HYROX Delhi tested us in unexpected ways: Riyan Parag
New Delhi, July 20 (UNI) If HYROX Mumbai set the benchmark, HYROX Delhi took it several notches higher. The iconic Yashobhoomi (India International Convention and Expo Center) came alive this morning as 2,600 participants converged to push their mental and physical boundaries at HYROX Delhi, India's second edition of the world's fastest-growing fitness race. The electric atmosphere amped up as top cricketers Riyan Parag, Harshal Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, and Anuj Rawat teamed up for the relay—pushing their limits in a format that was as intense as it was exhilarating. 'Being part of the HYROX event in Delhi was a whole new kind of adrenaline rush. As cricketers, we are used to pushing our limits in training and on the field, but this experience tested us in unexpected ways. Teaming up with Harshal, Ravi, and Anuj for the relay was an absolute blast — full of camaraderie, friendly competition, and a lot of learning. Events like these, where sport meets community and culture, are so important in today's fitness space. I am really glad I got to be part of it,' said PUMA athlete and cricketer Riyan Parag. Part of the global HYROX season, the Delhi race witnessed a whopping 62% increase in participants compared to the inaugural edition in Mumbai, underlining the virality of the format. Racers from across India and 39 countries took to the custom-built arena to complete the standard HYROX format: 8 x 1km runs interspersed with 8 functional workouts such as SkiErg, Sled Push, Sled Pull, Burpee Broad Jumps, Rowing, Farmer's Carry, Sandbag Lunges and Wall Balls. Cricketer Ravi Bishnoi said, 'Being part of the PUMA all-star team at HYROX Delhi was a unique experience, tough, intense, and incredibly satisfying. It gave me a new perspective on endurance and body control, which directly connects with how I train for cricket. Love the PUMA x HYROX gear that was launched recently, it is definitely made for high-intensity athletes. I am happy to have been part of an event that celebrates the strength and commitment of athletes in an inspiring way,' added cricketer Ravi Bishnoi. With participants from every corner of India and beyond, from 16-year-old Shrey Dabral of Dehradun to 66-year-old Ramakrishnan Sankaran from Delhi, HYROX Delhi was a living, breathing showcase of how fitness is evolving into a deeply personal, yet powerfully communal pursuit. Sharing his experience, Cricketer Harshal Patel said, 'I really enjoyed the HYROX Delhi event and how it brought together fitness, competition, and camaraderie in one space. As someone who is constantly working on conditioning and recovery as part of my cricket journey, this was a great test. It is great to be part of PUMA because they understand what an athlete across levels needs to give their best performance.' Spectators witnessed everything from first-time racers discovering their limits to seasoned fitness enthusiasts chasing personal bests. The participants powered through wall balls, gritted their way through sandbag lunges, and crossed the finish line with emotion written across every face. 'For me, HYROX Delhi was not just a fitness challenge, it was a mindset reset. Competing in that environment, surrounded by passionate athletes, really reminded me of the joy of pushing your own boundaries. Whether it was intense runs or strength workouts, the four of us had a great time. It is great to see brands like PUMA championing such events and redefining how we look at fitness in sport,' cricketer Anuj Rawat concluded. UNI RKM

IPL 2025: Key Takeaways For The Super Giants
1 2 3 As the dust settles on IPL 2025, the underwhelming show of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) makes it amply clear that tournaments are not won on the auction table. Despite having what looked like one of the most balanced squads after the auction, the team failed to make it to the playoffs for the second year in a row. So, what went wrong? Team balance, planning, and performance are weighed in gold before auctions and all the picks are based on these factors. The team had ticked all the right boxes, but when they took the field, many of the above factors didn't go according to the plans. Lightning struck when the entire fast bowling unit ran aground. The complete absence of Mohsin Khan, the near absence of Mayank Yadav, and even Akashdeep and Avesh Khan being available in parts, completely derailed the coach's plan. If it was not enough, bad form hit most of the remaining fit squad, the most affected being captain Rishabh Pant, leggie Ravi Bishnoi and 'Killer' Miller. In fact, Mitch Marsh, Nicholas Pooran, Digvesh Rathi and Aiden Markram were the only in-form players who played crucial roles in the team's six wins. Much was expected from captain Rishabh Pant, the costliest player ever in IPL history. But, despite a century and a half century, his overall impact was underwhelming. