Prabhas' New Look in Fauji Goes Viral, Fans Recall Darling and Mirchi Days

A new picture of actor Prabhas from his upcoming movie Fauji is getting a lot of attention online. The film is being helmed by Hanu Raghavapudi. Fans are happy to see their favourite star looking fresh and charming again. For a long time, Prabhas was trolled on social media for his looks, especially after Baahubali 2. Films like Radhe Shyam and Adipurush added to the criticism, which made his fans upset. Even though The Raja Saab looked promising, fans were still unsure about his appearance. For their roles in Baahubali, both actors Prabhas and Rana had put on weight for their roles. Recently, Prabhas spent his summer in Italy, working on his fitness. The latest picture from the Fauji set shows how much effort he has put into his health. Fans say this look reminds them of his earlier films like Darling and Mirchi. Prabhas is also working on many movies. His film with Maruthi will release soon. At the same time, he is shooting for Spirit with Sandeep Reddy Vanga, and Fauji.

Former media exec turns filmmaker with Naresh Agastya's romantic drama

What makes someone leave a steady, well-established career to start over in films? For Vipin Surya, who held senior roles in media and branding, including at a sports channel and an IPL franchise, it was a long-standing interest in storytelling that led him to filmmaking. 'For starters, I'm single! Had I been saddled with responsibilities, it might not have been so easy for me. But more importantly, this abiding love for cinema is due to my late father Sivananda Raja who had a profound impact on me. He was a director who made a couple of films and television serials. He was highly fond of literature and the arts, and I inherited this trait from him. Whatever I am in life today is entirely because of him,' shares Vipin, who is making his debut as a director with Meghalu Cheppina Prema Katha. Naresh Agastya and Rabiya Khatoon star as Varun and Meghana in the romantic drama, with music composed by Justin Prabhakaran , best known for his work in Radhe Shyam. Describing the story, Vipin says, 'I guess every person at some point in their lives dreams of going away to a beautiful, exotic location and meeting their soulmate. What possibly can come in the way of their union? What past baggage might prevent them from expressing their love for each other? This forms the premise of the movie.' - Sridhar Adivi

HT Explainer: Why are Haryana agri varsity students up in arms

Students at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar, have been protesting since June 10 following a violent clash with university staff. The protest has drawn widespread attention due to allegations of assault, administrative inaction, and political interference. HT's Staff Correspondent Sunil Rahar explains. --- Why the CCSHAU protest began The agitation started on June 10 when students were protesting outside vice-chancellor BR Kamboj's residence against recent changes to the university's stipend structure and the rollback of seat reservations for Land Donation Villages (LDV). Tensions escalated when security guards and university officials allegedly resorted to a lathi-charge, injuring at least 20 students. Among them, BSc (Agriculture) student Deepanshu Kadian sustained a head injury requiring six stitches, while final-year student Chakshu needed 30 stitches. --- What changes to the stipend policy triggered the unrest Until recently, MSc and PhD scholars were eligible for stipends if they scored above 70% or maintained a 7 OGPA. The new policy increased the eligibility threshold to 75% or 7.5 OGPA and limited stipends to just 25% of students. Students argue this new system is exclusionary and unfair, especially as it deviates from the norms of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). They are demanding a complete rollback and restoration of the previous eligibility criteria. --- What steps have the police and university taken so far Hisar police have booked eight university officials and staff, including registrar Pawan Kumar, assistant professor Radhe Shyam Manju, chief security officer Sukhbir Singh, and five guards. Charges under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita include rioting, criminal intimidation, and attempt to commit culpable homicide. Radhe Shyam, seen in a video chasing students with a stick, was arrested and sent to judicial custody for 14 days. The university, meanwhile, has formed a three-member committee to engage with students and has suspended Radhe Shyam along with four security guards allegedly involved in the alleged lathi charge. The administration has also agreed to reverse the recent changes in scholarship and LDV policies. --- Why students are continuing their protest despite these actions Students insist that the protest will continue until vice-chancellor Kamboj resigns, as they hold him responsible for allowing the violence to happen and for not addressing their concerns in person. They are also demanding the arrest of the remaining accused named in the FIR, termination of key officials, and protection from disciplinary action for those involved in the protest. Allegations have also emerged that police, including male personnel, were sent to girls' hostels to pressure students into appearing for exams—claims that have further angered the student community. --- What the response from political parties and the public has been The protest has drawn strong support from opposition parties including Congress, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), and the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP). Senior Congress leaders such as Deepender Hooda, Randeep Surjewala, and Kumari Selja have visited the protest site, while national president Mallikarjun Kharge has promised to raise the issue in Parliament. BJP MP Dharambir Singh has also condemned the lathi-charge and expressed support for the students' right to protest. Meanwhile, INLD's Abhay Chautala has accused the VC of holding fake degrees and being unfit to lead the university. Alumni have also raised concerns about corruption and nepotism under Kamboj's tenure.

SKN claims a Tollywood producer tried to sabotage Prabhas' The Raja Saab with ‘negative campaigns'

Producer Sreenivas Kumar Naidu, known popularly as SKN, made some big claims at the teaser launch of his friend, director Maruthi's upcoming film The Raja Saab. He alleged that a Tollywood producer tried to 'negatively campaign' against the Prabhas film, revealing what happened behind the scenes of the film's making. (Also Read: The Raja Saab teaser reactions: Fans welcome the return of 'vintage' Prabhas; call it 'Radhe Shyam made competent') SKN seemed in high spirits at the event for the teaser launch in Hyderabad, happy that his friend Maruthi was getting his due. He said, 'Much like how a wife knows her husband best, only a friend can know a best friend's potential. Maruthi and I have been friends for 20 years now. Listen to me today. Everybody who underestimated this film will change their mind. You'll see the 'rebel god' Prabhas, whom you've missed for a decade now.' He then dropped the bomb that a Tollywood producer tried to sabotage the film, crediting Prabhas for not falling for it. Without naming who did it, he said, 'I am well aware of how a producer tried to negatively campaign on this film when they began shooting. Now see how the same producer will talk positively about the film tomorrow. This film was only made possible because Prabhas gave his best without believing those campaigns.' Maruthi, whose last film, Pakka Commercial (2022), was a flop, also spoke about how the producer who was initially supposed to fund the project backed out. He claimed that he was ready to shelve the film, but was surprised and encouraged to make the film when Prabhas liked the story. 'I wondered why he was trusting me so much. I realised I need to move forward and that I hadn't come to Hyderabad to give it all up,' he said. Vishwa Prasad of People Media Factory produces The Raja Saab. Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, and Riddhi Kumar also star in the film. The teaser hints that the story takes place at a haveli with a greedy Raja haunting it. It will be released in theatres on 5 December in all south Indian languages and Hindi.
