Death investigation on 4th Ave now deemed homicide

(Gareth Dillistone/CTV News) A death investigation that began Monday evening, when Regina police discovered a body near a home on 4th Avenue, has now been deemed a homicide investigation. The victim has been identified as 53-year-old Brando Peji. At around 8 p.m. Monday, officers with the Regina Police Service (RPS) were called to the 3000 block of 4th Avenue, in Regina's North Central area. Police discovered a body once they arrived. The area was secured and personnel from the service's major crime and forensic identification units were called in – in addition to the Saskatchewan Coroners Service. Anyone with information that could assist police in the investigation is asked to contact RPS or to submit a tip to Regina Crime Stoppers.

Regina police begin death investigation after body discovered on 4th Ave

According to RPS, officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of 4th Avenue just after 8 p.m. Monday. Police discovered a man's body at the scene. The area was secured and members of the service's major crimes unit as well as its forensic identification unit were called in. Regina police say that no further details will be released, and that the victim's name will not be revealed 'at this time.' Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is encouraged to contact Regina police or submit an anonymous tip to Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers. The investigation is currently being run in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Coroners Service.

Regina police and EMS on the scene of a collision involving a pedestrian near the east end Walmart Monday afternoon. (DonovanMaess/CTVNews) Regina police and EMS are on the scene of a collision involving a pedestrian in the city's east end on Monday afternoon. According to an email from the Regina Police Service (RPS), officers were called to the scene on Prince of Wales Drive near the entrance to Walmart around 2:20 p.m. Several police vehicles, a fire engine and an ambulance were witnessed at the scene. Traffic delays in the area were apparent, as the collision blocked the northbound lanes of Prince of Wales Drive at Westfair Road. In the email, RPS said there are few details to share at this time, adding that more information will be provided when available. Traffic delays can be expected in the area for the time being.

Regina police deem fatal pedestrian collision a homicide
Regina police have deemed a fatal pedestrian collision on Tuesday a homicide. Officers were first called to the 2200 block of Lindsay Street on Tuesday for the report of an injured man who was involved in a collision with a vehicle, according to the Regina Police Service (RPS). Following an attempt at life saving measures by EMS, the 38-year-old man was declared dead on the scene. Police secured the area and requested resources from the RPS major crime unit, the forensic identification unit and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service. A death investigation was then launched on Tuesday evening. Photos from the scene showed a damaged bicycle beside an SUV in the parking lot of the Al Ritchie Ice Arena. On Wednesday, RPS said the man's death has been deemed a homicide and have charged 36-year-old Alexandra Crowe with second-degree murder and failure to comply with a probation order. She was scheduled to make her first appearance in Regina Provincial court on Wednesday morning. However, court was adjourned to July 21. Police have not released the victim's name.

Mother and daughter last seen June 19 have been located unharmed, Regina police say
A Regina Police Service officer can been be seen in this file photo A mother and her eight-year-old daughter who were last seen on June 19 have been located unharmed, according to Regina police. The Regina Police Service (RPS) had advised the public that the 46-year-old and her child were believed to be travelling through Saskatchewan, Alberta, or B.C. with a Saskatchewan licence plate. Police also said it was possible they were using different names. RPS had noted there was no evidence the pair had come to harm, but police wanted to located them to ensure their safety due to health concerns. On Wednesday July 9, Regina police said the mother and daughter have been found unharmed, and said the investigation has been concluded.
