Couple cheat garment shop owners with fake online payments, held

Ahmedabad: Vastrapur police in the city on Tuesday detained a man and a woman before registering a case against them for cheating four garment shop owners by pretending to make online payments and walking away with garments worth Rs 55,695. The case was filed based on a complaint by Mahipalsinh Rajpurohit, a shopkeeper in Vastrapur. Rajpurohit told police that on May 23, a man and woman visited his shop, selected clothes worth Rs 11,394, and claimed to have paid through UPI after scanning his QR code. However, when he checked his account, he had not received any payment. Suspicious, Rajpurohit reached out to other shopkeepers in the Mansi Tower area. Another shop owner revealed a similar experience — the same duo had purchased clothes worth Rs 14,000 and claimed to have paid online, but the transaction had failed. The shopkeepers shared CCTV footage of the suspects in a WhatsApp group. Two more shopkeepers came forward, reporting the same modus operandi. To track them down, the shopkeepers devised a plan by inviting the suspects back under the pretext of exchanging clothes. Once they returned, the police were alerted who detained the duo. Following confirmation from the other shop owners, police registered a cheating case against the accused, identified as Karan Joshi and Jhalak Upadhyay. Vastrapur police have launched an investigation.

Space: Record-Breaking Cosmic Discovery Challenges Long-Standing Physics

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Astronomers have smashed the record for the largest-known cloud of energetic particles discovered surrounding a galactic cluster—and the find could shake up established physics. The cluster in question, which has the catchy name of "PLCK G287.0+32.9," lies some 5 billion light-years from Earth. The cloud around it is nearly a whopping 20 million light-years across—about 20 times the diameter of our Milky Way galaxy—beating the previous record holder, seen around cluster Abell 2255, which spanned only 16.3 million light-years. PLCK G287.0+32.9 was first spotted in 2011, with studies revealing that the cluster's edges were lit up by two giant shockwaves. The study was led by astronomer Kamlesh Rajpurohit of the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. "We expected a bright pair of relics at the cluster's edges, which would have matched prior observations, but instead we found the whole cluster glowing in radio light," Rajpurohit said in a statement. She added: "A cloud of energetic particles this large has never been observed in this galaxy cluster or any other." In addition, when the team peered deep into the cluster's central region, they also detected a radio halo some 11.4 million light-years across—the first of this size seen at the 2.4 gigahertz frequency, at which such large halos are not normally visible. Rajpurohit et al.; Optical: PanSTARRS; Radio: SARAO/MeerKAT; Image processing: NASA/CXC/SAO/N. Wolk "Very extended radio hales are mostly only visible at lower frequencies because the electrons that produce them have lost energy—they're old and have cooled over time," explained Rajpurohit. "With the discovery of this enormous halo, we are now seeing radio emission extending all the way between the giant shocks and beyond, filling the entire cluster. "That suggests something is actively accelerating or reaccelerating the electrons, but none of the usual suspects apply. "We think that giant shockwaves or turbulence could be responsible, but we need more theoretical models to find a definitive answer." In the cluster's center, the team explained, this activity could be the result of the merger of two smaller galactic clusters, outbursts from a supermassive black hole, or both combined. According to the researchers, the discovery provides us with a new means to examine cosmic magnetic fields—and could help astrophysicists unpick how magnetism shapes the universe on the biggest of scales. "We're starting to see the universe in ways we never could before," said Rajpurohit. "That means rethinking how energy and matter move through its largest structures." The full findings of the study were presented on Monday at the 246th meeting of the American Astronomical Society, which is being held in Anchorage, Alaska, from 8–12 June. Welcome celebration of Ayodhya Ram Lalla held in Trinidad & Tobago

