Class 10 student abducted, trafficked, raped: Maharashtra couple arrested from Telangana's Adilabad; probe on
HYDERABAD: Adilabad police arrested a couple from Maharashtra on Saturday for trafficking a minor tribal girl for Rs 10,000. A rape case has also been registered against a man in Rajasthan under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act for repeatedly sexually abusing the girl. He has not yet been arrested. The couple has been charged with human trafficking and kidnapping. Bheempur police registered a case on June 22 after the girl's family reported her missing, having failed in their attempts to trace her. Adilabad deputy superintendent of police L Jeevan Reddy said that on June 2, while the girl was alone at home, Nirmala Bapunja Athra, 47, and her husband Bapunya Rajaram Athra, 49, from Kinhla village in Yavatmal district, Maharashtra, approached her. The couple was in the Adilabad village as they knew people there. They reportedly engaged the girl in conversation, misled her, and abducted her. They first took her to Adilabad, then travelled by bus to Nagpur, and from there by train to Kota in Rajasthan. 'They then took her to a village, threatened her, and handed her over to a man,' said the DSP, adding that the man, Karan alias Bhagavath Menon, kept her at his house and repeatedly sexually abused her. According to cops, after learning from Nirmala Athra that girl's family had filed a complaint, Karan handed the girl back to her on June 23. Police said Karan is married and divorced. Nirmala and Rajaram brought the girl back to Adilabad, and she returned home on June 25. The DSP said the couple was arrested at Adilabad railway station while attempting to flee. Mother in Bengaluru booked under POCSO act for alleged sexual harassment of 15-year-old daughter: Report
Jun 29, 2025 11:53 AM IST Bengaluru's RT Nagar police have filed a case against a 45-year-old woman under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, following serious allegations that she sexually harassed her teenage daughter for several years, reported The Times of India. A 15-year-old girl alleged that she was sexually abused by her mother in Bengaluru. The issue came to light when the student confided in the school counsellor about the alleged abuse by her mother. In her distressing account to the counsellor, the teenager reportedly stated, "My mother used to sexually harass me, claiming she was teaching me how I should behave with my husband after marriage." The victim alleged that this pattern of harassment had been occurring for the last six years. According to police, the accused mother works for a private firm and lives apart from her husband. The daughter attends a school located near their home. 'The incident was reported to us by the victim's counsellor, leading to the registration of the case,' the investigating officer told the publication. Man marrying & harassing minor held under Pocso
Nashik: The Bhadrakali police arrested a man (25) on Friday evening for marrying a minor girl and harassing her. The arrest was made under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanahita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. The Bhadrakali police stated that the victim (17) registered a complaint with them on Friday evening. According to the complainant, her father-in-law threatened her parents to marry their minor daughter to his son. The father-in-law wielded immense influence in their community. After the forced marriage, the complainant's husband maintained physical relations with her, after which she became pregnant and gave birth to a boy on June 1. Meanwhile, the husband and his four other relatives continued to harass her physically. The police said, "After the girl returned to her parents, she decided to register a complaint against her husband and the other 4 relatives. We took action and arrested her husband. However, his parents and four other accused are yet to be traced and arrested." Apart from the charges under Pocso, the police have registered a case against the accused for rape, abduction, intentional insult, and criminal intimidation under relevant sections of the BNS. The police are also investigating where the girl delivered the baby and why doctors did not raise alarm over her age.

Couple from Maharashtra arrested in human trafficking case in Adilabad
The Bheempur police in Adilabad district on Saturday unearthed a human trafficking racket by arresting a couple from Maharashtra allegedly involved in abduction and the sale of a 16 year-old-minor girl to a man in Rajasthan. The accused, identified as Nirmala, 47, and her husband Bapunya Rajaram of Kinhi village in Maharashtra's Yavatmal district were arrested by the police at the Adilabad railway station on Saturday morning, police said. Another accused Karan alias Bhagavath of Kota in Rajasthan, is at large. According to police, Nirmala and Bapunya allegedly kidnapped the minor Adivasi girl from her village in Bheempur mandal of Adilabad district on June 2, 2025. The couple allegedly sold the girl to Karan in Rajasthan for ₹10,000. Acting on a complaint filed by the girl's mother, the Bheempur police have registered a kidnapping case. A detailed investigation into the abduction case uncovered the human trafficking racket. When the couple got to know that police are on the lookout for them, they reportedly brought the girl back to her home on June 25, 2025. The couple was arrested under the relevant sections of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. The arrested duo was produced in the local court. The police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against Karan and deputed a special team to Rajasthan to nab him. The incident comes less than two weeks after an inter-State human trafficking racket allegedly involving a suspended police constable was busted by the police in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district.

7-Year-Old Raped In UP, Parents Found Her Bleeding, Accused Arrested
Muzaffarnagar(UP): A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man in the Budhana town of Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar, police said. Circle Officer (CO) Gajendra Pal Singh said that the alleged incident took place on Friday. "The accused works as labourer in a factory located near the victim's house. He lured the girl to a secluded place on Friday and raped her," said Singh. The family members came to know about the incident when the minor returned home and the parents found her bleeding from her private parts, police said. The victim has been sent for a medical examination. Police have registered a case against accused Raju (35) under relevant sections of the BNS and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The case was filed based on a complaint lodged by the victim's family. Police on Saturday morning arrested Raju, following an encounter. Raju sustained bullet injuries during the encounter while attempting to escape, police said. He has been shifted to the government health community centre at Budhana for medical care. A police official said that Raju has allegedly confessed his crime.
