Rajasthan's Mamta, Muskan in Indian handball team for Asian Youth Championship; Manisha Rathore named coach for China tournament
Jaipur: Rajasthan's Mamta and Muskan have been selected in the Indian team for the 11th Asian Youth Women's Handball Championship slated to be held from July 18 to 26 in Jiangshan, China. Manisha Rathore has been appointed as the coach of the 18-member Indian squad. The Indian women's handball team reached China on Thursday after attending the training camp, organized by SAI from June 12 to July 15 at the SAI Excellence Centre in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The honorary secretary of Rajasthan State Handball Association, Yash Pratap Singh said that Muskan, who plays in the left back position, and Mamta, who is the pivot in the team, are the members of the Women's Handball Academy, run by Rajasthan State Sports Council in Jaipur. Manisha Rathore, who has been made the coach of the team, is working as a handball coach in the Rajasthan State Sports Council. Earlier, she was the coach of the Indian team in the Asian and World Championships. Jaipur: Khelo India University Games were started by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2020 to promote sports talent at the university level and to create a sports environment in the country. Due to the positive efforts of the Chief Minister of the state Bhajan Lal Sharma, Rajasthan has got the responsibility of hosting the fifth Khelo India University Games, 2025. Jaipur: The city's Sawai Man Singh Stadium is all set to host three Indian Premier League (IPL) matches as the tournament resumes on May 17, following two bomb threats that were later confirmed to be hoaxes. Rajasthan State Sports Council (RSSC) chairperson Neeraj K Pawan assured fans and stakeholders that there is no cause for concern, with comprehensive security measures in place to ensure a safe and smooth bomb threats, on May 8 and May 12, which caused initial alarm, prompted swift action from authorities. A third threat mail was received Tuesday afternoon again prompted police to launch a full-scale search operation at the stadium. It too turned out to be a first threat, received via email, claimed a bomb was planted in retaliation for 'Operation Sindoor'. It triggered an immediate lockdown of the stadium, evacuation of all personnel, and a meticulous three-hour search by bomb detection squads, which found no explosives. The second threat, another email warning that the stadium would be 'blown up', prompted a similar response. Cybercrime officials are now investigating both emails to trace their origins and prevent further concerns, Pawan stated, "Bomb disposal squads conducted security drills twice, thoroughly checking every nook and corner of the stadium." He emphasised that stringent security protocols will be enforced during the matches, including rigorous checks at all entry points and the deployment of a dog squad to sweep the the third bomb threat received Tuesday, the RSSC chairperson said that 'it's totally fake'. "It's some miscreant who is demanding justice for a rape victim and threatening to set fire to the stadium. This email is entirely unrelated to the previous two emails. While we believe it poses no credible risk, we promptly reported the matter to the authorities for investigation," he Pawan revealed plans to request the Home Department to appoint a special officer to oversee security, a measure typically reserved for high-alert occasions like Independence Day (August 15) and Republic Day (Jan 26).
