How Rajasthan woman posed as sub inspector for 2 years, trained at police academy

A woman in Rajasthan masqueraded as a sub-inspector for nearly two years, not only dodging the police eye but all the while training alongside them and getting her picture clicked with senior officers in Jaipur. The woman has now been arrested, reported Live Hindustan. While training at the Rajasthan Police Academy, Mona had learned tricks to navigate her way around the premises.(X/@VijayKumbhar62) Mona Bugalia, 28, alias Mooli Devi, is a resident of Rajasthan's Nagaur district. She had given the sub-inspector recruitment exam in 2021, however, she could not crack it, according to police. Despite that, Bugalia started telling people and shared on social media that had been selected and started posing as a cop. She even reached Rajasthan Police Academy to train alongside real cops, dressed as one. Apart from training, she would also get herself clicked with officers and even started moving around among their circle, dodging suspicion, the report said. Avoided main gate, ID checks at RPA While training at the Rajasthan Police Academy, Mona had learned tricks to navigate her way around the premises. She avoided using the main gate, where the ID checks were done, to enter the academy. Instead, she used an alternative gate meant for officers and their families, said police. How 'Mooli Devi' was exposed Mona's web of lies, which continued for as long as around two years, was busted when she joined a WhatsApp group meant for sub-inspectors and threatened someone there. The person she had threatened then approached higher authorities, leading to an investigation that led to the shocking reveal - Mona was not a cop. An FIR was lodged against her at Shastri Nagar police station in Jaipur in 2023, following which, a raid was conducted at her rented accommodation in Jaipur. During the raid, police seized several items Mona used to pass off as a cop - police uniform, belt, badge and fake documents such as ID cards. However, Mona had absconded by then and had been on the run for around two years till her arrest from near a coaching institute in Rajasthan's Sikar. The police found out about her whereabouts after a lead from an informer, said Shastri Nagar police station SHO Mahendra Yadav. During her arrest, she tried to pass off as a student but failed to evade the police. Now that she is under arrest, police are trying to figure out how Mona managed to execute such an elaborate scam for almost two years and who helped her. Her contacts and call details are being checked and she is being probed.

Posing as sub-inspector, woman trained at Rajasthan Police Academy for 2 years

For nearly two years she participated in outdoor drills with trainee sub-inspectors on the campus of Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA) in Jaipur, posed with senior officers and posted photos in official uniform on social media, claiming to be a serving officer in the state police force. On Friday, the Rajasthan police finally arrested the woman, Mona Bugaliya (33), on charges of impersonating a police officer, forgery and cheating. Mona, who had been on the run since 2023 following a complaint by an RPA officer, was arrested from a rented accomodation in Sikar and brought to Jaipur for further questioning. According to police officers, Mona created fake documents to gain access to the premier training institute. She frequented the RPA campus from 2021 to 2023, claiming to be a trainee S-I and participating in outdoor activities and ceremonies, trying to blend in with new recruits and senior officers. She avoided indoor training sessions where attendance was recorded, said sources at the police academy. In September 2023, an RPA officer questioned Mona about her batch affiliation and she said she was an Intelligence Bureau (IB) recruit. The officer filed a complaint against her after not finding her name in the RPA records. This prompted an official inquiry. An FIR was registered against Mona on September 29, 2023, following which the Jaipur police raided her house in Nagaur district and recovered Rs 7 lakh and a police uniform from the premises. Mona, however, was absconding. Further investigation revealed that Mona had been preparing for the S-I recruitment exam for years and had sat for it multiple times without any success. In 2021, she posted false claims of being selected in the exam on social media to impress her relatives and friends. The police did not rule out the possibility of Mona using her fake profile to con many people between 2021 and 2023. More information will be revealed after questioning the accused, said the police.

