PPU gets Rs 246 crore for new campus
Patna: The state govt has sanctioned Rs 246 crore to Patliputra University (PPU) for the construction of its new campus on a sprawling 10-acre area at Bakhtiyarpur in Patna district, VC Upendra Prasad Singh said on Friday. The VC said that he inspected the ongoing construction on Thursday. The university has decided to provide all modern facilities, he added. As of now, out of 10 floors construction work has been completed up to the fourth. The project timeline is 2027, after which the PPU plans to shift to the campus, the VC said. According to PPU's dean of students' welfare (DSW) Rajeev Ranjan, the new campus will house separate academic and administrative blocks, postgraduate classrooms and modern facilities including an air-conditioned auditorium, indoor sports complex, state-of-the-art library and canteen facilities. It will also have a vice-chancellor's residence, guest house and residential quarters for teaching and non-teaching staff, the first for a university in the state, he said.

PPU invites applications for admission to PG courses
Patna: Patliputra University (PPU) has released the admission schedule for its postgraduate (PG) regular courses in arts, science, commerce streams and self-financed programmes for the academic session 2025-27. According to PPU's dean of students' welfare (DSW) Rajeev Ranjan, the university has invited online applications for PG regular courses from July 13 to 28. The first merit list will be published on Aug 1, while admission process will be completed by Aug 7 and verification of the documents will be held on July 8. The second merit list will be announced on Aug 11 while admission process will be completed by Aug 14 and validation of documents will be completed on August 15. The third and final merit list will be published on Aug 18 and admission process will be completed by Aug 21 while documents will be verified and checked on Aug 22, he said. Classes for the newly admitted PG students are set to commence from Aug 22. The application fee has been fixed at Rs 800 for each candidate belonging to the general, BC-I and BC-II categories, while candidates from SC/ST categories will need to pay Rs 600 each, the DSW said. For the self-financed PG programmes, including MBA, MCA, MSc in biotechnology, MSc in environmental science and other professional courses, the online application window will remain open from Aug 13 to 29. Interestingly, the first merit list for these courses will also be released on Aug 1, followed by the second and third lists on Aug 11 and Aug 18, respectively, DSW said, adding the university has urged aspiring candidates to keep track of the university's official website for further details, including eligibility criteria, course-wise intake and counselling procedures. Delhi police intensifies security arrangements ahead of Kanwar yatra
New Delhi [India], July 8 (ANI): Ahead of the Kanwar Yatra 2025, the Delhi police have intensified security arrangements. According to DCP Rohini, Rajeev Ranjan, the police have made extensive arrangements in the Shahdara district, which is one of the routes for the Kanwar yatris to 'jal' from Haridwar or Garh Ganga. 'We have made extensive arrangements in the Shahdara district. It is one of the significant districts for Kanwar Yatris, as it is the route for those who bring 'jal' from Haridwar or Garh Ganga', the police official said. Rajeev Ranjan said that the administration has divided the district into three zones, out of which one starts from the Apsara border till the Shahdara flyover. Besides this, two small zones fall within the Shahdara district - one, from Keshav Chowk to Farsh Bazar and the second, Vivek Vihar zone. 770 police personnel have been deployed in the eye of the Kanwar yatra, and external forces have been demanded as well. 'We have divided it into three zones. One of these is a crucial zone, which starts from the Apsara Border till the Shahdara flyover. Besides this, two small zones fall within our district - one, from Keshav Chowk to Farsh Bazar and the second, Vivek Vihar zone. We have deployed 770 personnel, and we will also have our reserve. We have also demanded outside force, once they are allotted, we will deploy them too', the police official said. Meanwhile, the whole region is being monitored with the use of drones, and 18 Kanwar camps have been set up, which have a dedicated path for the Kanwar yatris. 'Drones are now a part of every will have 18 Kanwar camps along which we will give a dedicated path to Kanwars', he said. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday reviewed the preparations for the Kanwar Yatra. He conducted a comprehensive aerial survey of the entire Yatra route from Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad to Bijnor. During the inspection, he issued clear and strict instructions to officials to ensure seamless arrangements, security of devotees, and full respect for their religious sentiments. The Chief Minister placed special emphasis on maintaining the sanctity of the yatra, ensuring that the faith and enthusiasm of lakhs of devotees remain undisturbed. He directed officials to adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards those attempting to defile food items or engage in similar disrespectful acts. He stressed that those involved in such actions must face the strictest punishment so that the sacred nature of the Kanwar Yatra is not compromised. (ANI)
