Major music festival with A-list headliners cancelled at the last minute
Connecticut's popular Soundside Music Festival has abruptly been cancelled, two months before its headliners were set to take the stage. The two-day event – which was set to return to Seaside Park in Bridgeport, Connecticut on September 27 and 28 – has been axed due to 'circumstances beyond our control', organisers have said. The headliners slated for the event were The Killers, Weezer, Hozier and Vampire Weekend, with Japanese Breakfast, Remi Wolf, Alex Warren and The Last Dinner Party also included in the line-up. But now a brief message on the festival's website has announced: 'Due to circumstances beyond our control, Soundside Music Festival has been cancelled. 'Tickets will be refunded to the original method of payment in as little as 30 days depending on your bank's processing time.' The festival organisers have not provided any further specifics on why the event will not be going ahead. The official Soundside Music Festival social media accounts were taken down following the announcement, including its Instagram and Facebook pages, which had over 52,000 combined followers. General admission for a single-day ticket to the festival started at $170 (£127), according to the Soundside Music Festival's now-deleted ticket page. This comes after the Foo Fighters cancelled their performance at the festival last year, following on from lead singer Dave Grohl's admission that he cheated on his wife and fathered a child with another person. The gig was slated for September 29, 2024, but was pulled without an explanation in an Instagram post which had its comments promptly switched off. The announcement came after the rock band had been shaken by controversy just weeks earlier, as Dave, 56, shared a statement to social media in which he admitted he was the father to a new baby daughter born outside his marriage. Music festival fans fume as event with The Killers and Weezer due to perform is cancelled
Music lovers have been left disappointed after a huge festival was cancelled with a brief message on the organisers website letting fans know just weeks before they were due to attend A major music festival has been cancelled with attendees being informed by a message on its website. SoundSide Music Festival was due to take place between September 27 and 28 at Seaside Park in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Confirmed acts at the event included headliners The Killers, Weezer, Hozier and Vampire Weekend. However, the two-day musical gathering has now been axed entirely with no reason given to fans. A message on the website states, 'Due to circumstances beyond our control, Soundside Music Festival has been cancelled. Tickets will be refunded to the original method of payment in as little as 30 days depending on your bank's processing time.' Other expected acts on the line-up at the festival included Djo, Japanese Breakfast, the Backseat Lovers, Remi Wolf, Alex Warren and the Last Dinner Party. Disappointed ticket holders were just weeks away from attending and have not had any further information provided to them. Fans took to X to complain as one angry fan typed: "wdym soundside music festival was canceled…" Another added: "so soundside music fest was cancelled and their insta page has been deleted… what the f**k actually". And a third said: "soundside got cancelled and i was supposed to see djo at it im devastated and it was my home show the festival is so close to my house". The news comes just one year on from fans being left upset when the Foo Fighters cancelled their planned performance at the festival in 2024. The band gave just a few days notice for the cancellation after it was revealed that frontman Dave Grohl had become a dad again - but had welcomed the new baby outside of his marriage. The new arrivals caused quite a scandal leading to the band sharing a short message with fans on Instagram to confirm their change of plans around the news. The statement said, "FOO FIGHTERS WILL NO LONGER BE APPEARING AT THIS WEEKEND'S SOUNDSIDE MUSIC FESTIVAL. PLEASE CHECK THE FESTIVAL WEBSITE FOR MORE INFORMATION (sic)". While the Foo Fighters didn't specify the actual reason behind the cancellation of their planned appearance at the festival, the timing was indicative of the rocker's personal issues causing a clash in their schedule. The announcement was made just weeks after Dave confirmed that he had fathered the child outside of his marriage to Jordyn Blum. Dave, 56, vowed at the time that he would "regain" the trust of his family after sharing the shock news with the world via his social media. Goth Babe animates audience at Boston Calling with crowd surfing, contest (Photos)
Indie rocker Goth Babe brought the crowd at the Boston Calling Green Stage in on the action during his Sunday set with features such as crowd surfing on inflatable rafts and a dance-off competition for a coveted prize. The singer, whose real name is Griff Washburn, delighted fans with chill beats such as 'Canary Islands,' 'Weekend Friend' and 'Casita' across his 45-minute allotted afternoon spot. On two occasions, Washburn handed off pool floats to volunteers so that they could be carried through the crowd by their fellow spectators. Spectators also bounced around beach balls of varying sizes through the air as Goth Babe dove through his discography. At one point, Washburn divided the crowd into left and right sections and asked concertgoers to out-dance one another, with one lucky fan winning the prize of an inflatable boat. The left side won the battle.
