Trinity Summer Series 2025: Simple Minds, Weezer, Rag'n'Bone Man, Amble and Marti Pellow
The Trinity Summer Series is in full swing this week with a string of gigs taking over the college. Thousands of people will descend on the Trinity College campus to attend the run of gigs, which has been in place since 2017. Read on to prepare yourself for the events. Who is playing? Tuesday, July 1st: Simple Minds with support from KT Tunstall Wednesday, July 2nd: Weezer with support from Teen Mortgage Thursday, July 3rd: Rag'n'Bone Man with support from Simple Things Saturday, July 5th: Amble with support from David Keenan Sunday, July 6th: Marti Pellow with support from Wallis Bird What time should I arrive? Gates open at 7pm, with the show starting at 7.30pm. Organisers aim to avoid queues outside the venue, so attendees should arrive 30 minutes before the show starts. Remember to give yourself an extra two hours of travel time, as delays around traffic and entry are inevitable. How do I get to and from the gig? Trinity College Dublin is located at College Green, in the middle of the city. You can enter the campus at the Lincoln Place, on Nassau Street/Westland Row; or via the Science Gallery gate, on Westland Row/Pearse Street. READ MORE As traffic is guaranteed, you are advised to walk, cycle or use public transport to get to the venue. Fortunately, the campus is highly accessible given its location. Travel by bus: Dublin Bus offer a wide range of routes that service TCD. The 11, 37, 38 (A/D), 39(A) and 70 buses all stop at Nassau Street, which is a five-minute walk from the entrance. You can plan your journey with Transport for Ireland here . Travel by Dart: The nearest Dart station to TCD is Pearse Street, which is just over a 10-minute walk from the site entrance. The latest trains should be leaving Pearse Street around 11.30pm on the night. Travel by Luas: The Luas green line stops at Dawson Street both northbound and southbound, which is only a five-minute walk from the TCD entry. The northbound Luas also stops at Trinity directly. Travel by car: There is no public parking in place for the Trinity Summer Series, and organisers advise attendees not to park illegally or in residential areas. If you must drive to the gig, utilise one of the city centre car parks and look to book a space in advance. Are there any tickets left? Tickets for the full list of concerts are available to purchase on Ticketmaster here . Several gigs are already sold out, but it is worth checking the site for resale tickets in case you get lucky. There is a box office at the concert entrance. Remember to download your tickets to your phone as there may be internet or connectivity issues at the venue, and with Ticketmaster's live barcodes, screenshots may not work on the day. What is security like? The events are strictly over-18s. Bring an official form of identification with you: a passport, Garda age card or driver's licence. Security checks will be in operation, and everyone will be subject to a search. You are advised not to bring large bags/backpacks, as you may experience delays or be refused entry. Flag poles, glass or cans, umbrellas, alcohol, e-scooters/e-bikes, flares, professional cameras and audio recording equipment will not be permitted. What does the weather look like? According to Met Éireann, isolated patches of drizzle and mist will slowly brighten up on Tuesday afternoon as sunny spells develop and drizzle clears. Highest temperatures will be 17-18 degrees. Wednesday will bring spells of sunshine and scattered showers which will become more isolated in the evening. Highest temperatures of 17-19 degrees are expected. Trinity is a standing, outdoor venue, so consider wearing boots or runners.

Bedford Summer Sessions 'benefits the local economy' says promoter
The organiser of a seven-day concert series says putting it on in a town centre park "benefits the local economy".Peter Taylor, co-founder of Cuffe & Taylor which organises the Bedford Summer Sessions featuring acts including Rag-n-Bone Man, Simple Minds and McFly, said the Bedford Park venue was ideal because it had all the transport infrastructure around it to get audiences "in and out".He said he was "committed" to the town and wanted the concert series "to continue and we want to be able to grow it". Wells & Co, the Bedford-based brewery, said the event, which runs 3-13 July, was "vital" to the hospitality business. Mr Taylor said the gigs were part of its "national series of concerts" with Summer Sessions also taking place in Derby, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Plymouth and Southampton. Some of the other gigs in Bedford included The Human League with the Thompson Twins' Tom Bailey and Blancmange; Supergrass with The Coral and Willie J Healey; and Café Mambo featuring Melanie C. "Being in a town centre has more positives than negatives because if you're in the middle of nowhere, everyone's got to get there," said Mr Taylor."We've got trains to London, buses, local car parks."As the event is put on close to houses "we meet with the residents, we do a lot of engagement with them, we talk to them", he added. "We have noise limits in our licence so that protects them to make sure that we're not too noisy for too long."Its current licence is for seven events over 11 days, with a limit of 15,000 people at each gig. "What I think works in Bedford is a nice number between 7,000 and 10,000 a day," said Taylor."It's about consistency - bigger isn't always better." Mr Taylor said: "Our preference is to have local food vendors. "We recruit locally for all our bar and VIP staff, our security staff, but also it's the hotels and accommodation businesses."UK Music estimates that for every person that attends a concert, they spend £100 in the local economy. It really benefits the local economy."A spokesman for Wells & Co, which has 16 pubs in the county town, including two that have accommodation, said: "As a hospitality business, these kinds of events are vital as they help bring energy and footfall into the town, encourage people to stay longer, and most importantly, they create moments of connection between local businesses and the community." Shirley Scotcher, interim chief executive of the Bedford and Northants MS Therapy Centre, which is the Summer Sessions' charity partner, said the concert series raised "much-needed funds" but also shone "a spotlight on the conditions we support: MS and Parkinson's". "These concerts give our members the opportunity to play an active role in supporting the centre they love and depend on," she said. This year the Proms in the Park concert is returning on Sunday, 6 July, with Russell Watson and Lesley Garrett, because it was "something the audience in Bedford wanted", Mr Taylor said. "We're already booking acts for next year," he added. Follow Beds, Herts and Bucks news on BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram and X.

