Ashghal, QSC train school students through ‘Future Engineer' programme
QNA Doha The Public Works Authority (Ashghal), in collaboration with Qatar Scientific Club (QSC), launched the fourth edition of the 'Future Engineer' programme, which targets high school students, with the aim of familiarising them with the various specialisations and fields of engineering by offering several workshops in engineering disciplines to highlight their importance and advantages. Running until July 23, the programme offers participants a rich engineering curriculum delivered through specialised workshops and site visits across various Ashghal departments, as well as hands-on project work in the laboratories and departments of the Qatar Scientific Club. During the first week, students received both theoretical and practical training through visits and hands-on experiences, including exposure to the daily operations of departments such as Engineering Services, Information Systems, Quality and Safety, and Building Projects. They also tour the Assets Sector building to learn about wastewater and road network monitoring and the role of technology in asset operation and maintenance. The second week took place at Qatar Scientific Club, where students engaged in workshops and applied their knowledge in innovative projects addressing real-world engineering challenges in Qatar. Training sessions covered basic engineering concepts, teamwork, creative thinking, project planning and management, communication and presentation skills, and the use of 3D digital fabrication tools for building prototype models. Activities include team building, project planning, prototype design, technical sessions on cutting-edge construction methods, and the development of engineering foundations for the student projects. The programme is designed to develop students' engineering skills and equip them with practical knowledge to help shape their future career paths within an engaging and interactive learning environment. Commenting on the initiative, Head of External Relations at Ashghal Fatima Al Kuwari stated that the programme reflects the Authority's commitment to community partnership initiatives.

Education, sports ministries organise 'School Innovation Incubators'
DOHA: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and the Qatar Scientific Club, with the support of the Social and Sports Activities Support Fund, launched the 'School Innovation Incubators' initiative. The launch took place during a ceremony held on Tuesday morning at the Qatar Scientific Club headquarters, in the presence of Minister of Education and Higher Education HELolwah bint Rashid Al Khater; Minister of Sports and Youth HESheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani; Minister of Communications and Information Technology HE Mohammed bin Ali bin Mohammed Al Mannai, along with a number of senior officials and representatives of partner entities . The initiative aims to create a school environment that encourages innovation and scientific thinking, and to enable students to develop their skills in the fields of science, technology, and research, thus enhancing their future contribution to building a sustainable knowledge economy . The incubators are distributed across eight public schools in different regions of the country and are equipped with specialized laboratories for digital manufacturing, 3D printing, robotics, artificial intelligence, electronics, and communications. The incubators also provide dedicated spaces for project design and implementation, as well as technical libraries containing advanced tools and materials that enable students to transform their ideas into viable prototypes. The Science Club has overseen the preparation of these facilities and provided the necessary technical training for teaching staff . The ceremony began with a panel discussion featuring Their Excellencies the Ministers and senior officials, followed by a video presentation about the joint projects. The schools and partners were then honored. The students then presented their innovative projects, which reflected the extent to which they benefited from the experience and the opportunities it provided them to implement and develop their ideas. School Innovation Incubators initiative launched

In this context, Director of the Youth Affairs Department at the Ministry of Sports and Youth Fawaz Abdullah Al Musaifri confirmed that the school innovation incubators initiative includes eight innovation incubators distributed across eight schools across the country. The incubators were designed and implemented under the supervision of the Qatar Scientific Club. Faculty members at the participating schools, who operate innovation incubators, underwent special training courses, which will later contribute to the qualification and training of students using the incubators, both during the summer and during the upcoming academic year. Two Qatari innovators clinch first place at ITEX in Malaysia
QNA Doha Qatari innovators Amna Issa Al Kuwari and Fatima Issa Al Kuwari clinched first place and the gold medal in the individual category during their participation in the 36th International Invention, Innovation, and Technology Exhibition (ITEX), recently held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This crowning achievement was the outcome of an innovative concept and rigorous research efforts, culminating in the development of a smart bracelet designed to prevent drowsiness-induced traffic accidents. The device functions by detecting early signs of fatigue and issuing immediate alerts to drivers, thereby bolstering road safety and curbing accident rates. The project aligns squarely with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030. The two innovators touted this milestone and affirmed that the win reflects their love for science and development, an organic outcome of their diligent work and the significant support young Qataris receive from the prudent leadership.