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Killer New Dodge Ram 1500 Is Utter Perfection (Take A Look) SocialGazette Undo One big knock may have rescued his season average but did little to lift the team. Expert opinions vary but one bad season does not determine mettle. In the vacuum left by the depleted bowling strength, young Digvesh Rathi emerged as a bright spot — economical, wicket-taking, and energetic. He showed signs of a long-term asset, provided he matures both in skill and temperament. It will be interesting to see how he faces the second season blues which usually budding spinners see when their bowling has been seen through a season with gigabytes of analysis on it. LSG's journey can be split into two contrasting halves: on one side, individual brilliance by a few foreign stars; on the other, collective failure of the Indian backbone. The team won six matches — commendable, considering their handicaps — but it was never enough to take them to the knockout round. Mitchell Marsh had a standout season with 627 runs, placing him among the league's top scorers. Pooran and Markram also crossed the 500-run mark with multiple fifties. But David Miller failed to live up to his reputation. Among Indian players, Ayush Badoni was modest, Abdul Samad fell short, and Ravi Bishnoi became a cautionary tale of early overhype. Despite having seasoned professionals, especially Zaheer Khan at the helm, the team's planning couldn't completely see the light of execution. Which brings us to a moot point that should a UP-based franchise invest more in local talent or coaches? The lack of grassroots connection might be costing the team dear. An assistant coach to act as a pillar for the bridge will be mighty useful. Lucknow, apart from Ahmedabad, is the only ground with pitches offering a variety of red, black and red-black mix soil. With three variants to exploit as per strength, Gujarat Titans made good use of it and showed their prowess of home strength in the season. LSG, on the other hand, missed the trick and were always vulnerable at home. This could be one such front on which local support staff with more inroads into the local relationships and connects might be handy. There are so many available options which can be considered for their thinking prowess and analytical ability with familiarity of local conditions. Piyush Chawla, Kaif, RP Singh are just a few names which come to mind to bring in this missing strength to LSG. As far as the coaching goes, mentor Zaheer redeemed himself from the grime around him despite having limited resources. So, what are the lessons for the team for the season? · IPL success isn't bought at the auction table; it's earned with consistency, strategy, and chemistry · Selection should be driven by recent form and fitness, rather than brand value · Fitness should be given top priority, especially for the pace attack · Some local connect should be integrated within the game plan and ground strategy · It's time for an honest reflection. It was a do-or-die match for LSG, but SRH, who are already eliminated, came out with a strong performance to spoil their hopes. LSG knocked out of IPL 2025 playoffs Abhishek Sharma was the star of the night with a stunning 59 off just 20 balls. He smashed six sixes, including four in a row off Ravi Bishnoi, to give SRH a flying start while chasing a big total of 206. Mitchell Marsh (65 off 39) and Aiden Markram (61 off 38) earlier played superb knocks to help LSG post 205/7. But the total wasn't enough as SRH chased it down comfortably with Heinrich Klaasen (47) and Kamindu Mendis (32) finishing the job for the side. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD It was yet another disappointing outing for LSG captain Rishabh Pant, who scored just 7 runs and has struggled throughout the season despite being the most expensive player in the history of the league. LSG's campaign has now ended in disappointment with two matches to go. More from First Cricket IPL 2025: How can LSG qualify for playoffs with just one spot remaining MI vs DC clash turns into virtual quarterfinal Meanwhile, this result has made the upcoming Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals clash on 21 May a virtual quarterfinal. MI are currently 4th on the points table with 14 points, and DC are right behind them with 13. The winner of that match will have a strong chance to make it to the playoffs. Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Punjab Kings have already qualified for the playoffs. They are now playing to decide who will take the top two spots and secure the Qualifier 1 match. Delhi Capitals are currently going through a rough patch and need to bounce back quickly if they want to grab the last remaining playoff spot. Led by Axar Patel, DC had a strong start to the season with back-to-back wins, but a slump in the middle has now left them in a tight spot. Mumbai Indians, meanwhile, have staged an impressive turnaround after losing four of their first five games. They found form just in time and have looked like serious playoff contenders. Although they lost their last match to GT, MI will be hoping to move past that setback and build on the momentum from their recent winning run.