Port of Spain [Trinidad and Tobago], May 29 (ANI): A grand welcome celebration for Ayodhya Shri Ram Lalla was organized by the Ayodhya Shri Ram Organisation of Trinidad & Tobago, in collaboration with Overseas Friends of Ram Mandir, New York, and supported by over 40 local organizations. The event coincided with the commemoration of 180 years since the arrival of East Indians to Trinidad & Tobago. Thousands gathered to witness the unveiling of a replica of the Ram Lalla murti from Ayodhya, which had arrived from India especially for the occasion. In a press release, Amit Alagh, Chairman of the Ayodhya Shri Ram Organisation, expressed pride in the massive turnout and the spiritual significance of the event. The murti was jointly unveiled by: Pradeep Singh Rajpurohit, Indian High Commissioner to Trinidad & Tobago, Prem Bhandari, Founder of Overseas Friends of Ram Mandir, New York & Chairman of Jaipur Foot USA, Swami Brahmswaroopanand Ji, who specially blessed the event and Sieunarine Coosal, prominent local leader and philanthropist. Rajpurohit, who served as the Chief Guest, delivered a heartfelt address referencing numerous verses from the Ramcharitmanas and Ramayan, emphasizing the eternal relevance of Shri Ram. He also congratulated newly re-elected Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India was the first global leader to congratulate her on her second term earlier this month, according to the release. In a major announcement, Rajpurohit shared that an artificial limb fitment camp (Jaipur Foot) will soon be organized in Trinidad & Tobago under the 'India for Humanity' initiative by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. The camp, conducted by Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) -- the parent body of Jaipur Foot USA -- will benefit over 800 differently-abled (Divyang) individuals across the country. Prem Bhandari, who traveled from New York to attend the ceremony, stated, 'It doesn't feel like I am in Trinidad -- it feels like I am in Ayodhya. Even after 180 years, the faith of Indians in Trinidad in Sanatan Dharma is as deep and strong as that of Indians living in India or anywhere else in the world.' He also highlighted that Trinidad is perhaps the only country where Ramayan chanting takes place daily, and noted the presence of one of the world's tallest Hanuman Murtis, standing 85 feet tall, located right in Trinidad, according to the release. The celebrations included vibrant devotional singing by local groups as well as performers from India, creating an atmosphere of divine joy and unity. The press release also recalled the massive turnout for previous spiritual events organized in collaboration with Overseas Friends of Ram Mandir, New York, including the Ayodhya Pran Pratishtha celebrations in January and Hanuman Chalisa chanting in April, both of which drew thousands of devotees. Couple Says Jewellery Worth Rs 30 Lakh, Cash Stolen From Check-In Bag At Delhi Airport

New Delhi: A Bengaluru-based married couple has filed a police complaint alleging that their jewellery valued at about Rs 30 lakh and Rs 30,000 in cash was stolen from their check-in baggage at the Delhi international airport. The alleged incident took place early morning of April 26 at Terminal-1 of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. The couple claimed that they found the valuables missing when they checked their bag in Bengaluru. "About 29-30 tolas of jewellery worth Rs 30 lakh was stolen from our check-in baggage," the complainant Bhagirath Singh Rajpurohit told PTI. An FIR in the matter has been filed at the Delhi Police station located at the airport, he said. Rajpurohit, a banker, said he and his wife had gone to attend a wedding in their home state of Rajasthan on April 14 and were returning to Bengaluru via Delhi. "The jewellery was in a steel box placed in a trolley suitcase. A total of Rs 30,000 in cash was also there in three pouches in the same bag. But after we landed in Bengaluru and reached home we found all these valuables were not there," Rajpurohit said. A police officer said they are checking CCTV footage from the airport. "Multiple teams have been formed to investigate the matter," the officer said. According to the complaint, the couple claimed that the trolley bag, which had a number lock and a small physical lock on the zip chain, had a cut mark inside a fold. Both the number lock and the physical lock were intact, Rajpurohit said. Among the ornaments were gold earrings, bangles, anklets and an armlet, the couple claimed. A bank passbook and an Aadhaar card were also missing. Rajpurohit said he suspects it to be the handiwork of the staff. The luggage was checked-in with the airline at about 7.20 am on April 26 and the flight departed at 11.30 am. It landed in Bengaluru around 2 pm, he said. "This was all the gold my wife had. These were made at her ancestral place. We request police and airport authorities to catch the culprits soon and help us in getting our valuables back," he said. Rajpurohit said they have also informed the police that a gold chain belonging to his father, who took a different flight to Dibrugarh from Delhi the same day but half-an-hour after their flight, was also stolen in a similar fashion.
