New Bedford's Whaling Museum joins free admission weekend July 5–6
Bank of America cardholders can enjoy free access to local museums this Fourth of July weekend. According to a community announcement, the Museums on Us program will take place on July 5 and 6.
Participating locations in SouthCoast and Rhode Island include several notable institutions.
The New Bedford Whaling Museum, located at 18 Johnny Cake Hill, will feature current exhibits such as "Morabeza: Cape Verdean Community in the South Coast," "Claridade: Cape Verdean Identity in Contemporary Art," and "Overheard Underwater: Perri Lynch Howard," and the new Kids' Corner. Visitors can also catch a performance by Jethros on July 4.
Families can visit the Providence Children's Museum at 100 South St., Providence, where children can engage with Water Ways. This interactive exhibit allows kids to send boats and balls through vortexes and create watery designs on a large slate wall.
The RISD Museum, located at 224 Benefit St., Providence, recently launched "Brighten Up! Contemporary Enamels." This exhibition showcases objects from the museum's collection alongside recent acquisitions, highlighting the art of enamelwork.
In Newport, the International Tennis Hall of Fame at 194 Bellevue Ave. invites guests to experience the "Arthur Ashe VR Experience." This immersive journey takes visitors back to 1968, celebrating Ashe's historic win as the first Black man to secure the US Open title.
Museums on Us is part of Bank of America's initiative to support local communities and enhance access to the arts. With over 225 participating institutions nationwide, cardholders can gain free general admission by presenting an eligible Bank of America card and photo ID on Saturday and Sunday.
