Dar calls on Malaysian prime minister

PHOTO: RADIO PAKISTAN Foreign Minister shaq Dar on Friday called on Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim, on the sidelines of 32nd ASEAN Regional Forum Ministerial Meeting. During the meeting, he conveyed warm wishes from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to deepening bilateral ties with Malaysia. He also appreciated Malaysia's leadership as ASEAN Chair for the year 2025. Dar also met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Prak Sokhonn, on sidelines of 32nd ARF in Kuala Lumpur.

PHOTO: RADIO PAKISTAN Listen to article Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday met with world leaders on the sidelines of the 32nd ASEAN Regional Forum in Kuala Lumpur. In his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, both the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening of bilateral relations and agreed to meet again next week during SCO council of Ministers meeting, a DPM's Office statement said. Dar also met Australian Foreign Minister Senator Hon Penny Wong. They reiterated strong Pakistan-Australia ties and commitment to enhance cooperation in trade, education, and people-to-people links. In a "productive and forward-looking engagement," he said Pakistani diaspora and cricket were a living bridge between the countries. Both sides agreed to boost bilateral trade, currently at $1.186 billion, promote academic partnerships, and increase high-level political exchanges. Separately, Dar met with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath and reaffirmed the enduring strength of Pakistan-Sri Lanka bilateral relations. During the meeting, both ministers expressed satisfaction over the robustness of ties between the two countries and pledged to further deepen cooperation in key areas. The discussions focused on high-level political exchanges, expanding economic partnerships, religious tourism, and educational collaboration, a DPM's Office statement said. Dar emphasized the importance of promoting people-to-people contacts and sectoral cooperation, noting that the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka is rooted in shared regional interests and historical bonds. The two ministers also held in-depth discussions on regional and global developments, including recent geopolitical shifts in South Asia and beyond. They agreed on the need to strengthen multilateral collaboration and continue supporting peace, stability, and inclusive growth across the region.

Pakistan to participate in ASEAN forum

PHOTO: RADIO PAKISTAN Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will represent Pakistan at the 32nd Ministerial Meeting of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on July 11 (tomorrow). The high-level meeting will bring together foreign ministers and senior representatives from 27 ARF member countries, as well as the secretary-general of ASEAN, to deliberate on key political and security challenges facing the Asia-Pacific region, a DPM's Office statement said. The agenda will emphasise strengthening peace, stability, and multilateral cooperation through constructive dialogue. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dar will articulate Pakistan's perspective on regional and global developments, underscoring the country's commitment to multilateralism and peaceful conflict resolution. He is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with his Malaysian counterpart and other foreign ministers attending the forum. During his stay in Kuala Lumpur, the DPM will also interact with members of the Pakistani diaspora in Malaysia. Established in 1994, the ARF is a premier multilateral platform for political and security consultations in the Asia-Pacific.

Dar reviews project pay scale reforms

PHOTO: RADIO PAKISTAN Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar Tuesday chaired a meeting of the committee constituted by the Prime Minister to review the project pay scale framework. The meeting was attended by the Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, secretaries of Establishment and Planning and senior officials from relevant departments, DPM Office said in a press release. The committee reviewed existing policies for hiring skilled professionals under special pay scales, and considered multiple reform proposals, including competitive pay scales, and performance-based incentives.

450 pilgrims return from Iran

PHOTO: RADIO PAKISTAN Listen to article Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has confirmed that 450 Pakistani pilgrims have been successfully evacuated from Iran, stating that the government was taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of Pakistani nationals in the region. In a statement released on X on Sunday, Dar said the evacuation of 450 Pakistani pilgrims from Iran was completed on Saturday. He added that arrangements are also being made for the safe evacuation of the first batch of 154 Pakistani students stranded in Iran. The foreign minister further stated that efforts are underway to evacuate and ensure the safe accommodation of Pakistanis stranded in Iraq. "Our embassy in Iraq is in contact with Pakistani Zaireen who are stranded due to the closure of airspace. Measures are underway to ensure their safe stay in Iraq and possible evacuation," said Dar. A 24-hour Crisis Management Unit (CMU) is active at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assist Pakistani nationals. In the early hours of Friday, Israel launched an attack on Iran, targeting the country's nuclear facilities, ballistic missile factories, and military personnel. The assault marked the beginning of what Israel described as a prolonged military engagement, carried out under the pretext of preventing Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon. Seventy-eight people, including six nuclear scientists and senior generals of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), were killed in the attack. The semi-official Tasnim news agency identified the scientists as Abdulhamid Minouchehr, Ahmadreza Zolfaghari, Seyyed Amirhossein Faqhi, Motablizadeh, Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi and Fereydoun Abbasi. Iranian ballistic missile attacks killed three people and injured at least 91 across central Israel, in response to Israeli airstrikes targeting key nuclear and military sites inside Iran. In the Tel Aviv suburb of Ramat Gan, nine buildings were destroyed and hundreds of apartments were damaged, Haaretz reported. Approximately 400 residents were evacuated from the Greater Tel Aviv area due to structural damage. Visuals showed widespread devastation, including vehicles set ablaze and residential blocks flattened.
