Kota Kinabalu: The National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund (Tekun Nasional) has channelled RM43.71 million to 2,213 entrepreneurs in Sabah through various financing schemes in the first five months of this year. Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick said the amount involved eight financing schemes for micro-entrepreneurs and contractors, with the Kontrak-i Financing Scheme receiving the highest allocation this year. Advertisement For this year alone, an allocation of RM71.28 million had been set aside for the Kontrak-i Financing Scheme, the top-funded financing scheme, he said in a statement, Thursday. Ewon said other financing schemes include Tekun Niaga, the Craft Entrepreneur Financing Scheme, the Tekun Online Financing Scheme, the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Entrepreneur Financing Scheme, the Teman Tekun Scheme, the Usahawan Tamu Financing Scheme (SPUT) and the Indian Community Entrepreneur Development Scheme. He said RM2.05 million was channelled to 408 entrepreneurs under SPUT from January to May, while RM228,000 was disbursed to 17 craft entrepreneurs under the Craft Entrepreneur Financing Scheme. Ewon added that RM1.07 million was channelled to 36 applicants under the TVET Financing Scheme, which recorded an encouraging response. Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick ( pic ) said RM71.28 million has been allocated for the Kontrak-i scheme alone in 2025. He said Tekun Nasional, under his ministry, provides microfinancing for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) nationwide. From January to May this year, RM43.71 million was disbursed to 2,213 entrepreneurs in Sabah through various schemes, including the newly introduced SPUT, TVET and Craft Entrepreneur schemes.
