Breathtaking museum-home inspires awe among netizens
HOME is more than just the brick and mortar. It is the embodiment of one's personality, from the choice of furniture, layout to the very colours on the wall. While people are usually content with a home that looks like everyone else, with the exception of some minor deviations, some people go the extra mile to impress. Take it from a charming Malay lady who wowed the internet community with her expansive landed home which is designed around the concept of a museum. The video came to light after being posted by netizen @bckupacc99 who said it looked like a resort from the outside, but a museum from the inside. Even more astounding was the fact that a good many of the decorations were hand-made by the lady herself. Wood made up the floor, and also a good deal of the home, giving the place a warmth that few homes can compare to. The video, although brief, was a feast for the eyes, as well as serving as an inspiration for others looking to redesign their homes. On another note, homes revolving around themes of antiquity actually fetch a good price on the market despite their apparent lack of touch with the times. Take for example, the heritage homes in George Town, Penang, which commands a market rate of about RM1.6 mil. A pair of adjoining 3-story heritage shophouses on Macalister Lane is further listed for a whopping RM7.3 mil. Such homes have since been turned into cafes, hotels and even mini-museums which serve as tourist attractions. Lawsuit issue: Fazura leaves it to her lawyers
NEARLY two months have passed since allegations emerged that the company owned by popular actress and entrepreneur Nur Fazura Sharifuddin (picture) failed to settle a RM4.65 million debt owed to a headscarf manufacturing factory. Despite being repeatedly pressed by the claimant as well as by netizens on social media to address the issue, the celebrity has remained silent, going about her daily life, including promoting her headscarves on social media. Speaking to reporters at a press conference after launching the music video of her latest single 'Luar Biasa' here last night, Fazura, 41, said the lawsuit against her company is a confidential matter and has been handed over to her lawyers for further action. Fazura, who is also a singer and television host, said she preferred not to comment further as it involves two separate entities. 'Honestly, there's nothing I can explain because we have to understand that I, Fazura, and the company are two different entities. I can't comment on company matters as that is beyond my scope as an individual. The company is the company, and Fazura is me personally, that's the distinction. 'So really, I can't say much about the company or whatever is going on. I've left all my company-related matters to my lawyers to take action,' she said. Fazura made these remarks when asked by reporters to comment on the RM4.65 million lawsuit filed by a headscarf supplier against her company Pink Fate Sdn Bhd. Admitting that she is affected by the controversy, the 'Pisau Cukur' star said such issues are among the challenges any entrepreneur must face. 'What haven't I gone through in the past eight months? Of course, I've been affected. I'm not someone without feelings but as an entrepreneur, I understand this is normal. I don't think it's necessary to explain, because outsiders may not understand and could twist the facts,' she said. 'I know the business I'm running isn't a small one and I'm confident all entrepreneurs out there will understand the challenges that come with being in the business world,' she added. According to media reports early last month, headscarf manufacturer Obor Holding Sdn Bhd is taking legal action against Pink Fate for allegedly owing the company RM4.65 million. Obor Holding claimed that Pink Fate had only paid RM2.68 million out of the total RM7.3 million value of headscarves supplied since June 2022. — BERNAMA

Manufacturing: Sabah leads with RM7.3 billion investors

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah recorded RM7.3 billion in manufacturing investments in the first quarter this year, making it Malaysia's top destination for the sector. State Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe said Sabah also ranked third overall in total investments across all sectors, adding that the next step is to empower local SMEs to industrialise and compete globally. 'This is a positive sign that Sabah is gaining traction, but we cannot just rely on external investment. Our local businesses must participate in this growth and move beyond being just small,' he said, when officiating the SME Sabah Conference 2025, Friday. Phoong said SMEs must shift towards becoming small and medium industries (SMIs) that produce export-ready goods. 'We must create, not just consume. We need more products made in Sabah, exported from Sabah,' he said. To support this, he said the State Government has allocated RM15 million this year to help small businesses acquire machinery, adopt automation and scale up operations. Advertisement 'This budget is meant to support our smallest players, to help them upgrade and grow,' he said. He also noted that Sabah's export volume rose by 11 per cent up to May, indicating an increasingly stronger industrial base. 'This shows that when we build capacity, Sabah can move toward becoming an export-driven economy. We cannot depend on imports forever,' he said. The conference was officially recognised by the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), which he said affirms the quality and technical relevance of the discussions held. 'To our engineers and technical experts, your knowledge is vital in strengthening Sabah's industrial ecosystem,' Phoong said. He announced the development of a 100-megawatt Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Lahad Datu, the largest in Southeast Asia. 'The project will help stabilise Sabah's power grid and meet the rising demands of an expanding industrial sector,' He also welcomed AirAsia's new Kota Kinabalu-Taipei-Fukuoka route, saying it would benefit both the tourism and investment sectors. 'It's not just about tourists. More direct connectivity means more investors and business travellers can easily access Sabah,' he added. However, he voiced concern over upcoming federal policies that could increase costs for SMEs, including the rationalisation of RON95 and diesel subsidies, SST expansion and the Sabah Labour Ordinance set to take effect July 1. 'We should not implement all these policies simultaneously. Each must be carefully reviewed to determine which should move forward, which should be postponed and which need to be re-evaluated,' he said. Phoong said he had raised these concerns during a national SME consultation chaired by Datuk Ewon Benedick and welcomed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's openness to policy reviews. He said Sabah's unemployment rate had dropped to 6.7 per cent in the first quarter, down from 8 per cent last year, and noted that companies such as ConocoPhillips have reaffirmed investment in the State. 'This tells us the economy is moving forward and investor confidence is returning,' he said. Phoong concluded on a light note, saying employers are now looking for the right people and so are voters.
