Glastonbury chaos as bosses are forced to SHUT part of festival as Lorde performs surprise set

GLASTONBURY descended into chaos as organisers were forced to shut down part of the site during a surprise performance by pop star Lorde. Crowds rushed to the Woodsies tent after word spread about the secret set — but the surge quickly overwhelmed the space. 'Some people are leaving as it's so intense.' Advertisement READ MORE ON GLASTONBURY The source added: 'Bosses have now shut down Woodsies as crowds are so big with a festival-wide message saying: 'Woodies is now full'.' The disruption came shortly after Glastonbury bosses revealed the acts expected to draw the biggest crowds today. As well as Lorde at Woodsies, Festival officials issued a warning: 'There will be large crowds at the Pyramid, Other, West Holts and Park Stages too – with plenty of space to accommodate them. Advertisement Most read in Music Exclusive Exclusive 'This evening, Arcadia will be busy. The one way system in the South East Corner is also likely to come into play. 'We expect that there will be one in, one out queues on some of our tented venues, and on occasion it may be necessary to divert you around some areas when they are at capacity. Please listen to stewards and be patient with them.' Lorde Teases Secret Glastonbury Set Amid New Album Release They added: 'When leaving our bigger arenas and venues, please remember there are lots of you. If you take your time the crowds will thin out and you'll get out more easily. 'And when heading to stages remember, we have a lot of alternative routes to places, the shortest route will often not be the quickest.' Advertisement Social media quickly lit up with complaints directed at the official Glasto account on X/Twitter. One user posted: 'This #Glastonbury opening ceremony is embarrassing as f***,' while another asked: 'Is there meant to be no sound at the #Glastonbury2025 opening ceremony? Local regs? Crowds a bit restless at the back #Glastonbury.' This year's festival runs from June 25 to June 29, with a stacked line-up including US rapper Doechii, British singer Raye, and legendary performer Sir Rod Stewart, who takes on the iconic legends slot. The 1975 at Glastonbury 2025: start time, setlist and everything you need to know

Whether you love them or hate them, The 1975 are long overdue an appearance at Glastonbury. Last playing an afternoon slot on the Other Stage almost a decade ago, the band responsible for sadboy pop bangers like 'Somebody Else', 'It's Not Living (If It's Not With You)' and 'Robbers' will make a triumphant return to the festival in 2025. The band fronted by Matty Healy are taking the top spot on Friday night at Glasto this year. It's likely to be an exciting show, with perhaps a few controversial comments from the front man thrown in every now and again. Let's just hope he doesn't consume any raw steak on stage. Here's everything you need to know about The 1975 at Glastonbury 2025. When are The 1975 headlining Glastonbury 2025? Matty Healy and co. are headlining Glastonbury on Friday, June 27. What time will The 1975 come on the Pyramid Stage? The 'About You' singers will play Glasto's main stage from 10.15pm to 11.45pm. Any news on the setlist yet? There is no official setlist, meaning it will be a surprise on the night, however this is what The 1975's last gig in Amsterdam looked like: The City Milk Me & You Together Song Anobrain You Medicine (with It's Not Living If It's Not With You snippet) Oh Caroline A Change of Heart All I Need to Hear Robbers Somebody Else I Always Wanna Die Sometimes Menswear Paris Then Because She Goes Be My Mistake Jesus Christ 2005 God Bless America If You're Too Shy Let Me Know Heart Out It's Not Living If It's Not With You Frail State of Mind Sex Give Yourself a Try Love It If We Made It About You Will any guests be joining The 1975's set? It's not unusual for Pyramid headliners to bring out special guests during their shows, however these are usually kept as a surprise. The 1975 have collaborated with Charli xcx, Beabadoobee, Travis Scott and The Japanese House in the past, so they could potentially be any of those artists (although we don't have high hopes for Scott coming out). There's also the chance the band could bring out someone totally random, or no guests at all. Fans will have to wait and see. Have The 1975 ever played at Glastonbury before? Yes, but they haven't done a set at Worthy Farm for nearly a decade. The 1975 first played Glasto on the Pyramid in 2014. They returned for a performance on the Other Stage in 2016.

Glastonbury Festival 2025 Friday headliners, set times and how to watch

Glastonbury Festival 2025 is in full swing and the line-up for Friday has been revealed, with performances from The 1975, Biffy Clyro and Loyle Carner Glastonbury Festival 2025 has kicked off, with the legendary music event welcoming hundreds of thousands of music enthusiasts and festival attendees earlier this week. Individuals from across the globe have flocked to the Pilton-based festival to catch a glimpse of some of the world's most adored artists. This year's spectacle will be headlined by The 1975, Neil Young, and Olivia Rodrigo, with Rod Stewart gracing the stage during the Legend's Tea Time slot on Sunday, June 29. However, there's much more to discover beyond a few stages. ‌ The Pyramid Stage will see The 1975 as its main act. If you're celebrating from the comfort of your own home, you can still join in the fun with BBC's The Glastonbury Hits Channel, which has already been broadcasting classic hits and memorable performances. This can be accessed via iPlayer. ‌ BBC iPlayer is providing over 90 hours of performances with its live streams of the five main stages - Pyramid, Other, West Holts, Woodsies and The Park - enabling viewers to compile their own list of must-see acts and plan their way through the weekend. Pyramid Stage sets will be available to stream live in Ultra High Definition and in British Sign Language, reports Somerset Live. Alternatively, if you prefer listening via the radio, you can tune in across BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 4 and BBC Sounds. Interestingly, there are two 'TBA' slots, one on the Pyramid Stage for a mere 35 minutes, starting at 4.55pm. There's been chatter suggesting a comeback for Lewis Capaldi, who last graced the festival in 2023. The other slot is at 11.30pm on Woodsies. This is rumoured to be Lorde, whose new album 'Virgin' is set to release today (Friday, June 27). Below are the line-ups and set times for all the main stages, plus a few extra for good measure.
