Greater Noida set to get 16 more community halls

Noida: A total of 16 new community centres are set to come up across Greater Noida. Work for the same is underway at 12 locations so far, and construction will begin shortly at four other locations. The total cost of the project was pegged at Rs 25 crore. GNIDA CEO Ravi Kumar NG had previously directed the project department to construct new community centres in areas where none exist and to repair those that are already in place but have become dilapidated. Kumar also told officials to ensure that the construction is completed within the stipulated time-frame so that residents can begin using the facilities without delay. According to general manager (project) AK Singh, these centres are currently being developed in sectors Omicron 1A, Xu 1, Xu 2, Xu 3, Eta 1, Zeta 1, Delta 3, Sector 37, Sector 36, Pi 1, Swarn Nagari, and Chipiyana Buzurg. In addition, construction of community centres in Sector 3, Sirsa, Dadha, and Luksar will begin soon," he said. The centres are designed to be two-storey buildings. The ground floor will include a lobby, party hall, kitchen, store, one room, and separate toilets for men and women, while the first floor will house a lobby, library, and additional toilets. Each community centre will also provide parking space for around 50 vehicles. Community centres are essential public spaces where residents can organise events such as weddings, engagements, birthday parties, and cultural programmes. They are also used by Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) and local authorities for meetings and gatherings. Devendra Tiger, president of Greater Noida's Federation of RWAs, welcomed the move, saying that residents have long demanded community centres in these sectors. "In the absence of such facilities, people were forced to go elsewhere to organise functions. If this is finally happening, we welcome it," Tiger said. He added that the centres' management should be entrusted to the RWAs, who can also take responsibility for their upkeep. Greater Noida has about 30 sectors and over 100 villages, however, only a few sectors like Beta 1, Gamma 1, Alpha 1, Alpha 2, P3, Delta 1, and Delta 2 have community centres at the moment.

Diversions kick in for six-lane underpass to decongest Gaur Chowk

Noida: Vehicles travelling from Bisrakh and Surajpur to Noida have been restricted to the service lane on Greater Noida West Road as excavation on the carriageway began for a six-lane underpass near the congested Gaur Chowk. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The 700-metre underpass, which is to run parallel to the Taj Highway, will allow vehicles coming from Surajpur to bypass the daily bottlenecks at Char Murti roundabout, also called Gaur Chowk, by connecting Greater Noida directly with Gaur City and Delhi-Meerut Expressway ahead. Greater Noida Authority CEO Ravi Kumar NG told TOI that a key section of the carriageway has now been blocked due to digging at the main intersection for the underpass. "Traffic from Bisrakh towards Noida will now use the service lane and then turn left towards Parthala. Commuters heading to Delhi-Meerut Expressway and Gaur City will have to take a left and then a U-turn to proceed. There are no restrictions for people travelling from Noida to Ek Murti Chowk ahead via the Gaur Chowk as the rotary has not been blocked," he said. More diversions are expected on the Taj Highway as the work progresses in the coming days, the official said. The Rs 92-crore project is expected to be ready in 18 months. Of the total length, 350 metres will stretch on either side of the roundabout. The underpass is among the several infrastructure projects undertaken by UP govt in the region, including Noida expressway bypass, Chilla Elevated Road and a flyway linking Ek Murti Chowk to DME, which are on the drawing boards anticipating heavy traffic movement in the area once the Noida airport becomes functional. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Gaur Chowk, a central traffic node in Greater Noida West, a housing hub accommodating over five lakh residents. The six-lane road, already under pressure from traffic pouring in from Noida, Surajpur, Crossings Republik, and the DME. While the Parthala flyover, inaugurated in 2023 on the Vikas Marg-FNG Expressway junction, eased bottlenecks at Parthala Chowk, it shifted the snarls towards Gaur Chowk. Over the years, traffic cops have tried to ease tailbacks by blocking two arms of the rotary and creating two U-turns, about 500 metres away from the intersection. However, with traffic volume increasing continuously, those measures proved inadequate. With more traffic restrictions likely over the next few months before the underpass is ready, motorists fear daily bottlenecks in the area. "While diversions are necessary, they're already causing traffic jams during peak hours. There's also dust pollution, as the contractor isn't following NGT's dust control guidelines," Amarjeet Rathore, a Gaur City resident, said. Meanwhile, despite traffic diversions, a number of bikers were seen plying on the wrong side of the service lane. Ecovillage 1 resident Manish Kumar said, "There was already traffic pressure due to diversion, and now people driving on the wrong side are further worsening the problem. Cops should be deployed in the area to check these violations."

Underpass work at Gaur Chowk begins, traffic diverted; residents complain of jams, dust

