Two fighting for life after horror crash
Three people have been seriously injured, two critically, following a devastating head-on crash on a highway south of Gympie. Emergency crews rushed to the scene on the Mary Valley Hwy at Gildora, near the intersection with Ashton Rd, just after 11.45am on Friday. Police believe two vehicles, including a blue Ford ute, collided head-on along the 100km/h stretch, leaving one person trapped in the wreckage. A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said a man in his 60s was taken to Gympie Hospital with potentially life-threatening chest injuries. A man in his 20s was flown to a southeast Queensland hospital with serious chest injuries, while a third patient, whose age and gender have not yet been confirmed, remained in a critical condition at the scene on Friday afternoon. The Mary Valley Hwy has been closed at Lawson Rd, several kilometres from the crash site, with diversions now in place. More to come.

Woman 'bitten by big cat' at Queensland zoo
A woman has been airlifted to hospital after reportedly being bitten by an animal at a zoo in southern Queensland . Emergency services were called to Darling Downs Zoo in Pilton, south of Toowoomba, about 8.23am today following reports a woman in her 50s had suffered injuries to her arm. It is understood the woman, believed to be an employee of the zoo, was bitten by a big cat. The woman was airlifted to hospital after suffering an animal bite. (9News) Queensland Ambulance confirmed the woman had suffered a "significant arm injury" following an animal bite. She has been taken by rescue helicopter to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition. Boy is fighting for life after a freak accident at a popular camping spot
A boy has been airlifted to hospital in a critical condition after a horrific fall from a swing at a popular camping spot. Paramedics were called to Double Island Point Conservation Park in Queensland 's Gympie region shortly before 11.30am on Saturday after a primary school-aged boy fell from the playground equipment. The LifeFlight helicopter was also deployed at the scene. 'The LifeFlight critical care doctor and Queensland Ambulance Service flight paramedic treated the boy for head injuries,' a statement read. He was airlifted to Brisbane 's Queensland Children's Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he's now fighting for life. Double Island Point Conservation Park is a popular spot with locals and tourists.

Elderly man trapped up to neck in silo
A man has become trapped after falling into a silo filled with urea fertiliser in regional Queensland. Emergency services were called to a property on Roma Taroom Rd in Eurombah, between the Shire of Banana and Western Downs in regional Queensland, about 1.250pm Sunday after reports a man fell into a silo. A Queensland Fire Department (QFD) spokesman told NewsWire a family member raised the alarm after the man became trapped up to his neck after falling into the silo. The silo, which was on private property, is believed to be filled with is a highly concentrated nitrogen fertiliser, commonly used by farmers. A Queensland Ambulance spokesman told NewsWire crews were on the scene to rescue the man, believed to be in his 80s. Three rescue crews are on the scene, who have been specially trained in working in confined spaces. The spokesman told NewsWire the man has been strapped into a harness, though the rescue operation is 'still in action'. More to come
