Violent Israeli strikes target Nabatiyeh, Iqlim al-Tuffah
The Israeli army said it targeted Hezbollah "underground assets" in south Lebanon as it carried out Friday a series of violent airstrikes on Nabatiyeh al-Fawqa and the heights of Iqlim al-Tuffah in south Lebanon. The airstrikes came in two waves on the mountains overlooking Nabatiyeh and bunker buster bombs were used, Lebanon's state-run National News Agency reported. The strikes continued during the day as an Israeli drone strike targeted an apartment in a residential building in Nabatieh al-Fawqa and warplanes struck a region between the southern towns of Ansar and Zrariyeh. The strikes come a day after Hezbollah chief Sheikh Naim Qassem said Lebanon cannot submit to dictations nor surrender to occupation. "This is our country, we want it dignified and we will resist for that," Qassem said Thursday. Israel has kept up regular strikes on Lebanon, particularly in the south, since a November 27 ceasefire meant to end over a year of hostilities that left Hezbollah severely weakened. Friday's strikes were more intense than usual. The Israeli military said in a statement that its fighter jets struck a site used by Hezbollah to manage its fire and defense array in the area and is part of a significant underground project that was completely taken out of use. The Israeli army said it identified rehabilitation attempts by Hezbollah beforehand and struck infrastructure sites in the area. Hezbollah suffered significant losses during the war, which left over 4,000 people dead in Lebanon and caused destruction worth $11 billions. In Israel, 127 people died, including 80 soldiers. As part of the ceasefire deal, Hezbollah was pushed away from areas bordering Israel in south Lebanon and is not allowed to have an armed presence south of the Litani River. Friday's airstrikes were north of the river. The Israeli army was also to pull away from south Lebanon under the ceasefire deal but has kept its troops on five hills it deems "strategic."

Saudi Arabia's Project for Landmine Clearance, known as Masam and launched by Saudi aid agency KSrelief, has successfully destroyed more than 4,600 explosive devices left behind from the war in Yemen. The operation took place on Thursday in the Wadi Dufs area of Zinjibar, in Abyan Governorate, east of Yemen's de facto capital Aden. The project reported the destruction of 4,620 pieces of ammunition and remnants of war, including 155 projectiles, 235 combat fuses, 85 pieces of armor-piercing ammunition, 4,096 bullets, 13 anti-personnel mines, five anti-tank mines, and 31 grenades. The Masam Project added that its efforts aimed to enhance community security and protect the lives of civilians in Yemen. Engineer Munther Qassem, commander of the first special task force at Masam, said that the operation had been conducted in a safe area, away from residential communities and agricultural regions, ensuring full compliance with international standards. He added: 'The work of the special task teams does not stop throughout the year, given the importance of our missions in protecting the lives of innocent citizens.' Qassem added that the team had successfully carried out the operation despite the high temperatures and rugged terrain of Abyan. The Masam Project stands as a vital contribution to enabling a safe and dignified life for Yemenis. KSrelief has implemented 3,438 diverse humanitarian projects across 107 countries, valued at over $7 billion, since its launch in May 2015.

Sheikh Qassem: "Our choice is not to submit to dictates"
Beirut - Saba: The Secretary-General of Lebanon's Hezbollah, Sheikh Naim Qassem, affirmed, "We in Hezbollah support Iran's independent choices, stand against American hegemony and occupation, and oppose Israeli occupation." He stated, "The choice is to liberate the land, build the nation, and not submit to dictates or surrender to the enemy. We will resist for our country, no matter the sacrifices." During his speech at the first night of the Ashura mourning councils in Beirut's southern suburbs, Sheikh Qassem said, "Iran has proven that it alone is capable of confronting this global tyranny, alongside the criminal Israeli regime and with significant European support." He added, "Iran does not receive support from any other countries, nor do other nations fight alongside it. It has no supply lines—it stands alone, relying on the capabilities it has built itself." Sheikh Qassem pointed out that "Iran has solidified its regional and international position through its convictions and choices, without conceding anything." He emphasized that "today, Iran is stronger than before the war. It is a supporter of the resistance, an ally to its neighbors and friends, and capable of ensuring collective security for the region's countries without needing America or its allies." Sheikh Qassem questioned, "Why has this aggression against Iran occurred?" explaining that "the central goal of America and Israel in waging war on Iran was to destroy any independent, influential force supporting resistance and the liberation of Palestine in our region." He stressed that "Israel is an expansionist entity that will not be satisfied with all of Palestine's lands, nor with occupying the Golan and beyond—it seeks control over the entire region, as proven by events and facts." Sheikh Qassem affirmed that "Iran has thwarted the three objectives of the aggression: canceling uranium enrichment (which Iran possesses and continues), damaging its missile program (which remains a defensive capability, striking the enemy), and overthrowing its regime (which did not happen)." He noted that Iran has a courageous leader, a great people, and the Revolutionary Guards and security forces, who have made immense sacrifices. Sheikh Qassem declared, "This year, we raised the slogan: 'I will never abandon you, O Hussein.' We will not abandon you because you represent truth, your path leads us to God, and we seek to raise our generations in obedience to God." He added, "You, the people of resistance and honor, have lifted the nation's head high, proving that Hussein lives within us. You will continue the pledge of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah until we achieve all goals—victory or martyrdom—on the path of Imam Hussein (AS)." Whatsapp Telegram Email Print more of (International)

Qassem warns attack on Iran to have 'hefty prices'
by Naharnet Newsdesk 6 hours Hezbollah chief Sheikh Naim Qassem warned in an interview published Monday that 'the attack on Iran will have hefty prices because the entire region is in danger.' In an interview with the Hezbollah-affiliated al-Ahed news portal, Qassem also slammed U.S. President Donald Trump's threats against Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. 'Trump's threat to assassinate Imam Khamenei is a vile action and at the same an evidence of weakness,' Qassem added. 'Trump is ignorant of the reverence of this great leader among Muslims and in the world and ignorant of the dangerous repercussions of such threats,' the Hezbollah leader went on to say. He also stressed that 'Iran will emerge victorious, because it is righteous and the one being aggressed against,' adding that 'Iran has the leadership of the brave supreme leader who is insisting that Iran be dignified and strong.' 'Iran has unified people who have left behind their disputes to be unified in the face of the American-Israeli aggression,' Qassem added. As for Israel's continued occupation and attacks in Lebanon, Qassem said Hezbollah supports the Lebanese state's 'diplomatic choice' but would take the 'appropriate decision' if diplomacy fails to achieve Lebanon's objectives. Hezbollah is 'ready to adopt any choice taken by the state to halt the aggression and secure Israel's withdrawal,' he said. Noting that the reconstruction of areas destroyed in the latest war with Israel is the 'top priority' for Hezbollah and for 'the course of the state and its recovery,' Qassem said his group still retains military 'capabilities.' 'The resistance shall stay and continue and it is repairing itself. It has expressed the strength of its continuity through its people, who rushed to their villages in the South and offered martyrs to remain in their land, and also through the million-man funeral for its two (slain) secretaries-general (Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Sayyed Hashem Safieddine) … as well as through its effective contributions to the process of building the state and its institutions,' Qassem went on to say.
