Major hunt for fare dodgers who beat off-duty policewoman who confronted them

The British Transport Police have released CCTV images showing four men and two women they would like to speak to after a group attempted to barge through the barriers at Wood Green Underground Station on June 12 Police have launched an urgent hunt for a group of fare dodgers who violently attacked an off-duty officer after confronting them. The British Transport Police have released CCTV images showing four men and two women they would like to speak to after a group attempted to barge through the barriers at Wood Green Underground Station on June 12. ‌ An off-duty police officer confronted the group after seeing them try to dodge their fare. However, she was punched and kicked and had a drink thrown over her head, according to authorities. ‌ The British Transport Police said: "At around 4.20pm on Thursday 12 June the victim, an off duty police officer, challenged a group of people who attempted to barge through the barrier without tickets. "She was then set upon by the group who punched and kicked her and threw a drink over her head. "Officers would like to speak to the people pictured as they believe they could have information which could help their investigation." The attack comes after Transport for London announced in April it was going to clamp down on fare dodgers. ‌ Shadow Lord Chancellor and Shadow Secretary of State for Justice, Robert Jenrick, made headlines after footage of him challenging TFL commuters over fare evasion went viral. Meanwhile, three young men were rushed to hospital following a stabbing outside Willesden Green Underground Station last week. The incident happened near the Central Masjid of Brent. However, police have ruled out any direct connection to the mosque or any religious motivation behind the incident. A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Two 21-year-old men and a 20-year-old man were taken to hospital with stab injuries. We await an update on their condition." ‌ A 20-year-old woman who reported breathing difficulties declined medical treatment at the scene, the force added. Although no arrests have yet been made, the spokesperson continued: "There are no concerns about any impact to the wider community." A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 9.02pm today to reports of a stabbing on Walm Lane, NW2. We treated four people in total – two were taken to major trauma centres, one to another local hospital, and one declined further treatment." The road was cordoned off for several hours while forensic officers gathered evidence at the scene. Specialist CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear) responders were deployed but were later stood down after it was confirmed not to be a chemical incident.

Iraq: No radiation threat detected after strikes on Iran nuclear sites

Shafaq News – Baghdad Iraq's nuclear oversight authority on Tuesday dismissed fears of radiation following the recent US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites, reporting no trace of contamination across the region. Ahmed Khudair, spokesperson for the National Commission for Nuclear, Radiological, Chemical and Biological Control (I-NRC), told Shafaq News Agency that the Fordow facility—one of the reported targets—contains only partially enriched uranium. 'It does not pose a real danger if targeted,' he clarified, highlighting that the site's underground structure offers substantial protection against explosions and potential radioactive leaks. Khudair underscored that the commission launched immediate monitoring efforts at the onset of the crisis, contributing to scenario planning within Iraq's Central Operations Room for Radiation and Nuclear Emergencies. 'All measurements were accurate and fully aligned with global scientific standards,' he noted.

Iraq: No radiation risk after Israeli strikes on Iran

Shafaq News/ Iraq has detected no radioactive contamination following airstrikes on nuclear facilities in Iran, the country's nuclear regulator reported on Wednesday. The National Commission for Nuclear, Radiological, Chemical, and Biological Control, which oversees Iraq's radiological safety framework, confirmed that its early warning systems and emergency response teams were activated immediately and maintained continuous oversight. Commision head Fadel Hawi Mezban stated that radiation levels across Iraqi territory remained within normal limits and matched technical projections. Given Iraq's proximity to Iranian nuclear sites and prevailing wind patterns, Mezban noted that precautionary surveillance remained essential, with detection systems and contingency protocols still active. He emphasized Iraq's readiness to manage cross-border radiological risks and highlighted its role within the international nuclear safety framework. The announcement follows recent US strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities at Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz during its conflict with Israel. President Donald Trump described the operation as 'very successful' and declared, 'NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE.' A ceasefire was reached shortly after the strikes.
