‘At least I didn't kill anyone': Socialite Vanessa Jacobs Fennell's comment after car crash and alleged assault revealed in court

An alleged drunk-driving Sydney socialite who is accused of assaulting a police officer after crashing her luxury Range Rover into a Tesla reportedly said 'at least I didn't kill anyone,' court documents have revealed. The case of Vanessa Jacobs Fennell returned to court on Monday, months after her arrest in Bellevue Hill in Sydney's east on March 21. The 54-year-old was charged with refusing to submit to breath analysis, assaulting police in the execution of duty, and failing to provide details to the owners of damaged property. Fennell allegedly crashed her Range Rover SUV into several parked cars on Riddell St before a good Samaritan reminded her that the vehicle had two flat tyres and was badly damaged. When police arrived, the mother-of-two was allegedly 'uncooperative' and denied being behind the wheel of the car. Police allege her roadside breath test returned a positive result and she became 'agitated' when they tried to arrest her. She allegedly slapped a police officer and laughed about it, court documents revealed. 'She showed no remorse for her actions,' police said. Court documents also stated she then said: 'Well, at least I didn't kill anyone.' Fennell pleaded guilty in May to all four charges but is seeking to have the matters dealt with under mental health provisions. She is due to appear at Waverley Local Court again on August 12. Fennell, who was once shortlisted to be on the Real Housewives of Sydney, was married to private banker Tom Fennell but the couple split about five years ago.

NewsWire / Nikki Short Credit: News Corp Australia Fennell – who was previously short-listed to appear on the second season of controversial reality show Real Housewives of Sydney in 2023 – pleaded guilty last month to all four charges, but is seeking to have the matters dealt with under mental health provisions of the law. She did not appear in Waverley Local Court on Monday where her matter was briefly mentioned. Her lawyer Helen Christinson asked the court for a further date for a report to be prepared. Court documents seen by NewsWire revealed bystanders called police shortly after Fennell was stopped by a good Samaritan on a road in Bellevue Hill who informed her that her car was 'severely damaged' and had two flat tyres. When police arrived, Fennell was 'uncooperative', and initially denied being the driver of the damaged Range Rover. While being arrested, the socialite became 'highly agitated', before slapping the police officer and resisting arrest, the documents state. ‘Real Housewives' bring the drama to our doorstep

Pictured while filming in Queenstown last winter are some of the Real Housewives of Sydney cast, from left, Kate Adams, Martine Chippendale, Victoria Montano and Terry Biviano. PHOTO: SUPPLIED Queenstown's taken a starring role in the latest season of reality TV show The Real Housewives of Sydney. Renowned for their glamour — and drama — the cast, by all accounts, flew under the radar when they visited the resort last winter, staying at Eichardt's — including its 240 square metre penthouse, which runs about $10,000 a night. While here, some of the women took a scenic chopper ride with Heliworks, including a mountain-top landing and obligatory glass of bubbles, were frequent visitors to Ayrburn — described in the show as "Queenstown's Culinary Playground" — had exclusive access to Tommy's Margarita Bar, got their adrenaline fix at Oxbow Adventures, sampled the fare at The Bathhouse, and a couple partook in tequila shots via Queenstown Ice Bar's "chilly willy". Former model Krissy Marsh tells Mountain Scene she also "snuck out" on their first night and went to Cowboys. "I had bull shots and partied with all the crew, and I got on the bucking bull. "That was a lot of fun — they didn't put that on the show, though." Marsh rates Queenstown's culinary offering as "the best food that we had basically throughout the whole season", while she's also impressed with our wines and describes the scenery as "breathtaking". But there were also "huge dramas" while here, something Marsh says she gets sick of. "When someone is nasty or someone does something to upset you, you still have to confront them and be with them the next day. "A lot of us are in the same social circles and we have genuine friendships, and that's healing for me." Now in her third season, though, Marsh says the overall experience has been "nothing but positive" for her.

Real Housewives of Sydney's Caroline Gaultier speaks out on 'media smear campaign' following fiery season three reunion