The project, costing approximately Rs 92 crore, will directly connect Greater Noida with Gaur City and the DME, bypassing the heavily congested Gaur Chowk. NOIDA: Traffic diversions were implemented at Gaur Chowk as the construction of a six-lane underpass parallel to the Taj Highway gathered momentum. Due to excavation work on the main carriageway of the Greater Noida West road—which connects Bisrakh/Surajpur to Gaur Chowk—Greater Noida Authority and traffic police diverted vehicles to the adjacent service lanes. Now, traffic from Bisrakh towards Noida must use the service lane and then turn left towards Parthala. Commuters heading to the Delhi-Meerut Expressway (DME) and Gaur City will have to take a left and then a U-turn to proceed. However, people travelling from Noida to Ek Murti via Gaur Chowk and vice versa can navigate as the rotary is not blocked. The 700 m long underpass, running parallel to the 60-metre road, is designed to connect Greater Noida directly with Gaur City and the DME, allowing vehicles to bypass Gaur Chowk altogether. Of the total length, 350 metres will stretch on either side of the Chowk. The estimated cost of the project is around Rs 92 crore, and the project timeline is set for one and a half years. Ravi Kumar NG, CEO of Greater Noida Authority, said the digging at the main intersection for underpass work began. 'A key section of the carriageway is now blocked for construction, with traffic being diverted to service lanes,' he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Esta nueva alarma con cámara es casi regalada en Rosario (ver precio) Verisure Undo Similar diversions are expected on the Taj Highway as the work progresses in the coming days. Gaur Chowk, also known as Char Murti, is a central traffic node in Greater Noida West, a housing hub accommodating over five lakh residents. The six-lane road, already under pressure from traffic pouring in from Noida, Surajpur, Crossings Republik, and the DME, has long struggled with congestion. While the Parthala flyover, inaugurated in 2023 on the Vikas Marg-FNG Expressway junction, eased bottlenecks at Parthala Chowk, it only shifted the problem further ahead toward Gaur Chowk. The traffic police attempted to control the situation by blocking two arms of the rotary and creating two U-turns 500 metres away from the intersection. Manish Kumar , a resident of Supertech Eco Village, said that while traffic diversion is in place, a number of bikers and cyclists were seen plying on the wrong side of this service lane. 'There is already traffic pressure due to diversion. People driving on the wrong side is further worsening the problem,' he said. He also mentioned that there is roadside dust on the service lanes, creating problems for commuters.

Greater Noida plans 4km elevated road to DME

Noida: Greater Noida Authority has unveiled its plans for a 4km elevated road linking Ek Murti Chowk in Greater Noida West with NH-9 via Shahberi and Crossings Republik, for seamless connectivity between Greater Noida, Greater Noida West, Ghaziabad and Delhi via the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. The 8km stretch, which is dotted by condominiums, turns into a daily gridlock, one extending till the DME, with hundreds of vehicles commuting between the NCR cities. The snarls are only expected to worsen on the key link road once Noida International Airport becomes operational later this year. Earlier this month, Greater Noida Authority widened a three-kilometre stretch between Iteda roundabout and Crossings Republik via Shahberi to ease congestion in the area. An underpass is also under construction on the Taj Expressway near Gaur Chowk in the area. Greater Noida Authority board that approved the Rs 400-crore elevated road project in March has approached NHAI for executing the project and allocated funds for the detailed project report that is expected to take another 4-5 months. The road is proposed to have six lanes and start from Ek Murti roundabout in Greater Noida West's Sector 4 on the 130-metre-wide road, cross Shahberi and Ghaziabad's Crossings Republik, and connect with the Delhi-Meerut Expressway and NH-9. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Switch to UnionBank Rewards Card UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo "Greater Noida West and Crossings Republik in Ghaziabad are hubs of high-rise apartments, but poor connectivity between the two cities causes daily traffic jams on this stretch. Traffic is expected to worsen as more people move into new housing projects. The elevated road is expected to benefit commuters travelling to and from Greater Noida, and also those commuting to Noida airport in Jewar," Greater Noida CEO Ravi Kumar NG. According to an estimate, the population in the area will reach 15 to 20 lakhs in the next 10 years. The board has classified it as a regional connectivity road and proposed a funding collaboration between GNIDA, Noida Authority, and YEIDA. Sources, however, told TOI that Noida and Yamuna Authority could be reluctant to finance a project within GNIDA's jurisdiction. The elevated road is one of the many connectivity projects in the region, like Noida expressway bypass and Chilla Elevated Road, which are on the drawing boards, anticipating heavy traffic movement once the Noida airport becomes functional.

Greater Noida to seize T-Series land to build road

Greater Noida The Greater Noida authority on Thursday said it has decided to invoke the urgency clause to acquirefour hectares land for a 1.5km road project pending for 15 years, which aims to connect LG Chowk on Kasna Road with Knowledge Park 3, after the landowner, music and film producer T-Series, refused to part with the land. The urgency clause of the Land Acquisition Act allows the government to take immediate possession of land needed for public purposes if an urgent situation exists, bypassing normal acquisition process. 'The road connecting LG Chowk with Knowledge Park needs to be urgently built and we cannot afford to wait any longer. Traffic in the area is set to increase because the Noida Airport will open soon. The road will decongest other city roads, benefiting commuters in Greater Noida, Noida and those travelling towards the Yamuna Expressway,' said Ravi Kumar NG, chief executive officer of the Greater Noida authority. The project was first mooted in 2010 but was delayed because of resistance from T-Series. The four hectares needed for the road is part of 80 hectares of land owned by T-Series. The authority wants all 80 hectares for developmental purposes but T-Series wants to keep 76 hectares, and only wants to give up the four hectares needed for the road. T-Series bought the land from farmers in 1987 before the Greater Noida authority came into existence. According to the rules, without the approval of the building map from the Greater Noida authority, no one can build any project or use the land for industrial, commercial or any other purpose. T-Series has been resisting the acquisition because it wants permission to use the land for its own purposes, which the Greater Noida authority has refused. 'We are ready to give four hectares land required for the road project. But we request that the remaining land must be given to us for industrial purposes because we had bought the land in 1987 before the Greater Noida authority came into existence in 1992,' said a T-Series spokesperson. On Thursday, the authority said it plans to complete the land acquisition process as soon as possible and deposit the land cost in the additional district magistrate's office. According to officials, the land cost is ₹3,100 per sqm. Once the authority gets the land, it will build the road within two to three months. The budget for the road project is ₹31 crore, said officials. The road is currently only half-finished, with three lanes built from Knowledge Park to LG Chowk. The other half of three lanes from LG Chowk to Knowledge Park have yet to be built.
