Body of a 70-year-old Green Bay man found in Fox River; Green Bay police investigating
The body of a 70-year-old Green Bay man was recovered July 1 from the Fox River near Leicht Memorial Park, according to the Green Bay Police Department. Police were notified around 4:20 p.m. about a body seen in the water. The body was removed from the water at 4:38 p.m. Police are investigating the death, but do not believe the public is in any danger. The identity of the man was not immediately released. This is the third body recovered from a Green Bay river since April, and the second one found in the Fox River. 14-year-old and 15-year-old arrested after stolen SUV crashes into a west-side Green Bay house
Two teenagers are in police custody after a two-vehicle crash involving a stolen SUV, which crashed into a home on Green Bay's west side, police say. According to the Green Bay Police Department, officers responded about 8 a.m. June 26 to a crash near the intersection of Thomas and Lark streets. Police discovered an SUV, which had been reported stolen that morning, had struck a parked SUV before crashing into a home in the 1200 block of Thomas Street. The crash caused "significant damage" to the house, police said. Witnesses said the SUV was speeding before the crash, with two people fleeing the scene on foot. About 30 minutes after the incident, police found and arrested a 15-year-old male with an active warrant, and a 14-year old male. Police said the 15-year-old is believed to be the driver and the 14-year-old the passenger. Both were transported to the Brown County Juvenile Detention Center. The two teenagers suffered nonlife-threatening injuries from the crash. No occupants of the home were reported to have sustained any injuries. Lambeau Field in Green Bay ranks 5th on sports fans' bucket list of experiences, survey says
Lambeau Field is on many sports fans' buckets lists for experiences, according to a new survey. A study from sports blog Deadspin ranked the Green Bay Packers home field as the fifth top bucket list experience for American sports fans. Wrigley Field in Chicago, Fenway Park in Boston, Yankee Stadium in New York, and Madison Square Garden in New York lead the list. Advertisement "It's the longest continuously used stadium in the NFL — a true cathedral of football. Catching a game at Lambeau means braving the 'frozen tundra' and soaking up the sight of thousands of proud fans rocking their signature cheesehead hats," Deadspin wrote when talking about Lambeau's ranking. Lambeau was one of four NFL stadiums that made the list, which included AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, and SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. According to the survey, five states chose Lambeau Field as its No. 1 bucket list sports destination — Colorado, Iowa, Mississippi, New Jersey and Tennessee. A survey was conducted by the research platform Prolific from May 15-17. It featured 2,000 respondents living in the United States, who also considered themselves sports fans. The survey was done online and aimed to find out which sports destinations people most wanted to visit in their lifetime, as well as sporting events that are on their bucket list. Green Bay Packers fans react on social media to team's early bye week, 2025 schedule
The NFL gave Green Bay Packers fans something new to talk about for the rest of the offseason when the 2025 NFL schedule was revealed May 14. Based on their opponents' 55.7% success rate in 2024, the Packers are tied for the fifth-toughest strength of schedule. Five of the Packers' last seven games are against teams who made the playoffs in 2024. One of the notable points on the schedule was the relatively early bye in Week 5. The last time the Packers had a bye week that early was the 2020 season. Advertisement Some fans on social media weren't huge fans of the early break. Multi-vehicle crash on State 441 causes major traffic backup, snarls traffic for two hours
(This story was updated to include new information.) A multi-vehicle crash snarled the morning commute for about two hours May 9 on State 441's northbound lanes. The crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. in Little Chute, just south of the Northland Avenue exit, according to Wisconsin State Patrol. Both lanes were initially closed, but were reopened by 9:30 a.m. Three days prior, on May 6, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation put out a notice warning drivers that, due to road construction on the overpasses over Interstate 41, detoured traffic would result in backups during peak travel hours this summer. State 441's northbound Northland Avenue exit was one of the areas they said would be affected. The other area expected to experience backups is the southbound I-41 exit for Richmond Street in Appleton. Peak driving hours are 7 to 8:30 a.m., and 4 to 6 p.m., according to WisDOT.
