The Fredun Pharmaceuticals reported net profit at ₹ 6.77 Crore during the quarter ending June 2025, which was 63.82% higher compared to ₹ 4.13 crore in the year-ago quarter. As per its disclosed unaudited financials for the first quarter of fiscal year 26, the revenues at ₹ 119.86 crore grew 52.08% compared to ₹ 78.81 crore in the year-ago quarter. The boost to the bottom line was further provided by the improved operating performance. The Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization, or EBITDA, at ₹ 16.99 crore grew 62.15% over ₹ 10.48 crore in the year-ago quarter Fredun Medhora, Managing Director, in a statement said that We are pleased to report a strong start to FY26 with a significant year-on-year growth in net profit and healthy improvement across all key financial metrics." The performance as per Medhora reflects the successful execution of our growth strategy and the continued demand for the company's diversified portfolio across domestic and international markets. The company's generics portfolio continues to strengthen, with over 1,200 products currently under registration. The current order book stands at over ₹ 200 crore, providing strong revenue visibility and momentum for the upcoming quarters. The company is diversified into generics, cosmetics, nutraceuticals, mobility, and animal healthcare products too. Maharashtra launches ‘Manhole to Machinehole' scheme to end manual scavenging, Rs 504 crore sanctioned
Days after Maharashtra deputy Chief Minister and Finance minister Ajit Pawar announced in the state legislative assembly that the government will implement time bound program to completely stop manual scavenging, the 'Manhole to Machinehole' scheme was announced on Wednesday. Under the scheme, drains, sewer lines, and septic tanks shall be cleaned using mechanised equipment. The scheme includes procurement of cleaning machinery, modern vehicles, and emergency response sanitation units. It is being implemented by the Urban Development Department (UDD) with an approved funding of Rs 504 crore and an additional RS 100 crore was sanctioned in the Monsoon Session of 2024–25 and disbursed to the department by March 31, 2025. Procurement of robotic units, cleaning equipment, and emergency vehicles has also begun. Pawar directed that maintenance of these vehicles for three years and training of sanitation workers for operating them must be ensured by the respective agency. He also directed the UDD to prepare a special proposal for the housing of sanitation workers. Under the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Shram Safalya Awas Yojana, dwelling units are provided free of cost and on ownership basis to the eligible heirs of conservancy workers post their retirement or in the event of death while in service. At present, the benefit is extended only to sanitation workers who have completed 25 years or more of service. Pawar has directed the UDD to prepare a proposal to reduce this service requirement from 25 years to 20 years and present it before the Cabinet. Pawar has also directed all municipal corporations and councils to strictly implement the government resolution (GR) based on the Lad-Page Committee's recommendations. He said that non-compliance will attract action. The committee established in 1972 to address issues related to the employment of sanitation workers. Pawar stated that civic bodies should submit detailed reports on the number of sanitation workers working in their respective jurisdictions to the UDD.

Kuppam set to become fully solar-powered under new green energy push
Tirupati: As part of promoting green energy, the Andhra Pradesh government has completed a pilot solar power project in Nadimur village of Kuppam constituency, represented by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Following its success, plans are underway to expand the initiative across the entire constituency, covering households, agricultural connections, and government buildings. The pilot, launched on January 6, 2025, was implemented under the Central government's PM Surya Ghar – Muft Bijli Yojana scheme in collaboration with APSPDCL and Kuppam RESCO. As part of the project, rooftop solar panels were installed on 100 houses in Nadimuru. Officials estimate that the village is now generating around 15,000 units of electricity, with excess power being fed back into the grid through bi-directional meters. Building on this model, authorities are now extending the solar service to 7,489 identified SC/ST connections across the constituency, for which tenders have already been invited. These beneficiaries will receive connections free of cost. In addition, solarisation of 34,000 agricultural service connections falling under 126 rural feeders is also in progress. The initiative also covers around 43,000 service connections belonging to BC, OBC, and OC categories. The government has announced subsidies of Rs 30,000 for 1 KW systems, Rs 60,000 for 2 KW, and RS 78,000 for 3 KW rooftop solar panels. For the remaining cost, financial assistance will be provided through the Velugu project and bank loans. For instance, the consumer contribution of Rs 40,000 for a 1 KW system can be split into Rs 20,000 from a bank loan and Rs 20,000 from women's self-help group loans. The system uses two-way meters to measure both consumption and excess generation. Any unused power is transferred back to the RESCO, and the consumer receives billing credits accordingly. A 1 KW system is expected to generate about 120 units of electricity per month, which could reduce a typical electricity bill from RS 1,000 to Rs 338, resulting in annual savings of approximately Rs 8,000. To facilitate the expansion, the government has begun collecting consent forms from households in all four mandals of Kuppam. Each mandal is targeting 600 homes in the initial phase. The consent process is being supported by 5,661 women self-help groups under the Velugu programme, involving over 56,000 members. Village Organisation leaders and community coordinators are creating awareness and encouraging residents to adopt solar power. Officials noted that while the high upfront cost of rooftop systems has made some households hesitant, the combination of subsidies and financing options is expected to improve participation. The project aims to reduce dependence on conventional energy sources while offering long-term savings for residents. Authorities said they are working to implement the Chief Minister's vision of making Kuppam a fully solar-powered constituency.
