Naidu lacks sincerity on Polavaram: Ambati
Tadepalli: The YSRCP accused Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of making hollow claims about the Polavaram project while neglecting Rayalaseema's water needs. Speaking at the party headquarters here on Thursday, former minister Ambati Rambabu said that the Polavaram–Banakacherla project was YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's brainchild, not Naidu's. He criticised Naidu's recent Delhi meeting with Telangana's Chief Minister as a political stunt, yielding no results or official statements. Rambabu said the project lacks approval from the Polavaram Project Authority and Central Water Commission. He alleged that Naidu's focus is on securing kickbacks through mobilisation advances rather than project completion. The project's viability hinges on maintaining a 42-metre water level, but Naidu's agreement to lower it undermines its effectiveness. Rambabu claimed Naidu cannot complete Polavaram by 2027, accusing him of ignoring expert advice for personal gain. He recalled a similar fruitless meeting last year between the two Telugu states' leaders on water issues. The YSRCP leader warned that Naidu is misleading the public on Polavaram and Amaravati, asserting that only YS Rajasekhar Reddy and Jagan Mohan Reddy genuinely worked for Rayalaseema's development. He also condemned Naidu for visiting the HNSS project site only to criticise YSRCP and for police actions against citizens attending Jagan's meetings, labelling it political repression.

AP Jeevandan to rotate hospital coordinators to boost organ donations
1 2 3 Visakhapatnam: In a move to boost organ donations across Andhra Pradesh, the AP Jeevandan programme is planning to rotate transplant coordinators among registered hospitals statewide. This initiative aims to replicate best practices from high-performing centres across other hospitals. These coordinators serve as a crucial bridge between grieving families and medical teams, facilitating consent and communication during emotionally charged moments. Their empathetic counselling helps transform personal loss into life-saving opportunities through cadaver organ donation. Despite nearly 80 hospitals being registered under the Jeevandan scheme, a significant number either fail to declare brain-dead cases or do not participate in organ retrieval and transplantation procedures. The deployment of coordinators from one hospital to another is expected to ensure close monitoring of brain-dead cases, thereby increasing donation rates. In many cases, a lack of initiative by registered hospitals or their staff in creating awareness among patients' relatives contributes to missed opportunities for organ donation. Speaking to TOI, Jeevandan state coordinator Dr K Rambabu said that a roster will be prepared for the deployment of hospital coordinators from one facility to another to support this effort. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Đây có thể là thời điểm tốt nhất để giao dịch vàng trong 5 năm qua IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo "Andhra Pradesh is set to become the first state to introduce such a reform to improve organ donations. In 2024, Andhra Pradesh conducted 210 organ donations for the first time. By this June, the state already completed 141 donations. Over the past four years, Jeevandan conducted widespread awareness programmes. As a result, people are stepping forward to donate organs, setting an example for the entire nation," said Dr Rambabu. "So far, around 5,000 people have applied for organ transplants under the Jeevandan programme. Among them, the majority have applied specifically for kidney transplants. To address this, AP Jeevandaan, with the support of the state govt, is implementing various initiatives to encourage organ donation. AP is setting a national benchmark through the Jeevandan programme, and the credit goes entirely to the state govt. The govt recently issued granting 10,000 towards the funeral expenses of brain-dead individuals, along with instructions for govt officials to pay full state honours. Liver transplants were initiated at VIMS Hospital, and all district-level govt hospitals were enrolled under the Jeevan Dan programme. The process of retrieving organs from brain-dead individuals will soon be launched across all govt hospitals. Through this initiative, the govt is creating opportunities to give a new lease of life to thousands of people awaiting transplants," added the Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences director. Since 2015, through the Jeevandan programme in Andhra Pradesh, organs have been retrieved, and many lives have been renewed. So far, organs have been provided to 1,148 individuals. These include 634 kidneys, 271 livers, 88 hearts, 151 lungs, 3 pancreases, and 1 small bowel, all sourced from 358 brain-dead individuals. Infographics: 3,062 patients are waiting for kidney transplants, making it the highest among all organs 1,492 patients are registered for liver transplants 81 patients are registered for heart transplants, 15 for lungs, and 4 for pancreas Out of 4,604 registered patients, 50 are waiting for multiple organs AP crossed the 200 mark for the first time by conducting 210 organ donations in 2024 The state conducted 141 donations in the first six months of this year Govt General Hospital, Vijayawada, was registered as a new OTC for performing deceased & live donor kidney transplants on June 25

Police deny assault claim, say allegations are baseless and timed to mislead
Police officials at Jubilee Hills have firmly denied allegations of custodial violence made by a man whose minor son was accused in a voyeurism case late last year. In a statement issued on Saturday, the Jubilee Hills division described the claims as 'false, misleading and motivated by ulterior motives'. The controversy stems from a complaint made by one Rambabu, also known as Mohammed Ismail, a resident of LN Nagar in Yousufguda. He alleged that police had physically assaulted his son during the investigation of a case registered on 16 December last year. However, the Assistant Commissioner of Police has clarified that no such mistreatment occurred, either during the inquiry or at any time thereafter. According to the statement, the original case was filed following a complaint from a Yousufguda resident, who accused the boy, referred to as a Child in Conflict with Law (CCL), of attempting to record private videos of him and his wife while they were bathing. The minor allegedly used a mobile phone placed through a ventilator above their bathroom. The device was seized and a case was booked under Section 77 read with 62 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The police say the final report has already been filed in court, and all procedures were carried out strictly in line with legal norms. The police also noted that the minor continued attending school through April this year and was active in extracurricular activities such as the NCC. He reportedly received medical treatment at Osmania General Hospital in April and May for unrelated health issues. Officials emphasised that the complaint by the boy's father has surfaced more than six months after the investigation concluded and appears to be a bid to obstruct legal proceedings. He had earlier even approached the police requesting closure of the case against his son, the statement said, implying a shift in stance possibly intended to draw public sympathy or pressure authorities. The police have warned that legal action will be taken against those attempting to malign the force or interfere with investigations. 'We have maintained the integrity of the process and protected the rights of the minor throughout,' the ACP said, while urging the public not to fall for unfounded allegations.

According to Andhra Pradesh Jeevandan coordinator Dr K Rambabu, Parashuram, the younger son of Dhanaraju and Lakshmi, a fishermen family from Bheemili, followed his passion for painting. "He went with another person to paint at an apartment near Gayathri Hospital in Vizag city on Wednesday. He was painting the balcony of an apartment on the second floor when he accidentally slipped and fell. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital. As there was no improvement in his condition, he was transferred to VIMS on Thursday evening. Despite the doctors' best efforts, no recovery was made, and the medical team declared him brain dead. Upon informing the family, they chose to donate his organs. On Friday morning, his two kidneys, liver, and two eyes were recovered and sent to different hospitals according to Jeevandhan protocol," said Dr Rambabu.
