Qatar-Saudi trade surges 65% in 2024 to reach $1.35bn

Trade between Qatar and Saudi Arabia rose sharply in 2024, with volume increasing by 65 per cent year-on-year to reach QR 4.9bn ($1.35bn), up from QR 2.97bn ($818m) in 2023, according to Qatar Chamber. The announcement was made by Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba, Second Vice President of Qatar Chamber, during a meeting in Doha with a high-level delegation from the Al-Ahsa Chamber of Commerce, led by Chairman Mohamed bin Abdulaziz Al Afaleq. The meeting focused on strengthening private sector cooperation between the two countries, particularly targeting joint ventures and investment opportunities in the Al-Ahsa region. Qatar-Saudi trade Al Athba emphasised the importance of expanding partnerships between Qatari and Saudi businesses to support sustainable economic development aligned with the National Vision 2030 of both nations. He also highlighted the Chamber's ongoing commitment to fostering closer economic ties under the leadership of both countries. Chairman Al Afaleq echoed this sentiment, praising the deep-rooted fraternal ties and encouraging collaborative efforts between the two business communities to drive regional economic integration. He extended an invitation to Qatari investors to visit Al-Ahsa and explore the investment potential of the Al-Ahsa Oasis, one of the largest natural oases in the world. The session included a presentation on Qatar's investment environment and concluded with bilateral meetings between Qatari and Saudi business leaders to explore future trade alliances and cooperative opportunities.

Doha: Qatar Chamber revealed that trade volume between the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia saw a 65 percent increase YoY in 2024, reaching QR 4.9 billion in 2024, compared to QR 2.97 billion in 2023. This came in a speech delivered by the Chamber's Second Vice President Rashid bin Hamad Al Athba, during his meeting today with a delegation from the Al-Ahsa Chamber of Commerce in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, headed by its Chairman, Mohamed bin Abdulaziz Al Afaleq. The meeting explored ways to enhance cooperation between the two chambers, aiming to strengthen collaboration between the private sectors of both countries, particularly in Al-Ahsa. Addressing the meeting, HE Al Athba affirmed the Qatar Chamber's keenness to strengthen cooperation between the business sectors of the two brotherly countries. He emphasized the importance of enhancing partnerships between Qatari and Saudi businessmen, exploring available investment opportunities, particularly in the Al-Ahsa, and examining the potential for establishing joint ventures that contribute to boosting bilateral trade and achieving sustainable economic development. He underscored the strong and deeply rooted relations both countries, noting that economic and trade ties are witnessing continuous growth, especially under the wise guidance of both leaderships and their shared commitment to fostering cooperation in all fields, particularly in economic and investment areas. He also urged Qatari and Saudi investors and companies to explore investment opportunities in both markets, with a particular focus on value-added sectors that support sustainable economic development in line with the National Vision 2030 of both countries. Al-Athba reaffirmed the Qatar Chamber's support for all initiatives aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two chambers, expressing hope for increased coordination and joint efforts to better serve the business communities in both countries. For his part, Mohamed Al-Afaleq, Chairman of the Al-Ahsa Chamber, underscored the deep-rooted fraternal and historical relations between the two brotherly nations, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts by the private sectors in both countries to achieve economic integration. He affirmed the Al-Ahsa Chamber's keenness to strengthen cooperation with the Qatar Chamber and to work collaboratively to deepen ties between the business communities in Qatar and Al-Ahsa, while encouraging investors to explore mutual investment opportunities. He also commended the Qatari-Saudi Joint Business Council for its pivotal role in enhancing cooperation between the private sectors of both countries. Al-Afaleq invited the Qatar Chamber to organize a business visit for Qatari businessmen to Al-Ahsa to explore the promising investment opportunities available in the Al-Ahsa Oasis. About 80% growth in trade exchange between Qatar and Malaysia

Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Chamber participated in the ASEAN-GCC-China Economic Forum held yesterday, in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur. The Chamber's delegation was headed by Rashid bin Hamad Al-Athba, Second Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, and included Eng. Ali bin Abdul Latif Al-Misnad and Nasser bin Suleiman Al-Haidar, both members of the Board. The forum featured working sessions focused on driving investment in ASEAN and GCC countries, the impact of artificial intelligence on various sectors, enhancing investments between ASEAN, the GCC, and China, accelerating strategic investments in the energy sector across the ASEAN region, and promoting strategic growth in the energy and logistics sectors. On the sidelines of the forum, Rashid bin Hamad Al-Athba, Second Vice Chairman of Qatar Chamber, met with H E Dato Amin Abdullah, Minister of Finance and Economy of the Sultanate of Brunei. During the meeting, they discussed areas of mutual cooperation and ways to strengthen ties with the Brunei Chamber of Commerce and Industry, including the signing of agreements in this regard. Al-Athba also met with Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia, where they discussed trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and ways to enhance mutual investments. In press remarks on the sidelines of the forum, Rashid bin Hamad Al-Athba emphasized the aspiration of the private sector in Qatar and GCC countries to strengthen cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), noting that ASEAN is one of the fastest-growing economic regions in the world. It enjoys a strategic location along global trade routes and a growing economy, with a population of approximately 690 million—factors highly valued by Gulf investors when considering global expansion and increasing their presence in Southeast Asia. He pointed to the strong economic and trade relations between the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Malaysia, which have witnessed significant growth in recent years. Malaysia is considered one of Qatar's key trading partners in Southeast Asia, with bilateral trade volume reached QR5.2bn in 2024, compared to QR2.9bn in 2023, marking an 80% increase.
