Katara organises diverse events to promote environmental awareness
DOHA: The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) has organised a series of diverse environmental events to promote environmental awareness among various segments of society. The events, organised by Katara as part of its celebration of World Environment Day, included an exhibition titled 'The Story of the Earth in a Stamp', held in collaboration with the Qatar Society of Engineers. The exhibition showcased the stories of the Earth through postage stamps, which carried valuable environmental messages. Katara also organised the 'A Land That Tells and Eyes That Document' exhibition, which highlighted the aesthetics of the environment through the lenses of a group of photographers whose works represent an invitation to contemplate nature and a message to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the planet and its creatures. This exhibition reflects the importance of the environment and promotes collective responsibility to protect it for a more balanced and cleaner future. A number of photographers participated in the exhibition, including Jassim Ahmed Al Buainain, Hamad Khalifa Al Khulaifi, Mohammed Al Shaabi, Nasser Aqeel Al Emadi, Ali Saif Al-Din, Abdullah Al Muadhin, Abdulqader Allam, Wassim Al Khader, Faisal Al Jarkas, Saeed Mohammed Fayrouz, Mohammed Najib Nasr, Abdullah Abdulhamid Al Muslih, Khalifa Al Mansouri, Ahmed Al Fadala, and Jassim Al Maliki. The photographers took visitors on a contemplative visual journey through their photographs, capturing rare scenes of Qatar's wildlife, from birds soaring in the sky to vibrant marine creatures in the depths of the water, highlighting the details of nature. As part of a series of diverse environmental activities, Katara Art Studios hosted a series of workshops for children, including the 'Creating Plant Pots' workshop, the 'Creating a Luminous Insect' workshop, and the '3D Art from the Marine Environment' workshop, scheduled for next Sunday. The workshops aim to develop children's environmental awareness and enrich their knowledge, artistic and creative skills, thus strengthening their connection to the environment around them in a fun and interactive way.

QSE hails innovation support law as historic step to empower creators, researchers
QNA Doha The Qatar Society of Engineers (QSE) affirmed that the novel law supporting innovation and scientific research represents a qualitative leap and an important strategic platform for opening up broad horizons for innovators and researchers in various sectors, particularly engineering and technology, which represent the backbone of modern development in Qatar. In a statement yesterday, the society expressed its appreciation and gratitude to HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, for the issuance of Law No. (8) of 2025 regarding supporting of innovation and scientific research, and Amiri Decision No. (19) of 2025 establishing the Qatar Foundation for Supporting Innovation, Scientific Research. Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the QSE Eng. Amna Mohammed Al Naama, indicated that this initiative reflects the insightful vision of the Qatari leadership to build a sustainable national economy based on knowledge and innovation. She emphasized that the new foundation will be a key catalyst for unleashing latent potential and encouraging creative ideas, contributing to addressing local and global challenges and strengthening Qatar's position as a leading regional center for research and development. It affirmed its aspiration to establish a strong and effective governance system for the institution.

Doha gears up to host QIFMCE from Oct 20
QNA Doha Doha will host the Qatar International Facility Management Conference and Exhibition (QIFMCE) from October 20 to 22, 2025, at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC). The event, being organised by the Qatar Society of Engineers (QSE) under the theme 'From Construction to Management and Sustainability', will bring together more than 450 domestic and international entities specialising in energy efficiency, digital transformation, and integrated safety and security solutions. At a press conference on Sunday, QSE revealed the details of the event, which intends to strengthen Qatar's standing as a pioneering regional destination in the field of managing smart facilities by spotlighting operational efficiency, reducing emissions, and enhancing user welfare in alignment with the Qatar National Vision 2030 in the areas of sustainability and smart urban development. The conference's technical agenda will delve into the prevailing challenges besetting the facility management market and examine pathways for embedding sustainability into building operations. It will also discuss the role of advanced technologies, including the Internet of Things (IoT), digital twin systems, and AI, in bolstering asset efficiency and prolonging operational lifespans. Alongside this event, an exhibition will feature 130 booths and draw wide participation from leading firms and institutions active in the sector. It will also see the launch of the 'Outstanding Facility Management Company Award', an initiative designed to honour innovation and operational excellence in this field. Addressing the press conference, Chairman of the Conference and Vice Chairman of QSE's Board of Directors, Eng. Ahmed Al Sumaiti, said the event is a focal point between the construction sector and the modern facility management system. He highlighted that the conference provides a comprehensive platform to demonstrate the best global practices and Qatari success stories. Eng. Al Sumaiti emphasised that QSE accords special importance to supporting the shift toward data-driven, sustainable facility management, affirming that through this conference it seeks to offer an interactive space for dialogue between the public and private sectors, as well as startups, culminating in practical solutions that bolster the competitiveness of the Qatari market. The conference is a strategic opportunity to build national capabilities in this area by imparting knowledge and expertise among participants from Qatar and abroad, in addition to enhancing technical and occupational capacities, he said.
