Box Office Trends: Sitaare Zameen Par set for an EXCELLENT jump on second day; Aamir Khan starrer gains momentum
After opening at Rs 10.50 crore on Friday, the Aamir Khan led Sitaare Zameen Par is showing a solid jump in business on the second day. According to very early trends, the film is looking at a 80 percent jump in collections on Saturday, with business expected to be in the range of Rs 18.50 crore to Rs 19.50 crore. There is an outside chance of hitting the Rs 20 crore mark too, but that would depend on how far the occupancies go towards the evening and night shows. As on 3 PM on Saturday, Sitaare Zameen Par has collected Rs 7.90 crore on Saturday, showcasing a 100 percent jump over Friday. For those unaware, the collections in the national chains on Friday at 3 PM stood at Rs 3.80 crore. The figures include advances for evening and night shows, which means that the final jump could settle in the range 80 percent. There is a chance of the film retaining the same jump too, as there are enough shows and screens for it to explode in the evening shows. The Saturday jump puts Sitaare Zameen Par in a very strong spot to emerge a success, and on track for an opening weekend in the vicinity of Rs 55 crore. The jump also indicates appreciation in the cinema-going audience, and again brings to notice the importance of genuinely good cinema in the post pandemic world. The presence of a superstar like Aamir Khan is pushing the word of mouth faster, and taking the film to a wider than usual audience for the genre, which is also reflecting in the business. A jump in the vicinity of 80 to 100 percent is there in non-national chains like Rajhans and MovieMax too, and this is a positive sign for the film to record a trend in the long run. An urban film usually sees a jump in the vicinity of 50 to 60 percent, but Sitaare Zameen Par, has gone off the roof in terms of percent of spike, and this is the first sign of the film beginning to establish itself to break out in the long run. If the film trends like Super 30 from hereon, an entry in the Rs 150 crore seems locked, whereas the day-on-day trend of Chhichhore could take it closer to the Rs 200 crore club. These are still estimates based on early trends, and the final business could be marginally higher or lower depending on the performance in evening and night shows. Sitaare Zameen Par Day Wise Business Saturday: Rs 19.00 crore (Expected) Total: Rs 29.50 crore Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates!

Housefull 5 Day 2 Box Office Trends: Akshay Kumar starrer aims for 35 percent jump on Bakri Eid
After scoring a good start of Rs 22.00 crore on Friday, the Akshay Kumar-led comic caper, Housefull 5 is seeing a jump in business on Saturday. According to very early trends, the business is up by 35-40 percent, indicating second-day business in the range of Rs 29.00 crore to Rs 31.00 crore. This takes the two-day total of Housefull 5 to Rs 52 crore, and the movie is targeting opening weekend collections in the vicinity of of Rs 85 crore mark. The second-day business of Housefull 5 is seeing a normal-than-usual jump for a mass-reliant film owing to the Bakri Eid holiday. Centers like Gujarat, Rajasthan, UP, and Bihar are showing positive signs for the film to have legs in the long run. The report seems to be fine among the audience, as a film with negative reports would never show a spike in business even on a holiday, as it has been the case with many feature films in the post pandemic world. The Akshay Kumar film is scoring high occupancies in Mumbai and Delhi as well, and a reasonable hold on Monday will spell a success story for this Sajid Nadiadwala-produced comic caper. Talking of national chains, the film has grossed Rs 9.01 crore at 3 PM on Saturday, as compared to Rs 7.25 crore on Friday at the same time. The business is up by 25 percent until 3 PM, and the same is expected to escalate towards the 30 percent mark by end of the day. Non national chains like MovieMax, Rajhans, and Miraj are show better gains than the national chains, and this was very much expected, given the target audience and appeal of Housefull 5. From here, if the film manages to show even a 10 percent spike on Sunday, it is set for a rather healthy run at the box office, as rarely do films showcase an upward swing on Sunday, coming off a Holiday on Saturday. One must note that these are estimates based on very very early trends, and the actuals could vary depending on the performance towards the late evening and night shows. The same shall be duly updated on the website. Here's a look at day wise box office collections of Housefull 5 Friday: Rs 22.00 crore Saturday: Rs 30.00 crore (Expected) Total: Rs 52.00 crore