Rag'n'Bone Man joins Celebrity Gogglebox
Rag'n'Bone Man has joined the cast of Celebrity Gogglebox. The 40-year-old musician is set to star alongside Romesh Ranganathan on the Channel 4 show this summer. In a promotional video ahead of their Gogglebox debuts, Romesh said: "Hello, I'm Romesh and this is Rory. "We are gonna be on Celebrity Gogglebox, aren't we?" Rag'n'Bone Man - whose real name is Rory Graham - then said: "Yes we are, this Friday at 9pm." Rag'n'Bone Man has already enjoyed huge success as a musician, after being named the British Breakthrough Act at the Brit Awards back in 2017. However, his upcoming appearance on Celebrity Gogglebox will mark his first foray into the world of reality TV. The Human hitmaker previously admitted that he's struggled to cope with the pressures of fame. He told BBC 5 Live: "I'm quite a private person. I have a small group of friends and I don't like massive crowds. "I couldn't describe something that I felt more uncomfortable with than being on a red carpet and having people shouting at you and taking pictures of you. And then having to go to an after-party where you're paraded around as the new thing. "I remember closing my eyes at one point and wishing that one of my mates would come and rescue me. It just doesn't suit me." Earlier this month, meanwhile, Jamie Laing and Munya Chawawa were confirmed as part of the Celebrity Gogglebox line-up. Jamie admitted at the time that he was looking forward to being part of the hit TV show. The 36-year-old star - who first found fame on Made in Chelsea - said: "I usually watch Googlebox with Sophie, my wife, so Munya is taking her place this week! "I love Gogglebox, so it's been a brilliant experience to be a part of. When Munya came onto my podcast last year, we had a brilliant chat, and now we're watching TV together - what could be better?" Prior to that, Paddy McGuinness and Vernon Kay, Vicky Pattison and Pete Wicks, and Jennifer Saunders and Beattie Edmondson were announced as being part of the Celebrity Gogglebox line-up.

Chart-topping pop star joins Celebrity Gogglebox in first ever reality TV gig joined by beloved comedian - and the pair hit screens tomorrow
A chart-topping pop star has joined Celebrity Gogglebox for their first ever reality TV gig, joined by a beloved comedian - with the pair hitting screens tomorrow. Singer Rag'n'Bone Man is teaming up with comedian Romesh Ranganathan on the popular Channel 4 reality show, with the pair's first episode set to air tomorrow night. The star-studded spin-off from the original programme, which launched in 2013, sees the cast of UK notables react to the week's biggest telly moments from their sofas. And the singer, 40, whose real name is Rory Graham, and the TV host, 47, are the latest to join their number. Four-time platinum-certified artist Rag'n'Bone Man, who has won three Brit Awards, is best known for his first hit single Human and his debut album named after it. Romesh, meanwhile, can be seen fronting The Weakest Link, presenting on BBC Radio 2 and in his long-time comedy partnership with fellow funny man Rob Beckett. He made a light-hearted video with Rag'n'Bone Man to announce their upcoming appearance on Celebrity Gogglebox, the latest series of which began earlier this month. A deadpan Romesh addressed the camera: 'Hello, I'm Romesh and this is Rory. 'We are gonna be on Celebrity Gogglebox, aren't we?' Rag'n'Bone Man replied, ahead of his reality TV debut: 'Yes, we are, this Friday at 9pm.' The pair are the latest to take to their sofa for Celebrity Gogglebox, which first launched back in 2019. For the latest series, darts legend Luke Littler has also joined the programme, along with his friend, the YouTuber known as Angry Ginge. Meanwhile, beloved celebrity pairings returning for the current series include radio presenter Nick Grimshaw and his niece Liv, as well as the Happy Mondays' Shaun Ryder and Bez. It comes after returning cast member, presenter Rylan Clark, revealed editors of Celebrity Gogglebox had to cut some 'career-ending' conversations from his appearances on the show with his mum, Linda. The star, aged 36, first rose to fame during his 2012 participation on The X Factor. He has since continued to fly while hosting shows including Big Brother's Bit on the Side, Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two, This Morning and more recently, Rob and Rylan's Grand Tour, with Judge Robert Rinder. Fans of Celebrity Gogglebox have enjoyed seeing a more unfiltered side of Rylan on the programme, including plenty of wise cracks at his mum's expense. The pair quickly became a fan favourite due to their zingy banter and no-holds-barred commentary. But appearing on This Morning last week, the pair admitted there are plenty of sofa conversations that do not make it to air. Conversations between them can push the boundaries the mother-son duo often have to implore editors to make cuts. 'When he mucks about', Linda explained: 'I go, "Please don't put that bit in!"' 'We're lucky the editors clearly like us', Rylan added: 'Because the stuff they've had to cut out is career-ending… We're like, "Yeah, can we not use that please?!"' Rylan, and Linda, 72, have featured on the celebrity edition of the Channel 4 hit since it started back in 2019. Many fans have come to adore them, calling for them to have their own spin-off show.
