Man dies after Southwest Baltimore shooting, police say
The Baltimore Police Department upgraded an Edmondson Village shooting investigation to a homicide Monday after the victim died in a local hospital. Officers responded at about 3:11 p.m. Monday to the 4100 block of Woodridge Road in Southwest Baltimore, where they found a vehicle crashed into the rear of a house that was on fire, police said in a news release. The victim, a 41-year-old man, was close to the vehicle and had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. Though he was taken to a hospital, the man later died, police say. Motorcyclist dead after I-695 crash near Perring Parkway, state police say
A motorcyclist died after a crash involving another vehicle on the inner loop of Interstate 695 on Sunday that at one point closed all lanes of traffic. The crash was reported at Exit 30B for MD-41 Perring Parkway. Though the State Highway Administration initially advised the public to use an alternate route because all lanes were closed, one lane has reopened as of 10:27 p.m. Sunday. The crash was reported at about 9:05 p.m., according to the Maryland State Police's Golden Ring Barrack duty officer. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the second vehicle involved in the crash was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he said. Have a news tip? Under Armour highlights Maryland HBCUs in new sneaker launch
A new social media campaign from Under Armour highlights Greek life at two of Maryland's historically Black universities. For a launch of Under Armour's newest lifestyle sneaker, the UA Echo, Baltimore-based photographer Devin Allen shot the 'Sisterhood in Style' campaign on Bowie and Morgan state university campuses, according to a Monday news release from Under Armour. 'The campaign spotlights collegiate women from the nation's first Black Greek-letter sorority for college women, styled in bold, expressive looks that reflect both tradition and individuality,' it says. 'More than a product spotlight, Sisterhood in Style reflects UA's broader commitment to innovation and community, empowering the next generation to show up boldly, break boundaries, and define their own style codes,' the news release says. The UA Echo sneaker, now in a pink and green colorway, is on sale online for $150. This isn't Under Armour's only collaboration with local schools. The company donated to the athletic programs at Baltimore City College and Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in October when it created new merchandise for the high schools. Have a news tip? Baltimore weather: Rain and thunderstorms possible on St. Patrick's Day weekend
Foggy and cloudy conditions in Baltimore on Saturday will give way to rain and potential thunderstorms Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. Saturday will start with patchy drizzle and fog before 11 a.m. with a high near 54 and southeast wind of 5 to 9 mph. More fog is predicted for the evening between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy with a low around 54. [Get the latest weathercast from FOX45 News] There is a 90% chance of showers Sunday and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. The high will be 69 and windy, with gusts up to 23 mph. The scheduled St. Patrick's Day parade and Shamrock 5K race typically proceed rain or shine, but the parade's organizers are monitoring the weather for thunderstorms, it said on Facebook. Rain and another potential thunderstorm are forecast for the evening, with more patchy fog, 20 mph wind gusts, and a low of around 53. The beginning of the workweek is forecast to be rainy with a 30% chance of precipitation most likely before 2 p.m. and a high near 61 on Monday. Tuesday is expected to be sunny and warm with a high of 66. The sun will continue to shine throughout Wednesday with warmer conditions and a high near 71.
