Lucknow: Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) has given approval for the establishment of a Section 8 Company by the university, with the objective of promoting entrepreneurship, innovation and incubation. This company will encourage students to pursue entrepreneurial ventures and assist in transforming their innovations into viable commercial outcomes. In line with the National Education Policy 2020, the formation of a 'Skill enhancing hobby club' was also announced, which will be managed by students. "A Section 8 company is defined as a company that is formed with the objective of promoting philanthropic objectives, such as commerce, arts, science, sports, education, research, social welfare, religion, charity or environmental protection. It has been approved to promote entrepreneurship," said BBAU spokesperson Rachna Gangwar. She also said the university will be offering a DSc degree, which is a higher doctorate typically awarded for significant and original contributions to a specific field of science, often after a substantial body of published work. It will offer a DLit degree, which is an advanced academic degree, often considered a higher doctorate, awarded for significant scholarly contributions to the field of literature and related disciplines. Both degrees will further strengthen the university's research and academic repute.

Lucknow: The enthusiasm displayed by the teachers and staff of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) during the cycling event transformed the university campus into a vibrant hub of fitness activities on Sunday. "The cycling campaign highlighted the importance of sustainable transportation and its role in reducing air pollution. Participants were briefed about proper cycling techniques, safety measures and benefits of making cycling a regular part of their routine," said BBAU spokesperson Prof Rachna Gangwar. She said the event also featured informative sessions about maintaining bicycles and choosing appropriate cycling gear. This initiative is part of the nationwide 'Fit India Sundays on Cycle' movement launched by the ministry of youth affairs and sports, aiming to promote regular cycling as a mean to adopt a healthier lifestyle and raise environmental awareness. The programme concluded with a commitment from Vice-Chancellor Prof RK Mittal and the university community to embrace cycling not just as a Sunday activity but as a regular mode of transport.
