PM, Ireland's Deputy PM discuss ties, regional issues

QNA Dublin Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani met with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Minister for Defence of Ireland HE Simon Harris on Wednesday. The meeting discussed cooperation between the two countries and ways to support and enhance them, particularly in the diplomatic, economic, trade, and investment fields, as well as energy, technology, artificial intelligence, and small and medium-sized enterprises. It also discussed the developments in the region, particularly in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories. The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed Qatar and the Arab peoples' appreciation for Ireland's positions on the Palestinian issue, particularly its recognition of the State of Palestine, stressing that Ireland represents a model of peace and reconciliation in the world. For his part, the Ireland's deputy prime minister expressed his country's appreciation for Qatar's credible efforts aimed at resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomatic channels, and promoting peace, stability and development regionally and internationally. He extended his congratulations to the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs on receiving the Tipperary International Peace Award. He also emphasised Ireland's solidarity with Qatar following the attack launched by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard on Qatar's Al Udeid Air Base.

QNA Dublin President of the Republic of Ireland HE Michael Daniel Higgins on Wednesday met with Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani. At the start of the meeting, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to President of the Republic of Ireland, along with His Highness' wishes of good health and happiness for His Excellency, and continued progress and prosperity for the people of Ireland. The Irish president expressed to the PM greetings to HH the Amir, wishing His Highness good health and happiness, and further development and growth for the Qatari people. Bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to support and strengthen them were discussed during the meeting, in addition to the latest regional developments, as well as a number of topics of mutual interest. The Irish president expressed his country's appreciation for the State of Qatar's role in mediation and conflict resolution, and its ongoing efforts in supporting regional and international stability through peaceful and diplomatic means.