Woman, posing as SI at Rajasthan Police Academy for two years, held

The Rajasthan Police have arrested a woman, who was impersonating as a police sub-inspector for almost two years at the Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA) using a fake identity and forged documents. The accused, identified as Mona Bugalia, also known as Mooli, was taken into custody earlier this week in Sikar district. She had been absconding since 2023 when a complaint was first registered against her in Jaipur, according to a report by NDTV. According to media reports, Bugalia never cleared the sub-inspector recruitment exam, but still managed to enter one of the state's top police training institutions. Police recover uniforms, forged documents Following her arrest, police searched a rented room linked to Bugalia and found ₹7 lakh in cash, three police uniforms, and some Rajasthan Police Academy exam papers. They also recovered forged documents she had used to fabricate her identity. Bugalia hails from Nimba Ke Bas in Nagaur district, and her father works as a truck driver. Official records confirmed she failed the sub-inspector recruitment exam in 2021. After that, she allegedly created fake documents under the name 'Mooli Devi' and spread a message on social media claiming she had been selected. Joined WhatsApp group for recruits, attended drills She also joined a WhatsApp group meant for sub-inspector trainees and appeared at the Rajasthan Police Academy, claiming she belonged to an earlier batch through the sports quota. Bugalia was regularly seen in full uniform on the RPA parade grounds, taking part in outdoor drills, appearing in social media reels, and posing for photos with senior police officials. She even posted motivational messages while pretending to be an officer. In one instance, she gave a career guidance talk from a public stage, dressed in full police uniform, standing beside senior officers, including those from the Indian Police Service. Entered academy through special gate It has also come to light that Bugalia avoided entering through the academy's main gate to escape ID checks. Instead, she reportedly used a special gate reserved for officers and their families. Investigators found that she never used the RPA's main entrance, fearing identity verification. Police are now trying to identify those who may have helped her. It also emerged that while staying in Sikar, she allegedly used WhatsApp calls to threaten individuals. However, Bugalia's impersonation began to fall apart when some trainee sub-inspectors expressed doubts about her credentials. Senior officers were alerted, and an internal probe was launched. When questioned, Bugalia admitted that she had faked her identity. She told police she had done it partly to impress her family — especially her four sisters — and partly to enjoy the privileges associated with being a police officer. 'Example of system failure' The case has sparked a strong reaction from netizens. Social activist Vijay Kumbhar even called the incident a sign of a failing system. "Mona Bugalia failed the cop exam in 2021. So she changed her name, forged documents, and got into the Jaipur Police Academy as 'Mooli Devi.' For two years, she trained, made reels with IPS officers, played tennis with ADGs, and extorted people. Nobody noticed she wasn't even real. Now arrested. No background check. No verification. Nothing," he wrote on social media. "You verify the whole world, but not your own recruits? This isn't just a lapse. It's institutional rot," he added. Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Police have confirmed that an investigation is underway to find out how Bugalia managed to get through security checks and who may have assisted her.

How "Mooli Devi" Faked Identity, Worked As Cop In Rajasthan For 2 Years

Jaipur: A woman has been arrested after masquerading for nearly two years as a police sub-inspector inside the Rajasthan Police Academy (RPA), attending training sessions, wearing official uniforms, and even posing for photographs with senior police officials. However, the Rajasthan Police Academy has stated that it is impossible to reach the classroom and the indoor training facilities of RPA. The accused, identified as Mona Bugalia, alias Mooli, was arrested earlier this week from Rajasthan's Sikar district. She had been on the run since 2023, when a complaint was first lodged against her in Jaipur. According to the police, Bugalia had successfully entered the state's premier police training institution without ever passing the sub-inspector recruitment examination. Following her arrest, police searched a rented room associated with Bugalia and recovered Rs 7 lakh in cash, three separate police uniforms, and examination papers from the Rajasthan Police Academy. Forged documents that had been used to support her false identity and background have also been recovered. According to the police, Bugalia is from Nimba Ke Bas, a village in Rajasthan's Nagaur district. Her father is a truck driver. Official records confirm she never passed the Rajasthan sub-inspector recruitment exam. After failing to qualify in 2021, she created false documents under the name "Mooli Devi" and circulated a message on social media claiming that she had been selected as a sub-inspector. Subsequently, she joined a WhatsApp group meant exclusively for sub-inspector recruits and presented herself at the Rajasthan Police Academy under the guise of a candidate from an earlier batch, one enrolled through the sports quota. For nearly two years, Bugalia was seen regularly at RPA's parade grounds in full uniform. She participated in outdoor drills, posed for photographs with ranking officers, and posted motivational content and reels on social media, all while passing herself off as a serving officer. In one such instance, she delivered career awareness speeches from a public stage wearing full police uniform. Images show her standing next to senior police officials, including IPS officers while offering motivational advice to young aspirants. Despite the high-security nature of the police academy, Bugalia allegedly managed to access restricted outdoor training zones. Bugalia's deception began unravelling when certain trainee sub-inspectors raised doubts about her identity. Senior officers were informed, and an internal inquiry was initiated. During questioning, Bugalia admitted she had assumed the fake identity. She confessed that she had not only wanted to impress her family, which includes four sisters, but also sought to exploit the powers associated with the police. The incident has provoked a reaction from Vijay Kumbhar, a social activist, who called it a symptom of "systemic rot." "Mona Bugalia failed the cop exam in 2021. Nothing," Mr Kumbhar said in a social media post. "You verify the whole world, but not your own recruits? This isn't just a lapse. It's institutional rot." Further investigation is underway, police said.
