DGP pats AP police for successfully conducting Hackathon
Vijayawada: The three-day AI4 Andhra Police Hackathon, a national-level programme held from June 27 to 29 concluded on Sunday at RVR & JC College of Engineering in Guntur. The Hackathon was inaugurated by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Friday and organised by the AP police in collaboration with knowledge partner 4SightsAI. Over 60 teams including IT companies, startups and academic institutions from India and abroad have participated in the event and showcased AI expertise. DGP Harish Kumar Gupta has distributed cash prize of Rs 10 lakh to the winners and congratulated for participation and achieving success. The DGP participating in the closing ceremony on Sunday congratulated the police official ands technical experts who made this event a grand success. He said the Hackathon is a start of long journery for AP police. He said Dr. Kolla Srinivas, and team transformed their campus overnight—new elevator, cutting-edge hackathon arena, and boundless hospitality. He further said the Tech-savvy officers like Raj Kumari, Fakkirappa, Malika Garg, Vakul, Tushar, and Kishore curated and refined eight deployable challenges and also all the members of Event management team. Harish Kumar Gupta also praised the local police stating that ther frontline officers and the newly formed Prism unit ensured uninterrupted support. He said every participant was a winner and felt India's enterprises have yet to embrace GenAI and Agentic AI at production scale; many may not even know these terms. He said the AP police has taken the uphill task and proved what is possible by successfully organising the Hackathon in Guntur.

Andhra Pradesh will become torchbearer for AI-led law enforcement: DGP Harish Kumar Gupta
Vijayawada: The national-level 'AI Hackathon' organised by the Andhra Pradesh Police department at RVR & JC College of Engineering in Guntur concluded on Sunday. Speaking at the event's conclusion ceremony, director general of police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta said that Andhra Pradesh Police made history with eCOPS, laying the foundation for the national CCTNS standard. He also highlighted that FINS (Fingerprint Identification System) scaled up to NAFIS (National Automated Fingerprint Identification System) at the national level. He mentioned that the AP Police stand at the threshold of a new dawn—the AI-Powered Police Operating System. To seize this moment, he said, our next steps must be appealed to police personnel to secure dedicated GPU clusters through India AI to power large-scale model training and real-time inference, and to assemble comprehensive master data sets that capture every operational nuance—this being the backbone of trustworthy AI. He also stressed the need to establish rigorous best practices and legal-grade guidelines for LLM usage—ensuring data integrity, chain-of-custody, and evidentiary security. To scale intelligence, he urged deploying open 70B-parameter models, fine-tuned on police data and governance protocols, to drive domain-specific insights. He proposed creating a sandbox: launching a secure application and access layer where these models can be tested, hardened, and deployed swiftly. By doing so, we will turbo-charge our use-case rollout—targeting four "low-hanging" solutions by year-end—and cement Andhra Pradesh as the first state police force with production-ready AI tools, becoming a true torchbearer for AI-led law enforcement in India and beyond, the DGP added.

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is set to inaugurate the event at RVR & JC College of Engineering in Guntur on Friday. 'This hackathon aligns with the Chief Minister's vision to integrate cutting-edge technology into governance,' Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta affirmed, noting Naidu's pioneering efforts in transforming Cyberabad into a global tech hub. To be organised in collaboration with knowledge partner 4SightsAI, the event challenges participants to develop AI-driven tools to solve eight real-world policing problems curated by senior IPS officers. The solutions are expected to be scalable and practical, contributing to better law enforcement and public administration. Over 60 teams, including participants from startups, IT companies, and academic institutions from across India and abroad, have registered for the event. There is no entry fee, and accommodation will be provided. Top-performing teams will compete for a `10 lakh cash prize pool and receive certificates.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will launch the event at 3 pm on Friday. The event is being conducted in collaboration with knowledge partner 4SightsAI, with an aims of fostering innovation by challenging participants to address eight real-world policing problem statements curated by senior IPS officers. Over 60 teams from across India, including IT companies, startups, and academic institutions from India and abroad, have registered to participate. The hackathon has no entry fee, with accommodation provided to participants. Top-performing teams will compete for a Rs 10 lakh cash prize pool and receive certificates from the Andhra Pradesh police. An expert panel of IPS officers, IT professionals, and academic researchers will evaluate solutions. DGP Harish Kumar Gupta said the hackathon is a strategic platform to develop scientific and practical AI solutions, reflecting Chief Minister's vision for technology-driven governance.

AI Hackathon from June 27 in Guntur
Vijayawada: The State police department is set to organise the prestigious 'AI Hackathon' at national level from June 27 to 29 at RVR & JC College of Engineering in Guntur. On this occasion, DGP Harish Kumar Gupta announced that Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu will inaugurate the AI Hackathon. He stated that the primary objective of this event is to explore Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based solutions for policing and public service. The hackathon aligns with the Chief Minister's vision to incorporate modern technology into governance. DGP Gupta emphasised that the hackathon would serve as a strategic platform to develop scientific and practical AI solutions. He stated that eight problem statements have been curated by senior IPS officers in collaboration with their knowledge partner, 4SightsAI, which has played a key role in designing and conceptualizing the program. This AI hackathon will provide multiple solutions for these eight problem statements. We're taking it forward; we will be launching pilot projects in the districts and then rolling them out on a larger scale in the state so that the working becomes efficient and service delivery is more consistent and transparent. So, that was the basic idea of this AI hackathon. The hackathon is also a platform, and this is not a one-off event. It will be a collaborative process on a continuous basis with the industry. Participation in the AI Hackathon is completely free, with no entry fee. The top-performing teams will receive certificates and a total cash prize of ₹10 lakhs. An awards selection committee comprising senior IPS officers, IT experts, and academic researchers will evaluate the solutions. Selected teams will be provided with free accommodation during the event. The AP police department has extended invitations to domestic and international IT companies, reputed educational institutions, and startups. So far, around 30 teams have registered to participate. Many premier organizations have also informed us of their participation. Hopefully, it will give better input to the department and move policing forward. Each company is expected to send teams of three to four members to develop AI-based solutions. DGP Gupta also highlighted the broader use of technology in policing, noting that drones are being extensively used for routine patrols and enforcement in cities like Vijayawada. CCTV camera coverage has significantly increased across the state. The DGP concluded by stating that this AI Hackathon would be a milestone in leveraging AI capabilities for public services and urged innovative AI teams, IT firms, and startups to participate and contribute to the success of this groundbreaking initiative.
