People Are Just Learning "White Hot" Hot Dogs Are Real Because Of This Viral Clip
Let's talk hot dogs and Upstate New York. Even though, in my opinion, this is more of a Western New York thing. People in the replies are like what the heck are you even talking about! As this person said, "I don't know this language." Well, this piqued the curiousty of non-Western NYers who started looking up this elusive white dog. "I was TODAY when i found out white hotdogs exist," this person wrote. And another commented, "I didn't even know what a white hotdog was until now." Well, let me break it down for you. "White Hots" and "Red Hots" are popular slang terms for hot dogs in the Rochester, New York area. A white hot dog is an uncured, unsmoked hot dog made from a blend of pork, beef, and veal. The hot dog is white because of the uncured meat. Zweigles is a popular brand in Rochester, and on their website, they say, "Anything essentially goes [with a white hot], but the Rochester tradition includes meat, hot sauce, mustard, and chopped onion." In contrast, a red hot dog is the traditional cured and smoked hot dog which has a reddish color. Zweigles says, "'Red Hot' is a slang term coined by Rochester natives to differentiate from 'White Hots' in color. After all, any proper Rochesterian host or hostess entertaining you for a backyard BBQ will offer both options to guests." So, there you have it. Upstate New York (Western New York to me!) is a strange place with strong opinions on hot dogs. As this person said, "One of each is the only correct answer."

McCormick Heats Up Consumer Sales in Q2
After multiple quarters of solid results, Flavor Solutions revenue declined on weak volume and currency pressures. Consumer sales were up 3%, driven by both volume and product mix. GAAP earnings were down modestly, while operating income was up and adjusted net income was flat. 10 stocks we like better than McCormick › Here's our initial take on McCormick's (NYSE: MKC) fiscal 2025 second-quarter results. Metric Q2 FY24 Q2 FY25 Change vs. Expectations Revenue $1.64 billion $1.66 billion +1.2% Met Earnings per share (Adj) $0.69 $0.69 unch. Beat Operating income $234.1 million $245.8 million 5% n/a Gross margin 37.7% 37.5% -20 bps n/a Spice, flavorings, and seasonings giant McCormick -- and also the company behind Frank's Red Hot and Cholula hot sauces -- continues to navigate a challenging market, and positioning itself to better manage increased tariffs and the potential implications for consumers, with a second quarter that wasn't amazing, but also showed some positive signs. Overall net revenue was up about 1% year over year, but unlike in prior quarters, it wasn't the company's flavor solutions segment that was doing the heavy lifting. That segment was actually weaker, with revenue down 1%. Realized prices were up 1%, but volume was down 1%, and foreign exchange knocked another 1% off the revenue top line. Things were better in the consumer segment, which is larger and more profitable. Revenue was up 3%, driven by 3% growth in organic sales, along with solid volumes and product mix. While net income was down 4% on a GAAP basis and adjusted earnings per share came in flat, the operating results were improved. Adjusted operating income was up 10% on an adjusted basis in both segments, and 5% better on a non-adjusted basis across both segments, on lower sales, general, and administrative (SG&A) expenses. Gross margin fell 20 basis points, but higher revenue resulted in a $3 million increase in gross profit dollars. The decrease in gross margin was the result of higher costs related to future capacity growth, and some higher commodity costs. So far, it looks like investors are happy with McCormick's results, and management's commentary for the rest of the year. Share prices are up 5% in early market trading. The jump in price is likely as much a product of the company's guidance as the results from the quarter, as management reaffirmed its full-year outlook, including steps to "mitigate current tariff impact." The company is calling for revenue to grow 1% to 3% on a constant-currency basis for the full year, with volumes driving the growth, and for operating income and earnings per share to increase 3% at the midpoint. So far, 2025 has been an uncertain year for McCormick, as with so many other companies that rely on foreign markets to source the goods that they manufacture (as well as end-markets where they sell). For McCormick, investors should continue to look for improvements in its expense and cost structure, resilience in the Flavor Solutions segment, and growing volumes in both its Flavor Solutions and Consumer segments as signs of a healthy business moving in the right direction. Strictly's Dianne Buswell says Joe Sugg 'is not bothered' after engagement rumours
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Dianne Buswell, who after two near-misses finally won Strictly Come Dancing in 2024, has brushed off rumours of an engagement with her 2018 celebrity dance partner Joe Sugg. Speaking to Heat Magazine, Dianne explained that the misunderstanding about her relationship with Joe was brought about by a simple side-effect of long-distance air travel. Sitting still for long periods, along with the low humidity in airplane cabins, can cause peripheral oedema - puffiness in the hands and feet It can also cause silly misconceptions, Dianne says: "I had to put my ring on that finger because it was the only one that wasn't puffed up from flying to Australia. I even posed for pictures with it! I didn't realise it would make such a commotion." (Image: undefined via Getty Images) Dianne's boyfriend, YouTuber Joe Sugg, wasn't drawn into the "commotion," she says: "Joe does not look at any stories like that. He's not bothered - it never affects him." The next "commotion" that Dianne's fans can expect to see will be Red Hot and Ready – the series of live shows that she's just about to start with fellow Strictly pro Vito Coppola. "This dance show has been two years in the making," Dianne says. "It's going to surprise a lot of people. There's things in there that you'd never see us do on Strictly, I'll put it that way! It's an emotional roller coaster. We want people to laugh and cry with us." (Image: undefined via Getty Images) Alongside her tour commitments, the professional dancer has been keeping herself busy elsewhere. She recently returned to her native Australia to work on the children's programme Bluey, contributing to the new Bluey Dancealongs on the show's YouTube channel. In this role, she choreographed and starred in five dance videos for the series, featuring young fans of the animated programme. Speaking about the project, Dianne said she was thrilled to be involved, saying: "How cool that I got to go to Bluey's World in Australia to dance in Bluey's house with some incredibly talented kids dancing to some of Bluey's favourite tunes." (Image: PA) Looking further ahead, Dianne confessed that she dreams of appearing on BBC1's The Traitors. Superfan Dianne admitted: "Every time I play Traitors at home I'm always voted out first. "Everyone thinks that I am lying, and I'm just trying to help the team out. I'm very vocal, so I start to talk, and then they all think I'm being shady, so I always get voted out. So, I've decided not to play any more."

Spice Maker McCormick's Earnings Miss Expectations
McCormick's fiscal first-quarter results missed Wall Street's expectations. The midpoint of McCormick's full-year forecast range was also slightly below analysts' estimates. The company saw volume growth year-over-year, which was offset in part by declines from & Company (MKC) reported fiscal first-quarter earnings that missed analysts' expectations. The spice and seasoning producer posted revenue of $1.6 billion, up less than 1% year-over-year and slightly below the analyst consensus of Visible Alpha. Adjusted earnings of $162.3 million, or 60 cents per share, fell from $169.1 million, or 63 cents per share, a year earlier, also short of estimates. The results came as volumes increased in McCormick's consumer and flavor solutions segments, but this was offset in part by a decline from pricing. Looking ahead, the company behind Frank's RedHot and Cholula hot sauces said it still expects full-year net sales to be flat to up 2% year-over-year, which is slightly below the analyst consensus of 1.5% growth at the midpoint. The company projects adjusted earnings per share of $3.03 to $3.08, compared to the consensus of $3.07. Shares of McCormick were little changed in early trading Tuesday following the news. They've gained about 5% since the start of the year. Read the original article on Investopedia Sign in to access your portfolio
