CTO of Magewell, said: 'Many users want to bring NDI, SRT or other streaming sources into their video conferencing platform or other software, but the need for additional software tools was prohibitive. Our new Pro Convert IP to USB makes it simple, with the IP source showing up in the user's software just like a webcam.'
