Pure launches a fitness-led smart wellness studio with the new Re:set
What is arguably Hong Kong's most popular gym brand is now aiming to also take care of our rest and relaxation needs, on top of urging customers towards fitness goals. Pure Group has now launched the brand-new Re:set by Pure, a space that offers smart wellness experiences perfect for pairing with gym sessions. In our hectic city where burnout and chronic fatigue are unfortunately common, Re:set offers a respite where Hongkongers can recharge and return to daily life feeling calmer and more energised. They also flexibly meet your body's changing requirements, starting every session with a personalised Body Meter scan that checks in with your physical and mental states, and selects modalities catered to differing needs every day. The data-driven, expert-led process has been designed to deliver results. Some significant facilities in the Re:set studio include a Re:vive zone with pioneering recliners that combine red light therapy, compression therapy, and zero gravity all in one experience; a Progressive Cold Shower System that adapts to the different needs of female and male bodies; hot and cold immersion for contrast therapy that strengthens the immune system; both infrared and traditional saunas; and an area for mobility and breathwork. While these tools are excellent for recovery after strenuous exercise, Re:set isn't just for athletes – it's also for sedentary office workers, busy parents, frontline staff, entrepreneurs under pressure, stressed-out students, or even someone who just wants to take a nap. Like the rest of the Pure locations, shirts and shorts are provided, as are towels and slippers – so all that visitors need to bring is their water bottle (and swimwear, if using the immersion pools and cold showers). Instead of monthly fees the way the Pure gyms do it, Re:set operates on a buy-as-you-go basis, with packages ranging from $800 for one hour to $18,000 for 30 hours. Early-bird customers can receive up to 180 minutes of access for free, while Pure Fitness and Pure Yoga cardholders will also receive extra free minutes on their choice of Re:set packages. Re:set by Pure studio is located on the 11th floor of Lee Theatre Plaza in Causeway Bay. Which therapeutic zone are you looking forward to trying first?

HYROX training races into Richmond gyms
HYROX — the popular global fitness race that combines running with functional exercises — is taking the Richmond fitness scene by storm. Why it matters: Local gyms are partnering with the HYROX brand to host official training events and workouts for Richmonders looking to train for a race. The big picture: HYROX is a worldwide fitness competition that began in Hamburg, Germany, in 2017 and has gained major momentum in the U.S. over the last few years. Over 80 global races are planned for 2025, with over 550,000 participants and 350,000 spectators, according to the brand. Much of the surge in popularity is because of the unique way HYROX blends running with strength and endurance training, Pure Fitness RVA owner (and former 1st District City Councilman) Andreas Addison tells Axios. The races are basically "a 10k for weight-lifters. For people who want to be stronger," he says. Plus, you can do the races with a partner, "which has been a huge draw and attraction," he adds. How it works: HYROX races consist of eight functional workout stations with a 1 km run (.62 miles) between each. The individual stations are a 1000m SkiErg, 50m sled push, 50m sled pull, 80m burpee broad jumps, 1000m rowing, 2000m farmers carry, 100m sandbag lunges and 100 wall balls. Training classes, like the ones at Pure Fitness, are designed so participants can train for races or just experience an intensive 90-minute workout (roughly the average finish time for a HYROX race). Zoom in: Addison added HYROX pattern training at Pure Fitness two years ago, around the time he and his wife got into it. That year, they were the only two people from his gym to participate in a HYROX race. Last month, a third of his gym members participated in the D.C. race. One of the things locals love about the races is that there's no qualifier; folks can just register for one and show up, he says. Today, Pure Fitness is one of at least four gyms that offer the training locally.
