Amarnath Yatra: BSF enhances security grid along Indo-Pak International Border
Abdullian (R S Pura), June 28 (UNI) As Shri Amarnath Yatra is all set to start from July 2 with flagging off of first batch from Yatri Niwas Jammu, the Border Security Force has heightened the security grid all along the Indo-Pak International Border falling under Jammu Frontier. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will flag off first batch of Shri Amarnath pilgrims from Bhagwati Nagar based Yatri Niwas in Jammu on July 2. BSF officials said that after the Pahalgam terrorist attack, unprecedented security arrangements have been made along the border for this year's Amarnath Yatra. "The Border Security Force has increased patrolling all along the International Border in Jammu Frontier," they added. "Few days are left for the start of yatra and BSF has made elaborate arrangements with additional troops of BSF including women personnel and the border has also been kept under surveillance," they said. "Our troops are patrolling round the clock and keeping close watch on every movement along the border," they said. Besides hi-tech gadgets, drones are also maintaining surveillance on border besides any unwanted and suspicious movement, they stated. Inspector General BSF Jammu Frontier, Shashank Anand in his maiden press conference on May 27 here at Jammu Frontier had said that BSF is vigilant and maintaining high alertness along the border. Enemy may strike again with fresh infiltration attempts and cross-border firing but the troops are on high alert and maintaining vigil all along the International Border and the Line of Control alongwith the Indian Army and other security agencies, IG BSF had said. 'BSF is 24x7 completely alert on the international border. Our endeavour is that in the coming times, especially when the Amarnath Yatra is going to start, all security related arrangements should be in place and there will be no lowering of guards on the border,' IG Anand had said. Meanwhile Union Home Minister Amit Shah on May 30 during his visit to Poonch district had said that the government is committed to support and empower security forces in their mission to safeguard national borders. "Government is committed in supporting and empowering the security forces in their mission to safeguard national borders," Shah reiterated while interacting with BSF troops. He highlighted the significant impact of destroying more than 118 Pakistani posts and surveillance equipment in just three days actions that left Pakistan struggling to gather intelligence for an extended period. Pakistan shelling hits JK border village, damages homes and gurudwara wall
Jammu and Kashmir [India], May 9 (ANI): Several houses and vehicles were damaged in a border village in Jammu and Kashmir following unprovoked firing by Pakistan using mortars and heavy calibre artillery. The boundary wall of a Gurdwara in the area was also partially damaged due to the shelling that took place late last night. Speaking to ANI, a local resident said, 'At around 1 am, there was a lot of shelling here. There was no damage to the Gurduwara Sahib and the medical dispensary here.' Officials are assessing the extent of damage. Further details are awaited. Pakistan Army resorted to firing on Thursday night across the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri, Kupwara, Tangdhar, and Karnah sectors of Jammu and Kashmir, violating the ceasefire. Pakistan fired eight missiles directed at Satwari, Samba, RS Pura and Arnia, and all were intercepted and blocked by air defence units, defence sources said. The sources said visuals over Jammu remind one of a Hamas-style attack on Israel, using multiple cheap rockets to traget cities. Pakistani drones were intercepted by Indian air defence in Jaisalmer. Explosions were heard, and flashes were seen in the sky. A complete blackout has been enforced in Bikaner, Rajasthan, and Jalandhar, Punjab. Blackouts have also been enforced in Kishtwar, Akhnoor, Samba, Jammu, and Amritsar, Jalandhar. India had responded to the Pahalgam terror attack through Operation Sindoor, in which terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pok was targeted through precision strikes. India also said that any attack on military installations will invite a suitable response. On Thursday, the Indian Armed Forces targeted Air Defence Radars and systems at a number of locations in Pakistan. The Indian response has been in the same domain with the same intensity as Pakistan's. It has been reliably learnt that an Air Defence system at Lahore has been neutralised. (ANI)

500 Pak drones targeted 24 cities in J&K, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat: Army sources
On the night of May 8, between 8.00 pm and 11.30 pm, Pakistan launched simultaneous drone attacks across several cities in India, Army sources said. Pakistan deployed around 500 small drones targeting 24 cities across Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat, sources Indian Army and Air Force successfully thwarted Pakistan's drone strike using an array of anti-missile systems, including the L70, ZU-23, Schilka, and motive behind sending mostly unarmed drones may have been to spread panic among civilians or an attempt to gather intelligence on Indian military installations, sources added. Islamabad escalated tension after India targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in the early hours of May 7. India emphasised that the mission- codenamed Operation Sindoor- was aimed at terrorists and avoided Pakistan military targets. Pakistan, however, retaliated on May 8 by attempting to target several locations in India, including military sites in Jammu and air defence system intercepted the aerial barrage and neutralised it, preventing damage to any vital installation or any casualties. Apart from swarm of drones, Pakistan also deployed missiles, which were promptly intercepted and blocked by India's air defence units."Eight missiles from Pakistan were directed at Satwari, Samba, R S Pura and Arnia. Bharat Dynamics, HAL, GRSE spike up to 5% amid Indo-Pak border tensions
Defence stocks: Defence-related stocks gained up to 4.8 per cent in trade on Friday, May 9, 2025, amid escalating border tension between India and Pakistan. On Thursday, Pakistan fired eight missiles directed at Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia, all in Jammu & Kashmir, which were all intercepted or neutralised by air defence units, according to reports. At 10:20 AM, individually, shares of Bharat Dynamics were up 3.31 per cent, Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) were up 2.34 per cent, Paras Defence and Space Technologies were up 2.08 per cent, Bharat Electronics were up 3.41 per cent, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders were up 1.56 per cent, Astra Microwave Products were up 3.21 per cent, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers were up 2.2 per cent, and Cochin Shipyard were up 0.12 per cent. Analysts believe 'Operation Sindoor' is likely to put the focus on the pace of execution in the defence companies. "Defence companies already have large order books which will get even larger," said Dr. Vikas Gupta, CEO & chief investment strategist, OmniScience Capital. He added: These companies are likely to be given aggressive execution targets which are likely to start becoming visible in a few quarters and a 1-3 years timeline, thus possibly boosting revenues and earnings forecast. However one should be careful to invest only at attractive valuations and in those which pass the scientific investing criteria'.