Caroline Gaultier has alleged she was the target of a 'smear campaign' instigated by two castmates ahead of the Real Housewives of Sydney reunion. The season three reunion, which is streaming now on Binge, saw a simmering feud between Gaultier and fellow housewives Terry Biviano and Kate Adams turn vicious. Behind the scenes, the Sydney-based socialite and former model claimed the animosity between the cast bubbled over into the tabloid media, with cast members allegedly planting stories against each other. Gaultier told she has faced legal threats and been the target of hit pieces in the press. "They tried to sue me (and) had a plan to take everybody down," she said. In April, the Daily Mail ran a story claiming Gaultier had been axed from a cast trip to New Zealand due to 'volatile behaviour'. The story also claimed Gaultier flung a stiletto at a producer during production of the season three finale, an allegation the ex-model has emphatically denied. 'It's heartbreaking when you develop friendships and they turn,' she said. '(The stiletto story) never happened.' The mum-of-two told that the Daily Mail did not reach out for comment before running the hit piece. Gaultier revealed that the reason she was suddenly axed from the New Zealand cast trip was because Adams filed a "woke" HR complaint over a 'non-consenting' hug. A mystified Gaultier claimed that she was goaded by producers to reconcile with Adams before being slapped with the humiliating HR claim. 'I was packed and ready (for New Zealand) and then she filed a case for a hug without consent,' she said. Castmate Krissy Marsh has publicly corroborated Gaultier's version of events. 'I can 100 stand by the fact producers asked you (Gaultier) to make up with Kate,' Marsh wrote via Instagram. 'You said a hug fixes everything and when you did that to Kate she went to HR and put in a complaint.' The Real Housewives of Sydney originally went to air on Foxtel's Arena channel in 2017 but did not return for a second season, allegedly due to the viciousness of the fighting. Six years later, Binge picked up the series for a revival that promised to steer the show in a more aspirational direction in line with the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. 'We were told they were taking a new angle, there was no way we would have signed on if it was like the first season,' Gaultier said. But the up-market rebrand was short lived and season three noticeably saw the reality series revert to its darker roots. Gaultier attributed the shift to the return of a producer who had worked on the infamous first season. She also thinks that the show's message about offering a humorous glimpse into the glamorous lives of Sydney's elite has been lost. 'The clickbait became more important than the show,' she said. 'This is Housewives, not Fortnite.' Worse, she left the set in November feeling a complete lack of resolution between the women. 'There's beauty in resolving and fixing the problem to inspire the viewers,' she said. 'The disappointing thing was that nobody stood up and said the truth.' The update comes after the Daily Telegraph revealed production company Matchbox Pictures is working behind the scenes on a spin-off series — Real Housewives Ultimate Girls' Trip — that would combine cast members from the Sydney and Melbourne shows. 'I would have to think long and hard about coming back again,' Gaultier said. "There is no chance of us signing back on if it includes certain cast members." The Real Housewives franchise began with The Real Housewives of Orange County in 2006 on the Bravo network and has grown to include more than ten American cities and about 24 international locations. asked Kate Adams and production company Matchbox Pictures to comment on the accusations, but did not receive a response by time of publication.

Real Housewives of Sydney reunion dramas explode online

Real Housewives of Sydney fans, her fellow cast members and even the show's reunion host Osher Gunsberg have expressed their frustration that Housewife Nicole O'Neill did not show up for her second reunion in a row – but she insists all is not as it seems. Fans were shocked to discover that O'Neill, who missed last year's reunion episode due to a family commitment and skipped many on-screen activities during this season, would once more miss the show's pivotal reunion episode, available to stream from today on BINGE and Foxtel. O'Neill cops a walloping in the reunion but she has fiercely defended her actions, publicly airing email communications with Real Housewives producers and sharing her side of the story on her website overnight. The online drama comes amid a particularly fiery reunion, which ended with several members of the cast conceding the divisions in the group may be beyond repair. Nicole dials in as Osher twists the knife Reunion host Osher Gunsberg noted O'Neill's absence at the top of the show, explaining that she would join via videolink from London shortly. O'Neill's arch nemesis Terry Biviano called her absence 'convenient,' while Victoria Montano was keen to point out that O'Neill had offered to fly back for the reunion – an assertion Gunsberg quickly shut down. 'Well, the facts are, Victoria, that yes she did offer to fly back. There was a budget for that. It was economy class, and that was not acceptable [to her].' And Osher twisted the knife later in the show as O'Neill joined the cast from her London hotel room. 'I didn't think you'd want to miss a reunion … again,' he said pointedly. 'There was an offer to fly you back, but economy class isn't for you?' Stream The Real Housewives of Sydney on BINGE, available on Hubbl. O'Neill explained it just wasn't feasible to fly home to Sydney when she had pre-existing business commitments in London. After castmate Kate Adams complained she didn't think Nicole had 'pulled her weight' this season, Osher asked her: 'Nicole, you willingly signed up for this show again – do you feel like you showed up for it?' 'I feel like I showed up when I could. It was a bit more complicated than what I can explain right now,' she said. After Biviano dubbed that an 'excuse,' Nicole delivered what would be her final words for the season: 'You're a bitter, bitter old woman, Terry.' Nicole puts the show on blast O'Neill told her side of the story online overnight, posting screenshots of emails with Real Housewives ' production team that appeared to show she had flagged she wouldn't be available for the reunion some six months in advance. O'Neill posted several emails dated from April 2024 in which producers on the show gave some possible reunion filming dates – and Nicole then flagging that she'd be unavailable for at least one of the potential filming dates due to overseas travel. She went into more detail in a blog post on her website overnight. 'I didn't skip it. I didn't storm off. I didn't have cold feet,' she insisted. 'When I signed my contract for the season, the reunion date was locked in. I planned everything around it – work, personal commitments, and yes, even travel. But at the eleventh hour, the date was changed. Unfortunately, by then I was already booked, packed, and set to be in London. This wasn't a spontaneous trip – these dates had been in my schedule for over a year, and production was aware of them,' she claimed. A bitter end – and an uncertain future The reunion ended on an especially sour note, with conflict between Caroline Gaultier and her Housewives allies-turned-enemies Terry Biviano and Kate Adams coming to a head. Gaultier labelled her adversaries 'evil' and called Kate a 'thug in heels,' declaring: 'Once again, nothing is resolved, I want to go home, and I never want to see these two for the rest of my life.' After the two warring parties had hurled abuse at each other, Gunsberg tried to wrap up the reunion by asking where the group could go from here. Even cast peacemaker Sally Obermeder had to concede that things weren't looking good. 'Is there hope for this group of friends?' Gunsberg asked her. 'In my new era of not sitting on the fence? Not really,' she admitted with a shrug. And it appears the drama continued even as the cameras stopped rolling – as the other cast members headed back to their dressing rooms, cameras captured Gaultier fuming to a producer that her experience had been 'disgusting,' she 'didn't even get to say what [she] wanted to say' and asking why she'd bothered turning up at all.
