FORM MEETS FRESHNESS

What makes the Rado Anatom so compelling? It begins with the design. When first unveiled in 1983, the Anatom was boldly ahead of its time, yet true to Rado's signature aesthetic. Four decades on, its modern reinterpretation brings a fresh, contemporary edge that has captivated audiences worldwide. One glance is enough to understand why – like the original, these models stand out instantly, even in a crowd. The Anatom's iconic appeal goes far beyond its looks. Now, in perfect harmony with the spirit of summer, Rado unveils three vibrant new editions of this celebrated timepiece. The Rado Anatom in lemon yellow. As with every Rado Anatom, these new models offer exceptional comfort – their ergonomic design sits effortlessly on the wrist. The flowing contours not only enhance wearability but also give the Anatom its unmistakable visual identity. True to Rado's ethos, design goes hand in hand with advanced materials. The case is crafted from the brand's latest high-tech ceramic, paired with an edge-to-edge sapphire crystal that mirrors the anatomical lines behind the watch's name. This season, the Anatom arrives in vivid, summery shades – lemon yellow, grapefruit red and lime green – inspired by these favourite fruits and designed to lift the mood year-round. The Rado Anatom in grapefruit red. Each new Rado Anatom features a polished black high-tech ceramic bezel and a cylindrical sapphire crystal with bevelled edges – metallised in black and anti-reflective on the inside. The case middle is made of sandblasted black PVD coated stainless steel. The stainless steel case back is fitted with a sapphire crystal. Inside beats the Rado calibre R766 – a mechanical movement with a Nivachron antimagnetic hairspring, adjusted in five positions and offering a 72-hour power reserve. The iconic moving anchor appears below 12 o'clock, with a date window at 6 o'clock and rhodium-coloured hands coated in white Super-Lumi-Nova. Water resistance is rated at 5 bar (50 metres). The lemon-yellow model dazzles with a black-to-yellow gradient dial and a matching fluorine rubber (FKM) strap – a burst of sunlight, whether at work or by the sea. The lime-green version evokes summer foliage and fresh optimism – with a black-to-lime gradient dial and coordinating strap, it's made to stand out. The lime-green model evokes fresh optimism. There's a simple joy in a summer breakfast under the sun – especially the moment a grapefruit is sliced open to reveal its vivid red interior. That striking hue inspires the Anatom with a black-to-grapefruit red gradient dial and a perfectly matched rubber strap. Each strap – in yellow, green or red – is flexible, odourless and highly resistant to wear, UV rays, and harsh chemicals. Paired with a high-tech ceramic bezel and sapphire crystal, the result is a watch that's as resilient as it is refined. These colourful new Anatom models showcase Rado's mastery of materials and its ergonomic design expertise – bright, modern and made to captivate a new generation. Rado Boutiques are located at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Suria KLCC, The Exchange TRX, IOI City Mall, Gurney Plaza, Suria Sabah and KB Mall.

Watch review: Rado's new Anatom is just in time for summer

When you think of Rado‭, ‬you don't just think of watches‭; ‬you think of a brand that reimagined what a watch could be made of‭. ‬Decades ago‭, ‬while most of the industry obsessed over shapes and complications‭, ‬Rado practised the alchemy of materials‭. ‬After pioneering ceramic on the wrist‭, ‬the‭ ‬brand pushed boundaries again‭, ‬mastering sapphire crystal‭, ‬perfecting high-tech ceramic‭, ‬and creating plasma-treated ceramic‭, ‬a‭ ‬breakthrough that gave ceramic the lustre of metal without compromising its lightweight‭, ‬scratch-resistant properties‭. ‬With these innovations‭, ‬Rado wasn't just building watches‭; ‬it was shaping the future of how time should feel on the wrist‭.‬ The Anatom is one of the most significant chapters in that story‭. ‬First launched in 1983‭, ‬it was revolutionary in its design‭ ‬—‭ ‬bold‭, ‬ergonomic‭, ‬and unapologetically different‭. ‬Its curved form followed the wrist's natural line‭, ‬promising comfort that felt almost personal‭. ‬Now‭, ‬Rado brings that same spirit back‭, ‬dressed in bright‭, ‬lively colours for a new season‭.‬ This summer‭, ‬the Anatom returns in three vibrant new versions‭, ‬each hue capturing a fragment of the season‭. ‬The lemon-yellow model radiates like midday sun‭, ‬its black-to-yellow gradient dial glowing with warmth and energy‭. ‬Paired with a matching rubber strap‭, ‬it's a shot of summer that feels at home from beach to boardroom‭. ‬The lime-green version channels the freshness of sunlit grass and‭ ‬new leaves‭, ‬its dial and strap alive with a spirit that's subtle‭, ‬spirited‭, ‬and uplifting‭. ‬And then there's the grapefruit red‭ ‬—‭ ‬bold and juicy‭, ‬like the first slice of fruit on a summer morning‭. ‬Its rich dial and matching strap strike the perfect balance‭ ‬between playfulness and drama‭.‬ At a glance‭, ‬they're unmistakably Anatom‭, ‬with those smooth‭, ‬flowing lines and sharp geometry that stand out across a room‭. ‬But up close‭, ‬there's a depth to them that comes from Rado's mastery of materials‭. ‬The case is sculpted from the brand's newest high-tech ceramic‭, ‬making it sleek‭, ‬strong‭, ‬and surprisingly light‭. ‬A polished black ceramic bezel frames the curved sapphire crystal‭, ‬bevelled and treated to reduce glare‭, ‬yet blending seamlessly into the design with a fluid‭, ‬almost liquid grace‭.‬ Inside‭, ‬the R766‭ ‬automatic movement ticks with the calm assurance of something finely tuned‭. ‬Its antimagnetic Nivachron hairspring keeps it steady through daily wear‭. ‬With 72‭ ‬hours of power reserve and fine adjustments in five positions‭, ‬it's the kind‭ ‬of mechanical workhorse you can trust to be refined enough to admire through the sapphire crystal caseback‭, ‬yet reliable enough‭ ‬to disappear into daily use‭.‬ Each dial fades from black at the edges to a vivid centre hue‭, ‬drawing the eye inward‭. ‬The effect is dramatic‭, ‬especially when paired with rhodium-coated hands that glow softly with Super-LumiNova‭. ‬A date window at six o'clock sits discreetly‭, ‬never breaking the balance‭.‬ All about character Then there's the strap‭, ‬made from durable fluorine rubber and designed to hug the wrist with a flexibility that quickly becomes second nature‭. ‬And yet‭, ‬whether in yellow‭, ‬green‭, ‬or red‭, ‬it holds its own with bold‭, ‬unmistakable character‭.‬ Rado's legacy of material innovation is undisputed‭, ‬but with the new Anatom models‭, ‬that expertise is channelled into something more‭ ‬immediate‭ ‬—‭ ‬watches that feel as good as they look‭, ‬with comfort‭, ‬colour‭, ‬and craftsmanship coming together‭. ‬More than just seasonal designs‭, ‬these new versions are reminders that a watch can still resonate beyond function‭. ‬ The Anatom is made to stay with you‭ ‬–‭ ‬versatile‭, ‬expressive‭, ‬and ready to go wherever the season takes you‭.‬

