The annual National Pub and Bar Awards celebrate the top venues across the country based on a range of criteria including service, style of offer, marketing and customer journey. Almost 100 winners were selected from the shortlist. Regional winners and the National Pub and Bar of the Year were announced in the grand final. The Bull in Chipping North, down south, came out on top. And two Scottish boozers scooped a regional title each. The Barrelman, Dundee 2 The Barrelman in Dundee has been voted the best in North Scotland Credit: Google maps The Barrelman in Dundee was crowned the Pub and Bar of the Year for North Scotland. It is described as a "laid back spot with charm and personality". Located right in the heart of Dundee's city centre, it serves a range of beers, wines, and spirits, as well as handcrafted cocktails. They also offer a variety of food menus for brunch, lunch and dinner as well as custom event menus. With nearly 400 Tripadvisor reviews, customers praise The Barrelman for its "fantastic staff and atmosphere" and its "quick and efficient" service. Peterville Inn: Visit England Pub of the Year 2024 One wrote: "Fantastic staff and atmosphere. Relax and enjoy a drink and have a chat. Good selection of drinks too. In the heart of Dundee and easy to find." Another said: "We booked The Barrelman for a family lunch. The service was quick and efficient and the waitress who served us was friendly and attentive. Overall the food was good. It's also a really good service". Kenmuir Arms, Dumfries and Galloway 2 The Kenmuir Arms, Dumfries and Galloway has been voted the best in South Scotland The Kenmuir Arms in Dumfries and Galloway was crowned the Pub and Bar of the Year for the South of Scotland. It boasts an extensive drinks menu and a daily-changing specials board featuring pub classics. Situated in the picturesque village of New Luce, near Stranraer, the quaint pub sits facing the beachfront. Customers on Tripadvisor rate the pub's charming location and great atmosphere. It has a 4.8-star rating on the popular travel site. One customer hailed it as "just heaven". Another said: "The pub is in a lovely riverside location in a pretty hamlet, just off long-distance footpaths. The location is quiet, but it's within easy reach of lots of things to see and do: there are several superb gardens open to the public, and beautiful coastal scenery on the Rhins of Galloway."

The Bull in Charlbury, Chipping Norton 13 The Bull Charlbury was crowned the pub of the year The Bull in Charlbury, Chipping Norton came out on top with the boozer being recognised for its "beautiful" pub garden and pints served at the bar. The boozer has received glowing reviews from punters who praised its "cozy" feel and "terrific" food. The Bull is an hour train ride from London Paddington and an eight minute walk from Charlbury station. The Tollemache Arms, Harrington 13 The Tollemache Arms, Harrington was crowed the best pub in the East Midlands The Tollemache Arms, Harrington was crowned the best pub in the East Midlands for 2025. The boozer describes itself as a "17th century Quintessentially British Pub," offering both food and drinks to customers. Customers have praised its "incredible" Sunday lunch and staff. The National Pub and Bar Awards has shared its shortlist of boozers and restaurants in with the chance of claiming the prestigious title of Pub and Bar of the Year 2025. 1 The Black Bear Inn is one of the pubs nominated for Pub and Bar of the Year The awards, organised by the Pub and Bar magazine, recognise the best venues in the UK based on a range of criteria including service, style of offer, marketing and customer journey. Almost 100 county winners will be chosen from the shortlist before a grand final in June where regional winners then the grand title of National Pub and Bar of the Year will be announced. Among the nominees this year is The George in Castleton, a small pub nestled in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Another is Beekies Neuk in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, a pub and restaurant serving local produce and large selection of whiskies, rums and gins. Also on the shortlist is the Black Bear Inn in Gwent, Wales, a rurally-situated inn with a rustic feel. Bogans, in Tyrone, Northern Ireland, is also nominated this year, known for welcoming punters of all ages. The Red Lion in Kettering features too - a traditional village pub serving locally-sourced food. to open 15 new pubs after toasting a surge in sales. The Sun exclusively revealed six locations set to pull up their shutters, and their opening dates. Boozers are opening on the Isle of Man, London, Warwickshire and Essex before the end of September. A further nine will open by July 2026. But it's not all good news for the pub chain, after boss Tim Martin warned it would have to hike the price of pints by 20p. It comes after the chain told The Sun in January it had raised the price of some of its drinks and meal deals by up to 30p.
