Uncle of Outkast's Big Boi died in road rage shooting; 2 charged
Jabyrion and Janisha Crumbley are behind bars for their alleged involvement in a road rage incident that turned deadly. Channel 2 Investigative Reporter Ashli Lincoln covered the story on Channel 2 Action News at 6 p.m. According to police, they discovered a 62-year-old man, identified as Remoin Thomas Patton Sr., had died from an apparent gunshot wound on Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard NW near Rock Street. Remoin Patton is the uncle of Atlanta rapper Antwan 'Big Boi' Patton of Outkast. 'Everybody who knows Uncle Moonie heart aches,' said Patton in a statement to Channel 2. 'He wasn't just 'My' Uncle, he was Unk to all that met him. A moment of rage has in totally pierced the heart of my family forever. May Uncle Moonie's soul rest in peace.' Atlanta police say on June 16, Patton was attempting to make a turn when he got into an argument with the two. He was hit in the back, causing him to crash into an empty home on Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard. 'The car just turned and crashed into the house. Actually the double windows were right here,' Chris Walker, who's housesitting for the landlord, told Lincoln. 'I'm like, 'What the heck happened to my place that I'm staying now?'' Walker said. 'I never thought it would be this property.' He says he couldn't believe the damage when he was allowed back in the home 24 hours later. Jabyrion Crumbley turned himself in Wednesday and also faces charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The uncle of Outkast member Big Boi has been fatally shot in a road-rage incident in Atlanta. Remoin Patton, 62, was found dead shortly after 5.30pm on June 16, the Atlanta Police Department said. Two people have been arrested in connection with the killing, detectives announced Friday. 'During the altercation, the victim was shot, causing him to crash his vehicle into a vacant residence,' the APD said. Patton was later found by officers with a gunshot wound to the back, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. 'The car just turned and crashed into the house.
