Abhishek Bachchan recalls what Ram Gopal Varma told him about award shows: 'How does that validate you?'

Abhishek Bachchan has worked with Ram Gopal Varma in 'Naach', 'Sarkar' and 'Sarkar Raj'. In a recent interview with ETimes, Abhishek recalled something that the director told him, which also gave him an all-new perspective about getting an award. He also spoke about how that made sense, which is why actors shouldn't ever be compared. The 'Guru' actor told ETimes, "Ramu told me something. We were shooting for 'Sarkar'. It happened funnily because there was an award function which I wanted to go to. I was nominated. I think I was nominated for Yuva and I wanted to go but I was shooting. Then, Ramu told me, 'I don't believe in awards and all'. I said why? Because in those days awards were a really big thing. Sadly today it's just fallen off, and it's sad because today we don't have anything genuine that celebrates our work. I said 'I want to go because I have a good chance to win.' He said, 'But why does that validate you?' I said, 'What do you mean?' He asked me, 'Who are the other people nominated for best supporting actor?' I said, 'so and so..'. Abhishek added further, "He told me, 'When you give a school exam everybody writes the same paper and you're judged on that. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Buy Brass Idols - Handmade Brass Statues for Home & Gifting Luxeartisanship Buy Now Undo So, over here all of you do Lallan from 'Yuva' and then we'll see who's better.' I said, 'Wow'. So, for me, I feel, we should say who we prefer as an actor. We can't ever say who's a better actor." Giving an example of art and artists, Abhishek added that while as an audience, we can choose who we prefer to watch, but it's unfair to say 'so and so is a better actor than that one'. He added, "In Indian art, we have two wonderful Indian painters, some of my favourites include Subhash Awchat and Paresh Maity. I love both of their works. Who's the better painter? You can't say it. It's subjective. You can choose who appeals better to you but you can't say this guy is better than the other. You shouldn't say it for actors either. What I'm saying is, it's very unfair and wrong to say that about an artist. Oh, he's better. You can say, 'Oh I prefer him. But you can't say, 'Oh he's better'." Abhishek will be seen next in 'Kaalidhar Laapata', set to release on July 4 on OTT.

Abhishek Bachchan opens up on being pitted against Hrithik Roshan when 'Refugee' and 'Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai' released in the same year: 'Can't compare artists, it's unfair

Abhishek Bachchan made his debut in 2000 with JP Dutta's 'Refugee' along with Kareena Kapoor Khan. In the same year, Hrithik Roshan 's 'Kaho Hai' had also released. It was obvious that there were comparisons between the two actors, also because both of them belonged to the industry. Not to mention, Abhishek also came with a greater responsibility breing Amitabh Bachchan's son. In a recent interview with ETimes, when we asked Abhishek if he ever felt a sense of insecurity, here's what he said. One also can't oversee the way 'Kaho Hai' looked in its entirety, as opposed to 'Refugee' which was rather simple in its core. Was Abhishek ever insecure as a debutant? Reacting to it, he said, "We would be pitted against each other right? I mean, we debuted in the same year. But no, as a newcomer, I was never ever insecure. I never thought of it like that because I never looked upon anybody as my competition and I don't mean that arrogantly. I mean it from a sense of, I can't do what you do and you can't do what I do because this is me physically. You can't compare artists somewhere I feel that goes against artistry. See, who you prefer is different. That's your choice. I'll give you an example from art." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Memperdagangkan CFD Emas dengan salah satu spread terendah? So, over here all of you do Lallan Singh from 'Yuva' and then we'll see who's better.' I said, 'Wow'. So, for me, I feel, we should say who we prefer as an actor. We can't ever say who's a better actor." The 'Guru' actor further opened up on his bonding with childhood buddy Hrithik and said, "Hrithik is a great actor and a friend. I'm genuinely immensely happy for all that he's achieved and continues to achieve. But more than that, I love the person that he is. And so there's never been any animosity to any of my colleagues. I genuinely want them to do well. I want my colleagues, and my co-stars to be so good. Because that is a constant inspiration for me. It makes you aspire to, 'Oh that person is doing such a good job. I should also work hard'."

