BJP MP terms Cong's SIT, KLIP probes as hogwash
Hyderabad: Medak MP Raghunandan Rao has stated that the Congress-led state government is more focused on gaining media attention than on addressing the real issues facing Telangana. Speaking to the media on Friday, he heavily criticised the government for what he termed 'inadequate investigations' into the phone tapping scandal and the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) controversies. He pointed out that the government claims a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to look into a matter that has been ongoing for 18 months, raising concerns that the probe is merely a way to settle scores between the Congress and the BRS. He criticised the SIT for its 'lack of sincerity' and alleged that the government lacks the determination to arrest those who have committed wrongdoings. Raghunandan Rao revealed that phone tapping began during the by-election in Dubbak in 2020. He claimed he filed ten complaints with the then DGP, asserting that the police were listening to his phone calls, but no action was taken. He now alleges that the SIT is sending notices through social media, targeting individuals working at Gandhi Bhavan, who then provide statements suggesting everyone involved is being investigated. He expressed disbelief that his previous letters of complaint have seemingly not reached the SIT. The MP questioned why, despite officials acknowledging the phone tapping, the prime accused, Prabhakar Rao, has not yet been remanded. He asserted that 'the investigation remains incomplete, and they seem to be stalling under the pretence of an ongoing inquiry.' He asked, 'Are the Congress leaders honest?' and claimed that 'unrelated Congress leaders are being called in' to the probe. Expressing doubts about the outcomes of the probe, he stated that the results might ultimately be described as 'Gadida Guddu' , a Telugu idiom for something worthless. He challenged the SIT's sincerity, claiming they are ignoring his case and focusing on the PCC President instead. He further added, 'I have information about who tapped our phones during the Dubbak by-election and when it happened. I am ready to disclose this, but the SIT lacks the courage to reach out. They are politicising this case as they see fit.' The BJP leader also alleged that the Congress government was not committed to bringing to justice those involved in the KLIP corruption case. He charged that the government has allocated 'Indiramma houses' to party members, citing a recent case where a young man committed suicide after being denied land in the Mallannasagar colony. He questioned if this was proper governance, given the government's lack of response to such a tragic incident. Finally, Raghunandan Rao lashed out at the State government for failing to conduct local body elections while blaming the Centre on BC reservations. He said the BJP-led NDA government does not support religion-based reservations, which he claimed is unconstitutional. He suggested that if the Congress removes the 10 per cent of religious-based reservations from its BC reservations bill, the Centre would consider it for a way forward.

Govt. lacks guts to arrest those responsible for phone tapping: BJP
The Congress government lacks guts to arrest those guilty in the sensational phone tapping during the BRS regime and there are doubts about the functioning of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing into it, said BJP Medak MP M. Raghunandan Rao on Friday. Talking to the media at the State party office, he questioned the delay in taking into remand those responsible for the phone tapping and charged the SIT of ignoring the real victims like him and calling those unconnected like PCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud. The MP claimed that he had complained to the then DGP in 2020 itself during the Dubbak bypoll about the illegal phone tapping and had even given a written complaint but he was not called for any deposition till date. The BJP leader's contention was that the ruling party is making it look like a 'Congress v/s BJP' in the episode instead of trying to get to the bottom of the surveillance of who all were targeted and why by the KCR government. It has been 18 months since the government initiated probes into phone tapping as well as Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme but there appears be no intent in taking any decisive action by targeting those responsible. The Congress and BRS appear to be having an 'understanding' with the government showing no commitment to take probes to a logical conclusion, he charged. The MP also took objection to the changing of 'Annapoorna' canteens to 'Indiramma' canteens and said the government has only been focusing on changing names instead of implementing the promised six guarantees during the elections to various sections of the people. He demanded details of how many people have benefited from the 'Indiramma' housing scheme and also farmers under the 'Rythu Bharosa' scheme.

BRS MLC Kavitha calls for statewide 'Rail Roko' on July 17 over BC Reservation bills
Medak (Telangana) [India], June 17 (ANI): Telangana Jagruthi President and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha on Tuesday announced a statewide Rail Roko agitation to be held on July 17 in demand of the Central government approving the Backward Classes (BCs) reservation bills passed by the Telangana Legislative Assembly, a PRO statement said. Addressing a round table meeting organised jointly by Telangana Jagruthi and the United Phule Front in Medak, MLC Kavitha said the protest will demonstrate the political strength and unity of the BC communities in Telangana. 'This Rail Roko will not just be a protest but a declaration of Telangana BCs' strength to the rulers in Delhi. We will take all BC organisations and leaders together in this protest,' she said, warning the Centre of growing unrest over the delay in approving the bills that seek 42 per cent reservations for BCs in local bodies, education, and government employment, as per the PRO. Kavitha strongly criticised both the Congress-led state government and the BJP-led Central government for what she described as deliberate inaction and apathy regarding the implementation of the reservation policy. She accused the Congress government in Telangana of attempting to go ahead with local body elections without implementing the 42 per cent BC reservations. 'We will not allow elections without these reservations. The Congress government has merely sent the bills to the Centre and washed its hands of the responsibility,' she said, questioning why the state government is not intensifying its efforts to ensure the President's approval. MLC Kavitha also raised the issue of lack of political representation for several BC communities and reiterated the need for a sub-quota for BC women within the broader women's reservation. Targeting Medak BJP MP Raghunandan Rao, Kavitha asked why he had remained silent on the issue. 'Why has Raghunandan Rao remained silent on the issue? Everyone should question him and the BJP-led central government on why the BC reservation bills are not being approved,' she said. Earlier in March, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking an appointment to discuss two bills passed by the Telangana Legislative Assembly that proposed 42 per cent reservation for backwards classes in education, jobs, and local bodies. He also suggested a meeting with leaders from various political parties in Telangana, including Congress, BRS, BJP, AIMIM, and CPI, to seek the central government's support for these bills. (ANI)