While it may be best known for its remarkable collection of dive watches, Swiss producer Rado is no less formidable on land. The maison's dedication to precision and performance has resulted in a decades-long partnership with the sport of tennis, complete with big-name ambassadors (including Aussie legend Ash Barty) and a number of special releases. To celebrate 40 years of this thriving connection, the watchmaker has unveiled a brand-new Captain Cook x Tennis that is limited to just 1,985 pieces and adorned with powerful mechanics and pointed details. Rado Captain Cook X Tennis Limited Edition | Image: Rado The limited supply of 1,985 pieces was not chosen at random, as Rado's first tennis partnership kicked off in 1985. These two entities have been connected at the proverbial hip ever since, yielding a string of limited-edition timepieces throughout the years. Previous editions include 2004's Sintra Australia Open, 2019's Hyperchrome Ash Barty, and 2023's Captain Cook Cameron Norrie, to name just a few. Every release up to the latest one commemorates a rich history of partnerships between the watchmaker and tennis, and also the many more partnerships to come. The Captain Cook Rado x Tennis Limited Edition keeps the party going with a brilliant fusion of temperaments and details. It's conspicuously modern in terms of design and construction but still tethered to the long and rich heritage of the sports watch collection. Features include a 39mm stainless steel case with a matching crown and bracelet, though wearers have the option to swap in a NATO strap in either orange, blue, or green. It runs on Rado Calibre R763 Automatic movement with 80-hour power reserve and delivers a dive-worthy water-resistance of up to 300 metres. Rado Captain Cook X Tennis Limited Edition | Image: Rado We love it when a commemorative watch eschews overt gimmickry in favour of subtle detail, and that's exactly what Rado does with its latest limited edition model. Peer upon the ruthenium-to-white gradient dial to behold tennis ball-style dots around the perimeter, along with a similarly inspired hue on the tip of the second hand. The tennis motif becomes more apparent on the caseback, which features a special engraving and a tri-part embossment of three tennis courts (grass, clay, and hard). Flip the piece back over, turn off the lights, and Super-Luminova will bring various details to life on the minimalist display. There's also a laser-enhanced anchor just below the 12 o'clock marker and a compact date window at 3 o'clock. It all ties together quite handsomely while retaining the essence of a timeless sports watch. Get one for AUD$4,700 and celebrate 40 years of precision and performance across the worlds of tennis and horology alike. Scrap dealer abducted, kidnappers demand Rs20m ransom

A 70-year-old scrap dealer, Moeenuddin, from Landhi was reportedly kidnapped, with his abductors demanding a ransom of Rs20 million, two Rado watches, and two iPhones, within two days. On June 21, Moeenuddin asked his younger son, Zeeshan, to drop him off at Landhi Railway Station so he could head to Sadiqabad to purchase scrap. Zeeshan dropped him close to the railway tracks, at around 6:10am. The next morning, Moeenuddin's son Ghayasuddin attempted to contact his father on both of his numbers, but found them switched off. Concerned, he continued trying to reach their father, to no avail. Then, on June 23 at 1:45pm, both brothers received a message from their father which stated that he had been kidnapped and was being held at an unknown location. The abductors threatened to kill Moeenuddin if their demands were not met. Shortly after, the brothers received a video showing their father stripped naked and being physically abused. A case was registered against unknown men, at Quaidabad police station.
