The tally, which for decades ranked the bestselling full-lengths and EPs in America, had to evolve as streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and iHeartRadio became ubiquitous. It became impossible to ignore that millions of people preferred to stream their favorite albums rather than buy them. Now, the roster is created every week using a blend of pure purchases and streaming activity. That shift has helped dozens of projects remain on the tally for significantly longer stays than might otherwise have been possible. Queen is one such act that has benefited greatly from this move, and it's another huge week for the legendary rock outfit on the Billboard 200. Queen's Greatest Hits slips slightly on the Billboard 200 this frame, falling from No. 52 to No. 58, but it's the length of time the title has spent on the competitive list that's truly worth noting. As of this frame, the compilation has remained on the 200-spot ranking for 650 weeks. The compilation is just the twelfth album in history to make it to 650 frames on the Billboard 200. The last title to do so was Good Kid, M.A.A.D City by Kendrick Lamar, which is only about two months ahead of Queen's set. It looks like the next sets to join this exclusive club will be Back in Black by AC/DC and Take Care by Drake. Both of those titles need just a couple more months to reach the milestone. Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon continues to reign as the longest-charting title in the history of the Billboard 200, as it's fat approaching 1,000 weeks on the tally. The group of artists that have reached 650 frames on the list includes stars like Eminem, Metallica, Journey, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Michael Jackson. Greatest Hits is by far Queen's longest-charting project on the Billboard 200. In fact, it's one of only two from the outfit to rack up triple-digit frames on the tally. The other is Greatest Hits I, II & III: The Platinum Collection, which is up to 150 frames — less than a quarter of the amount of time Greatest Hits has managed. The compilation can currently be found on multiple Billboard rankings this frame. Though it's largely on the decline — which is not unexpected for a decades-old release — from time to time, it rises near the top 10 on both the Top Rock & Alternative Albums and the Top Rock Albums charts. It also holds at No. 3 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart. The title is about to crack 400 frames on the first two genre-specific lists, and it reached that milestone on the hard rock-only ranking months ago.

The group scored a new win last week thanks to a Record Store Day release with an EP of very early demos. That set is no longer available, as it appears to have sold out its limited run. It was issued exclusively on physical formats and sold only in brick-and-mortar locations, as is the case with most titles shared for the music industry initiative. As that title disappears, Queen's Greatest Hits becomes a bestseller again and climbs on multiple rankings, even returning to the throne on one Billboard tally. After collecting a new bestselling album title last week, Greatest Hits returns to two purchase-focused Billboard rankings. The compilation blasts back onto the Top Album Sales chart at No. 41. It arrives in that position and returns to the tally with a little more than 2,200 copies sold. That sum is actually down slightly, by just over 3%, from the previous period, but the list is not as competitive this time around, so even a dip in sales can aide a project in a comeback. The band's beloved collection is also back on the Vinyl Albums chart, which is similarly centered around purchases but only includes that specific format. Queen reenters that tally at No. 21. This frame, Greatest Hits also appears on four other rosters. It ranks highest on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart, where it lifts one space and returns to No. 1. In doing so, it replaces Nickelback's The Best of Nickelback: Volume 1, which steps down to the runner-up slot. The record has now spent 194 frames at the summit of the list of the most popular hard rock collections in the U.S., which is one of the most impressive accumulations of weeks at No. 1 on any Billboard roster. Greatest Hits also returns to the top 10 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums ranking, bolting from No. 11 to No. 8. It climbs one spot higher on the Top Rock Albums chart as well, after sitting down at No. 10 last frame. The singles-packed compilation also finds room once again on the Billboard 200, where it returns to the uppermost quarter of that fiercely competitive tally, stepping up from No. 55 to No. 50. The British rock outfit's Greatest Hits has earned hundreds of weeks on each U.S. chart on which it currently appears. At the moment, it has spent the least amount of time on the Vinyl Albums tally, though even there it has racked up 217 frames, which is still a large enough sum to make it one of the most successful titles on that list. On the Billboard 200, the project has now amassed 644 stays. It also passed a decade on the Top Album Sales chart several months ago.

Egypt, South Korea celebrate 30 years of diplomatic ties with traditional, modern Korean shows

The event aimed at honoring the historic diplomatic relationship between South Korea and Egypt, promoting cultural exchange and mutual appreciation between the two nations, and exploring future avenues for cooperation in arts, culture, and education. The event started with a high-level symposium divided into six sessions, uniting artists, academics, and culture leaders from both nations. K-culture visionary Yoo Jae-heon, CEO of Yoozam Studio, delivered the keynote address on 'K-pop and K-Culture Design,' highlighting South Korea's transformative influence on global culture. The panelists of the symposium tackled topics about Arts Education in the Digital Age; Art as a Catalyst for Social Change; Theatre Exchange: Bridging Traditions; Smart Cities & Heritage Preservation; and Photography's Digital Evolution. The symposium resulted in the 'Cairo Arts Declaration' to support the global artistic cooperation. The declaration was signed by 11 luminaries including Korea's Cho Kang-hoon and Egyptian architectural engineer and former actor Seif Abo El-Naga. It aims to safeguard artistic freedom and diversity, to foster cross-cultural co-creation and education, and to build sustainable creative ecosystems. The celebration included an amazing Korean cultural show titled 'Colorful Korea.' The show featured a mixture of traditional and modern Korean culture. The Korean Saengdonggam (SDG) Crew performed one of the amazing LED dances, wowing the Egyptian audience and the other diplomatic representatives of different countries. Meanwhile, the Korean lady group, QUEEN, amazed the audience with a modern vision of 'gugak' (traditional Korean music). Moreover, the captivating performance of Korean beatboxer Jung Min-hyuk received an enthusiastic interaction from the audience. One of the most memorable moments featured a soundscape that simulated the audio of a film being created, portraying the picture of Egyptian civilization. The performance was met with loud applause and was widely regarded as one of the event's highlights. In a video, Minister of Culture of Korea Yu In-chon praised the event as 'the dawn of a new art ecosystem where artists from Korea, Egypt, Asia, and Africa co-create without boundaries, harnessing cross-continental collaboration to shape tomorrow's cultural landscape.' Reflecting on three decades of bilateral cooperation, Kim Yong-hyon, ambassador of Korea, underscored the evolution of the relationship between the two countries. He noted that South Korea and Egypt have successfully elevated their partnership to a strategic level, marked by deepened collaboration in the fields of trade, technology, and culture. 'Egypt, as the cradle of civilization and a Middle Eastern cultural nexus, and Korea, a global powerhouse of K-Culture, have long thrived on dynamic exchanges,' he said, adding that These cultural bonds will undoubtedly deepen bilateral cooperation and solidarity over the next 30 years, turning shared aspirations into reality.
