Warriors Leave Promising Center Out of Summer League Plans

Warriors Leave Promising Center Out of Summer League Plans originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The NBA Summer League offers the opportunity for young players to continue their development and showcase why they deserve a spot on a team's roster, and maybe even their rotation. The Golden State Warriors need no such convincing from one key youngster. Advertisement One of the biggest holes on the roster this season for the Warriors was at the center position. That will remain a focal point of the offseason for the organization. Adding reinforcements in the frontcourt should be expected. While the Warriors may be looking for a boost to their starting lineup, there was one player who emerged as a viable rotational option in 2024-25 at that spot. That player was Quinten Post. The rookie big man averaged 8.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game, shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 40.8 percent from 3-point. Advertisement The Warriors center even appeared in the postseason for the team. His impact there was lackluster by comparison to the regular season. Despite that, the Warriors have reportedly seen enough to make a key decision on Post moving forward. Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area revealed that the Warriors big man will not have a prominent role in the Summer League. The indications here are that Golden State has seen enough from their young big. "Quinten Post is not on the Warriors' summer league roster. He will not be playing summer league for the Warriors anymore I'm told, but likely will be around the team working out," Johnson wrote on Twitter/X. One would imagine this decision being inspired by Post's strong contributions this past season. The Warriors appear to believe that their young center has done enough to earn himself a prominent spot with the team moving forward. Warriors exercise team options for Post, Santos, make qualifying offer to Kuminga

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The Golden State Warriors exercised team options for center Quinten Post and forward Gui Santos on Sunday and extended a qualifying offer of $7.9 million to forward Jonathan Kuminga. Post had his second-year option for $1.9 million and Santos his third-year option of $2.2 million that isn't guaranteed. Advertisement Golden State will now be able to match any offer Kuminga has from another team and also extended a qualifying offer to guard Taran Armstrong. By extending a qualifying offer to both players prior to Sunday's deadline, Golden State owns the right to match any offer sheets they may sign with another team. All will become restricted free agents on July 1. Kuminga's future with the franchise is one of the biggest storylines of the offseason for Golden State, which lost in the second round of the playoffs to Minnesota. He missed much of the season with a right ankle injury, averaging 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 24.3 minutes over 47 games with 10 starts. ___ AP NBA:

But he's not breaking down plays or stats, he's focused on something much bigger. He's talking about the man at the center - Stephen Curry. His recent injury in Game 3 had ripple effects no one expected. One teammate's comment has got fans thinking: was Curry really the difference maker that could have flipped the result? The answer might be closer than it seems. Quinten Post points to Stephen Curry's absence as turning point On June 27, Warriors forward Quinten Post shared his thoughts on X, reflecting on the Golden State Warriors playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He said, 'I think within the organization, there's a belief we would've won that series if Steph [Curry] stayed healthy. I mean, you can't deny his impact... He just has so much gravity.' Post emphasized Curry's game-changing presence. He noted that Stephen Curry doesn't just score, his movement, gravity, and chemistry with teammates pull defenses apart. Post insisted that without Curry's injury in Game 3, when Stephen Curry bruised his knee, the whole dynamic of the series would've stayed in Golden State Warriors' favor. Fans and media have taken note of his bold claim. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Here's The Price for a 1-Day Walk-in Shower In 2025 Homebuddy Learn More Undo Who is Quinten Post and why he's speaking up Quinten Post, 25, joined the Golden State Warriors earlier this season. He's worked alongside Curry during practice, games, and wear-and-tear routines. Since Curry's injury, Post has watched the team struggle - defenses collapsed without the constant threat Curry provides. Post knows firsthand how much defense shifts chasing Steph open up shots for everyone else. Post's comment picked up weight because Stephen Curry is a two-time MVP, a seven-time All-Star, and widely considered the franchise's heart. Curry missed Games 4 to 6 in that playoff round, and the Golden State Warriors lost 4–2 to the Minnesota Timberwolves. With Curry healthy, the team was up 2–1. Quinten Post pointed to that turning point as proof that Curry's presence was more than a boost; it was critical! Quinten Post Gets Candid About Warriors Role After Pelicans Win

Quinten Post was not supposed to be a rotational player on a team with title aspirations, and he certainly was not supposed to be one of the better shooters on the Golden State Warriors. After being selected 52nd overall in the 2024 NBA Draft, Post spent most of the season in the G League and was expected to be an end-of-bench guy at best. However, he is shooting 42.9 percent from deep and averaging 8.7 points per game this season for the Warriors. While he was an excellent shooter in college, he didn't expect to find the same kind of success in the NBA. He never attempted that many shots from deep in his four NCAA seasons, although it's becoming almost expected. Advertisement At an even seven feet tall, Post was expected to play a more traditional center role off the bench in the NBA. "I've never shot at this value, at full volume, at Boston College," confessed Post on Friday. "I was way more like a usage player where I was in the action, facilitating, and scoring inside. So I didn't really know that this was going to be my role, like 7-foot spotter or shooter or something like that, you know? But yeah, I noticed this is where right now I'm having a lot of success. Like I said earlier, I feel like I'm doing the team a disservice when I'm not being aggressive with my shot."
