Minister of Public Works Fayez Rasamny welcomed a delegation from UAE-based renewable energy firm Global South Utilities (GSU), headed by Vice President Mohammed Al Dhaheri. The delegation included Ali Al Shammari, CEO for Renewable Energy, Elie Salloum, Executive Director of Investments, and Mounir Khater. Discussions focused on potential investment projects to enhance electricity production in Lebanon through renewable energy sources. Rasamny also met with the Head of Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Lebanon, Ms. Agnès Dhur, accompanied by Political Advisor Mr. Shawky Amine Eddine. The meeting covered humanitarian cooperation and infrastructure priorities. Furthermore, the Minister held talks with MP Mohammad Yahya, with whom he reviewed public and developmental needs in Akkar. Rasamny also received a delegation from the municipal council of Jdeideh-Bouchrieh-Al-Sadd, led by Auguste Bachous, with whom he discussed road rehabilitation, pedestrian safety, and plans to transform the area's landfill into a sustainable coastal and tourist zone. In a separate meeting, Rasamny and former MP Emile Rahmeh discussed current national affairs and developmental concerns.

Lebanon will keep its airspace open, minister says

BEIRUT (Reuters) -Lebanon will aim to keep its airspace open, a minister said on Saturday, hours after officials said the airspace would be shut down in the evening amid Iran-Israel conflict. "The airport will remain open unless something emerges beyond our control," Lebanese Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny said while touring in Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport. The Middle East Airlines (MEA), Lebanese national carrier, will increase its flights to compensate the delayed flights, Rasamny said. Earlier, state news agency NNA cited the Lebanese Civil Aviation Authority as saying the country would temporarily reopen its airspace on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. (0700 GMT), and it would be shut down again from 10:30 p.m. till 6:00 a.m. on Sunday.

Minister of Public Works Fayez Rasamny in coordination with the Directorate of Civil Aviation, announced the reopening of Lebanese airspace at 10:00 am on Saturday. Rasamny expressed deep apologies to incoming and outgoing travelers, affirming that the decision and the exceptional measures accompanying it were imposed due to purely security-related necessities, and that the safety of passengers and airport facilities remains the top priority. In this context, Middle East Airlines (MEA) will reschedule its flights according to the new timing and will issue a detailed statement on the matter as soon as possible.

Public Works Minister Fayez Rasamny met at his office with Chargé d'Affaires of the Polish Embassy in Lebanon, Aleksandra Bukowska-McCabe, accompanied by Consul Aneta Ananicz. Rasamny later held talks with former Minister Ali Hamieh and a delegation of MPs from Baalbek-Hermel, Zahle, West Bekaa, and Jbeil. The delegation included MPs Hussein Hajj Hassan, Ghazi Zeaiter, Ihab Hamadeh, Yanal Solh, Melhem Al-Hajiri, Qabalan Qabalan, Rami Bou Hamdan, and Raed Berro. Discussions focused on regional development needs, especially road maintenance, and the ministry's budget plans for 2024 and 2025. Rasamny holds series of high-level meetings to bolster aviation safety, labor cooperation

NNA - Minister of Public Works and Transport, Fayez Rasamny, on Tuesday held a series of high-level meetings at his office focusing on aviation safety, diplomatic cooperation, and the rights of transport sector workers. In a key meeting dedicated to civil aviation, Minister Rasamny met with Middle East Airlines (MEA) Chairman Mohamad El Hout, Director General of Civil Aviation Engineer Amin Jaber, Head of the Civil Aviation Directorate Omar Qaddouha, and Airport President Kamal Nasreddine. The meeting reportedly focused on enhancing safety procedures and improving coordination mechanisms at Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport. Separately, the Minister received Japanese Ambassador to Lebanon, Magoshi Masayuki, for a wide-ranging discussion on local and international developments. Talks also explored avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in sectors under the Ministry's purview. Minister Rasamny also convened with a delegation from the General Labor Confederation (GLC), headed by its President Bechara Asmar and accompanied by GLC officials Shadi El Sayed and Khalil Zaiter. The meeting, attended by Director General of Land and Maritime Transport Dr. Ahmed Tamer, addressed challenges facing workers in ports, airports, and ground transportation.
