'Another Chivaviro?' – Chiefs fans slam Da Silva after sloppy debut
Kaizer Chiefs fans were left frustrated with Flavio Da Silva's performance in his fight match for the club against Vitesse. He was named in the starting 11 for Amakhosi on Tuesday night, where they lost 2-1 to the Dutch side in a training match. Reeve Frosler scored the only goal for the visitors as they suffered defeat in their first pre-season match. The 29-year-old striker joined Amakhosi last week from Persebaya Surabaya in Indonesia. The Portuguese striker is relatively unknown, but it has been documented that he was one of the best players in Indonesia. With Amakhosi desperate for a good striker, Da Silva is not tasked with the job of scoring goals for the Soweto giants. The striker looked sluggish and failed to combine with his teammates. His touches and ball control were very suspect but it could be that he is trying to come to terms with a new style of play. Kaizer Chiefs fans, however, were not pleased with how the striker performed on Tuesday. Many compared him to departed forward Ranga Chivaviro who has a love/hate with Amakhosi supporters due to his inconsistency in front of goals. 'Fighting every bone in my body to watch the Chiefs game.. My WhatsApp groups are already writing off Flavio Silva ba re another Chivaviro, what reason I didn't want this to be streamed,' @Nipho_MK. 'I saw him leaving the ball behind and switched to Netflix immediately,' @HLABARINTO tweeted. @IGNY567 wrote: 'Lol it is just preseason but I don't think he will survive Betway Prem, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt. One thing I saw is that he can press, maybe it will be the system that fails him.' Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 0211. Kaizer Chiefs need to strengthen these THREE positions
Kaizer Chiefs aren't a million miles away from becoming a top-eight side again. Where should the Nedbank Cup champions strengthen? Every man and his dog knows that Chiefs are in the market to find a reliable goal-getter. The problem? This knowledge will drive prices up. Dillan Solomons and Reeve Frosler have done an adequate job on the right side of defence, but the Glamour Boys want to upgrade. It's been a while since Amakhosi had a high-volume midfield maestro they could rely on to dictate the tempo. Kingsley Michael is still only 25, but the Nigerian midfield orchestrator has already been around the block. His club career has seen him enjoy stints across Europe. First in Italy with Bologna, Perugia, Cremonese and Reggina. Then, spells with SV Ried and DSV Leoben in Austria. Now he's on the books of Monastir in Tunisia. Surprisingly, he's only earned one cap for Nigeria's Super Eagles. Click for more on Michael Kingsley Michael in action for US Monastir in Tunisia.