6 get life term for killing village head in Hathras 2016

Agra: The district court in Hathras on Friday sentenced six men to life imprisonment for the murder of Bidhipur village head, Ramu alias Ramkumar, in 2016 over election-related animosity. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 each on convicts — Pramod, Narendra alias Goli, Shivkumar, Brijesh, Pradeep and Jaikumar — all residents of Bidhipur. Officials said the incident took place on July 20, 2016, when Ramu, then 35, was on way to Hathras on a motorcycle. He was ambushed and shot dead near Nagla Imaliya on Jalesar Road under Kotwali Hathras Junction police station limits. Additional district govt counsel (ADGC), Ashok Kumar, said, "The murder stemmed from rivalry following Ramu's victory in the panchayat elections six months prior to the incident. Based on a complaint by the victim's family, a case was registered under IPC section 302, and all the accused were arrested following an investigation." Following years of legal proceedings, the court found all six accused guilty and pronounced the life sentences. "All six convicts were taken into custody and sent to jail," the ADGC said. Kamaraddy man, addicted to toddy, hospitalised in Saudi Arabia

Hyderabad: A Kamaraddy-based worker has been hospitalised in Saudi Arabia after falling ill, allegedly due to adulterated toddy which he often consumed in his hometown. He was reportedly suffering from a mental health issue and was admitted to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Medical City Hospital in Medina. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Ramu was reportedly accustomed to drinking adulterated toddy before he left for Saudi Arabia last month. Some toddy compounds violate the rules by mixing Chloral Hydrate, Diazepam and Alprazolam into the toddy, which intoxicates the person who consumes it. However, this has a debilitating effect on the individual, affecting their nervous system. On Tuesday, Ramu's family approached Pravasi Praja Vani at Praja Bhavan in Hyderabad and submitted a memorandum addressed to chief minister A Revanth Reddy, urging him to arrange for the worker to receive medical treatment in India. On the same day, the General Administration Department (GAD) of the Telangana govt sent a letter to the Consul General of India in Jeddah, requesting assistance in transferring the patient to India. "The police and revenue authorities must also raise awareness of the harmful effects of consuming such adulterated toddy," said Mandha Bheem Reddy, TPCC NRI cell convenor, adding that this was necessary in several districts.

Amit Kumar reveals Kishore Kumar was asked to pay a bribe by someone in the Ministry in exchange for a National Award: ‘He was told, give something, we'll nominate you'

Kishore Kumar 's legacy as one of India's most iconic and versatile playback singers is undisputed. But what continues to baffle fans and music lovers is the fact that the legendary artist never received a National Film Award. In a recent interview, his son and fellow singer Amit Kumar shed light on a shocking reason behind this: Kishore was once asked to pay a bribe in exchange for an award nomination. During a conversation with Vickey Lalwani, Amit Kumar confirmed that his father came close to winning a National Award for his directorial venture Door Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein in 1964. The film, a commercial and critical success, marked a turning point in Kishore Kumar's career after his acting projects began faltering. Revealing the behind-the-scenes politics, Amit said, 'Yes, that happened. He got a call from Delhi from someone in the Ministry. At that time, Haqeeqat, Dosti, and Door Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein were being considered (for the National Award). They told my father, 'If you do something, give something, then we can get you nominated.' My father was like, 'Why are you after my life? My film is a hit.'' Door Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein, which featured both Kishore and a young Amit Kumar in key roles, was an Indian adaptation of the 1958 Hollywood film The Proud Rebel. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 40대 이상이고 PC가 있으세요? 그럼 이 게임을 정말 좋아하실 거예요! Ironically, while the Hindi version didn't win the National Award, its Tamil remake Ramu, made by a filmmaker to whom Kishore sold the rights, went on to win the prestigious honour. Kishore Kumar's Son Amit Kumar Opens Up On Leena Chandavarkar, Madhubala, Lataji, Bappida | #BigInterview 'The film ran for 23 weeks at Super Cinema. In Delhi-UP, the film was a silver jubilee. Then he sold the rights to a Tamil filmmaker. The remake was called Ramu. That won the National Award,' Amit added, highlighting the bitter irony. Though best known for his soulful voice and unique singing style, Kishore Kumar was also a passionate filmmaker. He directed 12 films in his career, out of which eight were released and four remained incomplete. His final directorial, Mamta Ki Chhaon Mein, considered a spiritual sequel to Door Gagan Ki Chhaon Mein, was released posthumously in 1990 and featured Amit Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Rajesh Khanna, and Leena Chandavarkar .
