Law and District AAC enjoy race success across the UK

The club have done really well in various competitions Law and District AAC athletes have done well in various competitions across the UK. ‌ Senior athlete Liam Nolan won gold in hammer and discus at the Red Star Championships at Crownpoint in Glasgow. ‌ The club had three gold medal wins at the Calderglen Trail Races in East Kilbride, by Amelie Grant (U9s 1k), Abbie Boyle (U12s 3k) and Lucy Taylor (U15s 3k). ‌ Olivia Taylor was fourth in U12s, Anais Grant was 6th, and Ivy Taylor 10th. Ethan Lawn was fifth in the boys' race. Eilidh Boyle was ninth in U15s 3k, and Elaine Boyle was third in the senior 10k. U17 Blair Beverley competed in the Livingston Open Graded Meeting and ran a personal best of 4.37:02 in 1500m, and U20 Declan McClelland ran a PB of 56.89s in 400m. Under-20 runner Owen Murphy finished third in the 100m 'B' final at the Mannheim International in Germany, smashing a 23-year club record with 10.64s, which was also a personal best. Coach Bobby Wotherspoon completed the Mont Blanc mountain marathon. Siblings Alexander and Helena Wotherspoon joined their dad in France at the Mont Blanc Festival races, where U13 Helena won the 2013 age group in Mini Cross 4k, and U15 Alexander won the 2012 category. ‌ Jen Beattie ran the Tea and Trails 50k Ultra in Applethwaite in the Lake District, where she was fourth V40 in 8.31:53 in an ultra 53k race with 2470m elevation. Emily McNicol and Lesley Graham ran the Lairig Ghru Hill Race from Braemar to Aviemore, 43k and 640m elevation, where McNicol was first female in 3.47:43. ‌ Masters Championships and Open events were held at the Riverside Arena in Ayr, with three athletes competing in throws. V35 Helen Johnson won hammer gold with 37.09m, coach Graeme Ferguson V45 silver with 24.78m, and Liam Nolan won para with 33.10m. In javelin, Ferguson threw 24.04m, and achieved 24.53m for silver in discus, with Nolan winning para with 28.56m. In shot put, Ferguson threw 10.04 to win V45 gold. Out on track, U15 Cara Murphy won 100m and 200m para events, and M60 Fiona Steele won gold in 100m and 200m, and finished fourth in 400m. M60 Jim Gillon won gold in 400m, and V35 Christine Neill took bronze in 1500m.