Housefull 5 India Advance Booking Update: Akshay Kumar's comic caper to sell in the vicinity of 40000 tickets in top chains with a day to go
Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5 is gearing up for its big release on June 6, 2025. The advance bookings for the comic caper kicked off a few days ago and here is how the bookings are in India's top multiplex chains, PVRInox and Cinepolis. As of 10 PM on June 4, the film has sold 37,000 tickets. By the end of the day, Housefull 5 is expected to hit 40,000 tickets. With just one day left, the makers are hoping for a massive surge to reach at least 100,000 tickets in these chains. The advance bookings for the Akshay Kumar starrer started on June 1. Initially, the target was to sell 125,000 to 150,000 tickets in PVRInox and Cinepolis. However, the pace has been slower than expected. As of now, the film is aiming for a more realistic 100,000 tickets by Thursday night. This would set the stage for a respectable opening day collection of Rs 20 crore net in India. While Rs 20 crore is a not exactly a bad start, a film of Housefull 5's scale, boasting a Rs 225 crore budget, needs a bigger opening to make waves. A Rs 25-30 crore start would be ideal, but you take what you get. Outside the top chains, the booking trend is stronger. Chains like Rajhans, MovieMax, and Miraj are seeing better pre-sales. This suggests that Housefull 5 could see good walk-in numbers on release day, especially in smaller towns. The weekend bookings looks promising. Advance bookings for Saturday (Bakri Eid) and Sunday are picking up strongly. Family audiences are expected to turn up in big numbers, boosting the film's prospects. If the comedy lands well and the murder-mystery intrigue around the dual climaxes clicks, Housefull 5 could see a big jump over the weekend. Financially, Housefull 5 is in a strong position. The film has already recovered nearly 60 percent of its budget, that is around Rs 135 crore, through non-theatrical sources like satellite rights, digital streaming, and music deals. This gives the makers a safety net. To break even, the film needs to gross Rs 275 crore worldwide. To be declared a hit, it must cross Rs 325 crore globally. With a massive release across 5,000 screens in India, the stage is set for a big theatrical run. The unique strategy of releasing two versions with different climaxes should spark discussions after the release. This could possibly also drive repeat viewings, adding to the box office haul. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, Housefull 5 features a star-studded cast that also includes Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, and Jacqueline Fernandez among others. The franchise's brand value and the promise of a laugh riot on a luxury cruise are key draws. With good international pre-sales and a holiday weekend ahead, Housefull 5 is poised for a reasonable global start.

Housefull 5 Advance Booking: Akshay Kumar starrer tops 10,000 tickets in National Chains; Aims to gain momentum
Akshay Kumar returns to the big screen on June 6 with the Sajid Nadiadwala-produced Housefull 5, and the full-fledged advances for the comic caper opened on Sunday morning. As on Monday at 5.30 PM, Housefull 5 has sold 10,250 tickets in the top 3 national chains, PVRInox and Cinepolis, and the film will be looking to close T-3 at pre-sales of 14,000 tickets in the multiplexes. The advance bookings are better than most of the Akshay Kumar films in the post-pandemic world, however, the pace could have been faster. The target for Housefull 5 should be to go in the north of 1,25,000 tickets in the national chains by Thursday night, and aim at a start around the Rs 20.00 crore to 25 crore mark and then hope for the reports to come into play over the weekend. The film has a holiday on Saturday, which means that the positive audience reports could push the film to a bigger than usual jump on the second day. The advance bookings in other multiplex chains like Rajhans, MovieMax and Miraj is relatively better, which is always an early indicator about the scope for walk-ups on the day of release. While Miraj has sold about 650 tickets, MovieMax has recorded a pre-sale of 375 tickets. Housefull 5 should be aiming to record an advance in the excess of 3000 tickets in MovieMax. Rajhans, which is a key chain of Gujarat stands at advance booking of 500 tickets, and this centre should be showing very good momentum on Wednesday and Thursday. These are still early days, and we will have a clear picture on where the film is headed by end of Wednesday. The overseas pre-sales for the comic caper give us some optimism on the film to gain momentum in India as well. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more analysis on Housefull 5.

Elderly woman sleeping outside her house due to heat mauled to death by leopard in Shirur
Pune: An 82-year-old woman sleeping outside her house because of the unbearable heat was attacked and mauled to death by a leopard at Inamgaon village in Shirur early on Friday. Her decapitated body was later spotted in a sugar cane field by forest officials. The woman was fast asleep when the leopard pounced on her and dragged her around 700 feet away to a sugar cane field. The incident occurred around 4.30am. This was the first death in a leopard attack in the district this year, forest officials said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Google Brain Co-Founder Andrew Ng, Recommends: Read These 5 Books And Turn Your Life Around Blinkist: Andrew Ng's Reading List Undo In December last year, a 4-year-old girl was killed in a leopard attack in Shirur at Pimpalsuti village, around 4km from the site of Friday's attack. A senior forest official said that the woman, who had been suffering from asthma, was sleeping in the open as she could not sleep inside her house due to extreme heat. "The leopard first attacked the two dogs sleeping near the victim. However, the dogs managed to escape, following which the big cat attacked the woman and dragged her by her neck to a nearby sugar cane field," an official said. The leopard attacked only her neck and there were no other injuries on other parts of her body, he said. Smita Rajhans, assistant conservator of forest, Junnar Forest Division, said, "A team immediately went to the spot after the forest department was informed about the incident around 5.45 am. We conducted preliminary investigation as per the protocol. It was confirmed that the woman died in a leopard attack. Later, the body was sent for post-mortem." The forest department has deployed cages at five places to capture the big cat. Additionally, trap cameras have been installed at nine places. Two rotating cameras have also been installed. ANIDERS (Animal Intrusion Detection and Repellent System), machines have also been installed in the area as a preventive measure, Rajhans said. These machines are used to deter leopards and other wild animals from entering human habitations. The forest department has already set up a base camp at Nhavare, a village located around 5-6 km from the attack site, considering the increased presence of leopards in the area. Rajhans said that leopard sightings have increased in areas around Shirur and Daund. "The leopard population is rapidly increasing, and they need a new territory every two years. Hence, a large number of them are migrating towards Shirur and Daund, particularly around rivers, as these areas are also witnessing increased sugar cane farming," she said. |
